Radio was turning on with no sound but turning off immediately. Replaced capacitors in ICM. Replaced radio unit with display with a 2nd hand one. Same prob. Then the Amp. Same problem.. Turned out to be a broken and corroded power wire leading to the amp under the seat. Took 6 months to trouble shoot. Radio in and out of the car 20 times.... Happy now though. Good luck
Hi! Was this a xc90? Same problem here. The premium sound messege comes, and then goes black after 2 sec. Maybe i should check same thing. Under the passanger seat? Do you have to loosen the seat?
I've just done a video on the head unit on my 2003 XC90. I was getting the "DECK ERROR" message when trying to play a CD. I took it apart, retrieved the 5 discs that were still in it (mine is a 6 disc changer) and came to the conclusion that the disc changer is mechanically faulty. When I put it back together it didn't work at all. I found a blown fuse and once that was replaced, I was back to where I'd started. A replacement CD changer is the only fix. Your electrical guy was barking up the wrong tree. Unfortunately, the area where the amplifier is located is prone to water ingress esepcially XC90s with a sunroof that has blocked drains. The yaw sensor is located underneath the amplifier and can also be affected causing the dreaded "ANTI SKID SERVICE REQUIRED" error message.
my 2004 xc90 (love this car) has similar problem, steering wheel on the left side (florida here). it goes on and off like it had a mind of its own. now, if i pull fuse 2 (30AMP) and leave it off for few minutes, then push it back in, nothing happens (not right away anyway). however, if i drive the car for like 10-20 minutes after that, everything goes back to normal, for 2-3 car restarts. then it gets back to this twilight mode where no matter what you do, unit seems to be pushing up daisies. will try all your advices here, thanks!
When the camera pulled up and the whole rear of the vehicle was dismantled, I knew this wouldn't end with a solution😂. I have no sound in my front speakers, hope I have better success. Thanks guys.
I have the premium Dolby Pro Logic II System. But Mine has the same issue. One of my freinds that works for Volvo told me it’s an issue with the voltage control for the microprocessor. So it causes it to do exactly what your experiencing. I have to get it replaced but one day it just started working again. But it’s still throwing a code saying it’s not giving enough voltage to the microprocessor. You need to replace the stereo section of the ICM.
I am another person with the same problem. Radio is functionaly when she want, i dont know what make. I think to buy a second hand radio, but i dont know if it is a solution for problem
If your radio went out recently first thing to check is your 37th fuse located to the left of steering wheel between the door. It is called INFOTAINMENT. Pull fuse, reinsert. If not fixed, replace fuse and try again. If still nothing, it is the system itself
with right steering wheel, it is more on the right of it, but basically same thing. for your information, all xc90(s) 2003-2014 have symmetrical fuse doors, between the steering wheel and the adjacent door.
20,000 views and no solution posted. I pulled the ICM, ECM, Booster, fuses, CD player... everything looks good. Powers up for 2 seconds and shuts off. No corrosion anywhere. Red light fiber optics OK too...
Same problem, the AM/FM band would stop working intermittently to start, now it will not come back on. I replaced the capacitors which one video suggested, no luck, replaced radio head, same problem, so it is not the radio control PC or the control button modules just so others don't waste money on replacing radio. I checked amplifier, no water, connection were clean, no luck, the CD works fine, so in all this time I have yet to find anyone who knows what problem is. The rear module is only thing I haven't changed, so what does this unit do, anyone know? Thanks FREE100KSECRET.com
UPDATE, I replaced radio head, same problem, replace amp, same problem, replace rear tuner module, same problem, the all have MOST signal, no fuses bad, replaced them anyhow, same problem, how frustrating.
This system uses a fiber optic buss. If any of the components in that serial chain that the beam goes through doesn't forward the beam to the next component down stream of if, the entire system will not operate. Connect Vida up to your Xc90 and it will tell you what module isn't receiving the beam indicating the failure of the upstream component in the chain. That how I fixed mine.. It was the amplifier intermittently working.
i thought that only american volvo dealers are dumb, but i see this happening in england as well... that's why, we need to incorporate sweden asap :-) LOL
hey, got another idea, we flip a coin (which goes first, i can talk to trump here, you talk to miss may there) and we literally incorporate sweden, nothing like a war or anything, just friendly incorporate it and make them be more responsible for maintaining the most beloved car in the world. what about that guys, who can make sweden first? we can make it the 51st state, you perhaps would want to swap with ireland (would love that, so is ireland). please advise. will only take a phone call, we're all civilized nations, but volvo cars (notice that it is not volvo but volvo cars) perhaps needs a boost from uncle sam, something friendly like "you do it now, or all your upper executive goes to jail" for sabotaging the sweden image in the world

did you get it sorted in the end and if so how?
Check for water under the drivers seat (amplifier connections) where all wires go.

Check for light coming out at each of the ORANGE LINES... When you lose the light the up stream module is bad.
Hi driftdavillian. Could you help me out on diagnosing my xc90. Email adari8130@gmail.com. I posted my issue on Volvo xc90 customs

replacing the 10A with a 15A may do the trick (that is if yours is gone). 22:22 here, trying it out, will report back if it works! thanks in advance
trick with fuse 37 did not work for me, well... thanks
strangely enough, i was able to power on the unit, but now when i tried to increase volume, it is all gone, couldn't... time to upgrade the radio
I did same as you, its working only radio,cd I think dust inside that's by to read take 1 minute after not play ,its ok np,thanks a lot

@@MSullivanFREE-BUSINESSES did you find a solution yet?

2:51 ....is about right.
That's the problem... the steering wheel is on the wrong side. lol
but it happens in florida too :-) LOL
Any luck? Mine does the same thing.

You could also have a failing ICM module.
@@Driftdavillian Any idea if it was just AM/FM band not working, or both radio and CD given amplifier powers both?
It is the two cables in the back of the digital screen they bend sending the screen funny
