Thank you, I spent an entire afternoon trying to do this. The nail polish wood NOT spread into the water. I watched many videos and NO ONE ( except YOU ) explained which polishes to use. Thank you so much for solving the mystery!
Love your rocks! I have been painting rocks with left over nail polish for years! One word of caution. If you pour used water through a coffee filter when disposing of it this will keep the polish out of your drain and potential clogs later!
I love water marbling! If you use a slow drying polish in the water, you can extend your work time. Also, if you put a tape handle (like an upside down T-pin) on the bottom of the rock, you'll get more of the design and none on your fingers. Your rocks turned out beautiful!
Thanks for this comment, I was wondering about both these things. What polish would extend the drying time yet float? I was wondering about adding a solvent to the water to do this.
This is really awesome. I love it. People find these little colored treasures and it surely must brighten up their day. I know I'd be excited to find one and leave one. Thank you for sharing and caring.
Lobe this ..1st time seeing it done with nail polish . I have seen it done with coffee cups too but not rocks.. love it..excited to try. New subscriber.
I paint and hide painted rocks in the area that I live and I Love it. I actually found my very first painted rock 2 days ago and that was very exciting I kept it but I hid extra rocks in place of it.
Thank you! I tried following a different video and was completely discouraged. Your explanation, especially regarding which polish works and which doesn’t, is just what I needed to get me to try again. Wish me luck!
THANKS for sharing. Will be trying this soon!!!Appreciate when people share things they know so others can enjoy the beautiful art that is made. I am part of local Belton Rocks and Harker Heights Rocks FB page . cant wait to make some for our towns rock pages!!
This was a fun way to create beauty! Thank you for sharing... I can’t wait to go get polish and try. We hike every day and I wanted to take several to hide along the trails, perfect! Thank you for sharing!
Absolutely fantastic video and what an adorable idea!! The rocks turned out beautiful, I cant wait to try this! Thank you for sharing and God bless. 😊💖
Thank you for taking the hit and miss out of the equation. Just found out tonight that sally hanson worked for sure and wet and wild sort of. The wet and wild were old. THEN I find your tutorial. Thank you for a fun and informative video. Darn tho, no rocks in FL. Guess sea shells would do for a base. You could put a new twist on the egg hunt.
you can go to Lowe's (possibly Home Depot) or a landscaping company to get river rocks or other types of landscaping rocks to use. Also, the Dollar Tree sometimes has very small bags of small stones that you could use.
I too live in NE Ohio. My friends and I find rocks all the time. I painted a few but I put so much time into them it's usually hard to part with them :D
Our towns are playing the game also. my little girl found two rocks yesterday! we have planned on painting rocks and hiding them also. its alot of fun! :) some people make beautiful rocks too!
Thank you for this video. I purchased the Martha Stewart Marbling Medium the other day, followed the instructions and it was a disaster! LOL>. I will be trying this method!
If you don't want to get your hands messy, you could glue sticks to the back of the rocks and then dunk the entire rock into the water. After the rock dries, just break the glue joint and scrape the residue off of the rock.
Love , Love this absolutely beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing. Does the kind of rock you use make a difference? Again thanks so mush for the share, hope you're having a Fabulous Day. 😎😃

👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🤓🤓🤓🤓
Wow.. that's insane😍
Have you ever tried to put the polish in the pipet or dropper bottle ? it would be faster to drip and the polish would not dry out with the lid open
Great Idea! I’m going to make some!
Thank you for this video. I purchased the Martha Stewart Marbling Medium the other day, followed the instructions and it was a disaster! LOL>. I will be trying this method!
Oh no! Lol. Well good luck to you :)
Lovely, excellent I will try it
Do the whole stone-front & back. Pretty cool.
If you don't want to get your hands messy, you could glue sticks to the back of the rocks and then dunk the entire rock into the water. After the rock dries, just break the glue joint and scrape the residue off of the rock.
Real magic..awesome
Thanks a lot
for sharing your best idea
Thanks for the fantastic tutorial! Do you still glaze it after it dries or is the nail polish a natural glaze?
Woww super cool 😍
I've used acrylic paints and spray paints to water marble... Works so much better then nail polish..
I tried acrylics with no luck. Any tips?
Now who would dislike this vid???
I’m always wondering the same thing! I think they’re just jealous ...
Super pretty
That's amazing!
Someone needs to show Christine (simplynailogical) this!
Love , Love this absolutely beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing. Does the kind of rock you use make a difference? Again thanks so mush for the share, hope you're having a Fabulous Day. 😎😃
Your awesome at water marble!! I so want to give this a try😃
Thanks! Yes try it! It is definitely a trial and error thing, and takes some patience but one you get the hang of it is so much fun :)
Great video!
Good....i like it
I think you can do this with spray paint also. And instead of throwing the water out you can run a papertowel across the surface to clean it.
maybe strain through a coffee filter to not waste the water?
great demo! gotta try soon
Great idea often half used unwanted nail vanish at car boot sales for pennies I going give it a go
Yes! Old nail polish is great for crafty stuff :)
I assume that you have painted the rocks white or did I miss that part of the instructions???
