Honestly the best guitar teacher! I’m a fairly advanced ear musician, who unfortunately took the lazy way out and skipped my theory, and lots of modes and scales. So now I’ve hit a wall I need it to get past and expand my musical language. I’ve been looking for someone that can explain these things well. And I haven’t found a better teacher! Been doing a video or two a night and catching up real quick ! Thanks man!!
best teacher ...ever ... the way you teach its fun ,and very informative...for the firstime ive never been board waching lessons.. thnx teacher rob from philippines
Great lesson, thank you for explaining how what you're playing is related to the key, I love taking things I learn and having the ability to see how it's being done and use it in other keys. Thanks!
Hey thanks Callum Chesterman Witts , glad you liked this lesson. Thats what its all about; finding licks, breaking them down, figuring out how they work and then reusing their components. I would suggest playing these licks in a bunch of different keys, and then see if you can compose something based on them, as its always best to take a creative approach. Thanks again for watching, and have a happy Thanksgiving. -Rob
roy raken Thanks so much, always good to hear from ya. Have a great holiday season yourself. Tons of work to be done between now and the end of the year, expect a ton of new lessons in the coming days. Be well. -Rob
Just discovered you 10 minutes ago, this is the second video I am checking on your channel and sir, I been playing for a while now but I have been lacking in the guitar licks part. You make it sound easy with great explanation and for that I dearly thank you.
Mohamed Hassan Thank you for your kind comment, its good to know people are making use of these lessons and getting a lot out of them! Many more are on the way, keep checking in. Thanks and be well. -Rob
Ya cant help but agree that you play some amazing phrases. I want to learn the thirds patterns for major keys.....love that tonality....thank you the chord run of the major scale is sweet too Its like a little composition , and you probably playd this randomly, nice man
This is awesome man!! I've seen plenty of videos on youtube for Soloing tutorial but this one is the BEST. looking forward to see more of these kind, "soloing over Major Keys" perhaps with the root note other than D. ..CHEERS !! thanks for the upload. you've made me a HUGE FAN of yours.
+sandeep nainwal Hey thanks for the positive feedback, glad you enjoyed this lesson. Yes, many more are on the way, especially on the subject of soloing, improvisation. Be well. -Rob
Hi buddy, so far I have watched a three of your lessons...I'm hooked. Right up my street and really enjoying your teaching style. Keep up the amazing work.
Hey thanks very much, glad you enjoyed the lesson. This stuff is always tricky to breakdown on camera, but my hope is to give everyone a solid week of practice. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Best. -Rob
you're simply fantastic Rob !! thanks a lot for you great advices!! Even if I've been playing guitar for many years..I've never seen such a great teacher like you!
Hey thanks a lot jendunn ! These are definitely fun licks, ones that work in plenty of situations. I'm sure they will serve you well. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment. Have a great day. -Rob
You are an amazing teacher thanx for every thing you do but I wish if you give us some of youre tecniqe for bending string in acoustic guitar I am from lebanon I hope to see lot of youre lessons
Great video man if i want to solo over these chord progression in a song G A C D, how are you/me going to change so quickly from one pattern to the other. say i start soloing in G but then A chord comes. So do i change the pattern from G to A major pentatonic or what do i do?
Very useful tips as ever Rob. I feel the background music takes something away from the vibe of the video, makes it feel less intimate maybe, but that's just my preference. More importantly though, cheers for the lesson! -Jamie
Hey jamie thomson, thanks for watching and for leaving a thoughtful comment. Yes, thats my theme song, an old instrumental my former band Kickin' Bear recorded called Lady Monsoon. I've noticed that it doesn't fit the mood of many lessons...especially the minor key videos. Thanks for the suggestion, something to keep in mind. Have a great day! -Rob
I should probably use a totally different account for this because my username but man this really helps a bunch just from watching this im more fluid in my playing ive been playing for about 6 years now but stopped improving at a certain point and became frustrated your very good at teaching
Hey so glad to help Ilikesmokingpot12386, its easy to stagnate, so its important to keep throwing new ideas into the mix. Have a great week of practice, much more on the way!
+Romz Narvaez if your goal is to be able to solo and create melodies, then learning scales, arpeggios and interesting ways of navigating through them is a big part of that process.
Hey John, if the video predates my patreon page, then there may not be a study guide created for it yet. Thanks for letting me know, I'll add it to my list of things to do. Be well. -Rob
This won't stick if you just memorize the scales. Figure out the chords and break them down, only then will you understand what is happening on the neck, and it'll come naturally and stick. Playing scale boxes over and over again will cause more hindrances later on in your playing.
SkamerTheGamer Sorry, i'm not a Nickleback fan, but love a lot of their influences like Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Sound Garden and other early 90's groups. Let me know if you can think of a recommendation from that era of rock. Thanks so much for watching and commenting. -Rob
