I think that will be tough record to break. Most stars are maxing out around 65 games a season 1 and 2 with the money they are making how many are going to want to play 17 to 20 years or good enough to last that long?
And LeBron would be actually very close if he would have played like this since starting of his career, he changed his game like maybe 7-8 years ago. Would have probably break the record. And he will play most likely like 3 seasons till he retires. Will end up 3-4k assists short so he would have break the record probably if he didn't want to be mostly a scoring machine first 10+ years. This like all the records will be broken.
The other insane thing about this video, aside from Stocktons absurd record, is that Lebron will probably end his career with more points than Kareem and more assists than Magic. That’s crazy.

Steve Nash is Canadian!
What's really crazy about Stockton's record is that it was harder to get assists counted back then than it is now. That's one thing I don't hear a lot of people talk about. NBA is pretty liberal about what they consider an assist these days.
Dude, that can also be said for the guys who played decades before him. Lol
I just want to say the #1&2 spots on this list is the same as all time steals
Love this graphic. Wish I knew how to do it.
How do you have Steve Nash as South African? He's Canadian.
He was born in South Africa, but raised in Canada. That's why.
wow I didn't know that Porter and Strickland were that high in the alltime list. They had a great era in Portland with Drexler and Robinson.
Yeah, Strickland really surprised me. I was such a big fan but back then there was no way to watch him play when you lived in Chicago so I had no idea.
Wrong flag for Steve Nash
Peace to Ernie who dropped off the list early, but was the first to 500.
Cousy and Oscar were up there a long time. And imagine if Magic didn't have to retire early and played 5-7 more years.
Luka will break the 100 point barrier.
Did you see Steve Nash get exactly 1 more assist than that mark Jackson guy
Disrespect to mark Jackson is disgusting
Jackson could pull a Cousy and start picking up ghost assists in 69`
Anyone else think Wemby can break the 100 point record?
Not me.
Steve Nash: GOAT of South African basketball.
He’s Canadian 😂
Cousy... wow. The "Big O"... dang! Magic... sensational! John Stockton.... um... I think he's going to be on the top for a LONG time.
Si Magic no hubiera tenido que retirarse posiblemente estaríamos diciendo que es el máximo asistente de la NBA ya que es el que tiene mejor media por partido jugado
Scottie Pippen...
Put some respect on the name of John Houston Stockton!
why is Jason Kidd good at all of this records but never getting 1st
Because John Stockton existed, and as dirty as he was, he was also magic for a very long time.
@@stevegeorge6880he’s dirty because he set screens for his coach? The only reason stock is dirty= the league shifted to charmin.
I didn't realize Mark Jackson was still that high on the list. Impressive.
This proves it's not who passes, it who they are passing to. Magic had Kareem and Worthy.. Stockton had Malone..and LeBron has had 20 Olympic teammates.
Which is why Nash's assists are more impressive. No offense to Stoudemire, but he's no Malone.. or Wade.. or Bosh... or Kyrie.. or AD.
I'm guessing most of lbj's assists aren't to any of those guys.
Steve Nash stopping point LMAO to spite Mark Jackson. Shame about John Wall’s 2018-19 injuries he would be on this list by now.
John wall rondo and deron williams all should be higher on this list
Also who knew, coach Lenny Wilkins was a good player in his time
I grew up in Cleveland in the 80s, so we were reminded often through the 80s and 90s how good a player he was every time we tuned into the home broadcast. I think he remains the only man inducted into the Naismith Hall of Fame 3 times. Once as a player, once as a coach, and also as a coaching staff member of the Dream Team.
Magic doesn't get HIV and plays another 5 years wouldn't surprise me if he is at 15k
Doubtful. Before Magic got HIV, he averaged about 826 assists/season, but he would have started to fall off due to age, like all players. Also, Stockton would be ahead of Magic, regardless. Stockton was averaging 100-200 more assists per year than Magic the last four years before Magic got HIV. Magic never had at least 1,000 assists in one season. Stockton had over 1,000 assists in seven different seasons.
They were attempting to stop the spread…
Too bad he didn’t like using condoms.
What I learned from this video is that Mark Jackson does not get talked about enough in NBA dialogue.
Back in the day anytime, checks screen, Ernie Calverley & Andy Phillip were dropping dimes Butts were in Seats! 😂
The first “passing” of the torch 🔥 if you will 😂
Huh, there used to be an old nba announcer, Al McGuire. from this video seems he had a brother Dick McGuire who was a star nba guard.
Bob Cousy has entered the chat.
It's fun to watch, but I prefer assessing stats based on per-game averages. But longevity matters, too.
Wow Jason Kidd a distant second to Stockton. 10,000 or more is kind of the elite club, although a few guys were just short of that.
With the way the game is played these days, nobody will come close.
We'll never know if the game will be different 5 years from now.
A lot of people talk about how the old guys were milkmen in the offseason and their numbers really don't translate. Well Bob Cousy being on this list 50 YEARS after he retired from that Era before he fell off would beg to differ. And of course Oscar Robertson STILL being on it as well nearly 50 years later too. If you can play the game, you can play the game, simple as that.
B.Stockton
B. MJ.
F. Kobe
F. Duncan
P. Jabbar
Make em jump like Rod Strickland!!!
Me looking at Stockton meter: That’s that bullshit John….
4:55 Magic flying up the list
I think that will be tough record to break. Most stars are maxing out around 65 games a season 1 and 2 with the money they are making how many are going to want to play 17 to 20 years or good enough to last that long?
And LeBron would be actually very close if he would have played like this since starting of his career, he changed his game like maybe 7-8 years ago. Would have probably break the record. And he will play most likely like 3 seasons till he retires. Will end up 3-4k assists short so he would have break the record probably if he didn't want to be mostly a scoring machine first 10+ years. This like all the records will be broken.
@@MultiJejjeLebron's scoring record will get broken before Stockton's assist record.
Needs to be updated. Lebron and Chris Paul are still climbing, as is Westbrook!
The other insane thing about this video, aside from Stocktons absurd record, is that Lebron will probably end his career with more points than Kareem and more assists than Magic. That’s crazy.
He is also the all time leader in turn overs. He just get the ball more than anyone else.
Ernie Calverley played college basketball at the University of Rhode Island.
Yes. Yes he did.
Bill Russel & Wilt had that many? Wow..
They were just great all around centers/players. It is disgusting when newbies attempt to discredit them. Poor free throw shooters, yes. Everything else, they excelled at.
@Amick44 who do you mean by newbies? I am old school dude, born in 1980 ain't no newbie but where and when should've I been able to see them both playing?
@@krzysztof_stuttgart I'm just saying both get overlooked at times. Unfortunately.
Wilt led the league in assists just 5 years after averaging 50.4 points per game for a whole season!
Magic shot up soooooo quick 👈
stockton literally lapped several other HOF on his way to the top
Steve Nash getting 1 more assist than Mark Jackson: "Fuck it I'm done"
I prefer looking at assists per minute played. Here are some notables:
Stockton. 0.33
C Paul. 0.27
Nash. 0.27
Doncic. 0.23
Jokic. 0.22
Lebron. 0.19
Curry. 0.19
Magic. 0.19
O. Robertson. 0.18
Bird. 0.16
These are regular-season only.
10K club is crowded as hell compared to the 15k club sheesh 😂
Bill Russell got so few? I thought he was the ultimate unselfish team player.
He was noted more for his defensive skills, which were much more important in the post in those days.
Leflop is getting hockey assists though, so that’s fake now.
Rent free pussc.
Anyone knows the name of the bgm?
Wait is this the first one I see that karaam isn’t on here
Larry Legend was in the top 15 at one point.
