thank you so much for this video!!! i know its just about christmas lights, but learning about the multimeter is helping me so much!! had this tool for a while but never realized how much it could actually do for me! you explained it so well!
Is there a way to test the battery box that comes with the mini strings of holiday lights to see if it is functioning? I know the string of lights is working (cut it off the box and was able to get it to light with a button battery.) I was refunded completely on the light strings (purchased 7) and I see that replacement battery boxes are available but I would like to check the battery boxes to see where the problem might be. Thank you for any help
You could test for continuity. The switch on it may be bad or there is a disconnect somewhere in the wiring, but either way if there is no continuity then it should be replaced. Take the batteries out, set to continuity and test the battery connections if you didn't cut the wires or if you cut it then test the two conductors which should form a circuit through the battery box. If there is a circuit board inside then there could anything wrong with it and should just be replaced.

You're right, it should've been a steady shot
