I tried to understand this hatred against Vini. If a fan of a rival club hates him it is fine. There's rivalry in football. And i understand why. When I was a kid, this was all people argued about. Now at 32 years old, I don’t care about this anymore. Arguing about who deserves the prize says a lot about what the Ballon d'Or has become. It feels like they just want to give someone the prize for the sake of it, and it feels more like a political campaign rather than being based on objective performance.
When Messi and Ronaldo were playing, they were so superior that there was no debate about who should win. Their stats were almost identical, and the tiebreaker was usually who had won the most titles, and no one had an issue with the winner (even though Messi has always been the better player, objectively speaking).
Vini, Jude, and Rodri all have claims to the prize. In the case of Rodri, I actually think he was better the season before, and still not better than Busquets at his peak. He missed a match in the Euros due to suspension and only played 45 minutes in the final, while Zubimendi came on and Spain played even better in the second half. I still don’t understand how he won the award for the best player of the tournament because I thought Lamine was better and more influential. But I guess they’re basing his odds on that.
When it comes to Vini and Jude… Vini started the season a bit slow, while Jude dominated the first half of the season and Vini the second half. Neither of them had particularly good tournaments with their respective national teams over the summer.
With that said, this is so uninteresting now that Messi and Ronaldo aren’t playing. I don’t even know who the world’s best player is anymore, as there’s no one as dominant as the players I mentioned above.
That is also because Barca has gotten so bad that they are no longer competition. If you think things are boring, ask them to disband barca and let another club come in then La Liga will become more interesting. Barca worst club forever

For a man known for his consistency, I believe last season was his finest. He absolutely controlled the tempo of each game, and was remarkably better at defending and intercepting passes. Key pass is a dead metric for what Kroos was actually doing last season, he was the brain of the team and even Ancelotti acknowledged it.

What we have here is:
1)Rodri with 2 trophies, 1 for club, 1 for Spain.
2)RM players with 3 trophies, 3 for club.
RM players have 1 more trophy, but a national trophy is considered always the superior one to any club trophy. This opinion is always supported by most of the players and managers themselves.
Plus, don't forget that the nominations of multiple RM players for the Ballon D'or is actually worse for each of them individually, they are competing against each other, because all those nominated players were almost equally important for those RM trophies.
On the other hand we have Rodri, who both for Spain and MC was the best player overall, every time he was on field, and that's a fact.
