The canon killed it, like how Scar's betrayal almost killed Mufasa but somehow Mufasa would let Scar anywhere near Simba in the first movie makes no sense at all And Kiara having a brother makes the whole Lion King 2 Simbas Pride storyline irrelevant now Songs were not that good either, Lin Manuel couldve focused on Moana 2 instead which had no good songs at all
This movie just seems like a huge nothing burger to me, Mufasa always seemed like 1 of those great characters that didn’t really need an origin story, we didn’t need to see him young and devoid of the amazing personality we know him for, kinda like how I don’t need to see the origin story of Master Shifu from Kung Fu Panda, because I think it’s safe to say that because he’s younger he’s not gonna be *anything* like the Mufasa we all know and love, in which case why would we wanna see it? Obviously I don’t know for sure because I haven’t seen it yet but this movie just seems so…pointless to me
I've seen the movie, and it's Amazing! As someone who watched all the Movies+ the tv show. I think it's really great. I have to say, this guy who thinks the songs should've been taken out Is a bit wrong because lion king is known for its music. Taking it out would be like Mulan and that was SUCH A BAD LIVE ACTION MOVIE.
I watched this then went home and watched the first one, and the first one definitely looks more realistic than Mufasa. The First one looks like a nature film by comparison
I'm absolutely planning on seeing it. And can we just agree that this realistic art style really works for the LK universe? I think it does and I could not agree with you more with your sentiments about people being negative about the visuals. Big F you to them, honestly. It looks gorgeous and beautiful and it works!! I already love LK, I love the animated, I love the 2019 version, too. So, odds of me liking this one is already pretty high. And it's possible to love all three versions at the same time! Crazy, I know. But .. also: talk of retconning stuff - Disney's been doing that since 98. The cub was always supposed to be a son and the sequel kind of pokes and mocks people who originally thought that, but why wouldn't they as every book that ever came out in 94 said it was a future king. Also, the name Taka came from a bookset called LK: Six New Adventures where, once again, Simba has a son and not a daughter. So ... this retcon of the two brothers only being brothers by spirit, in a way - I don't know how I feel about it yet as I need to see how they're going to explain it. If it's a good reason, I can be ok with it. If not, it's whatever. Just like the retcon son with a shoe-horned in daughter. If you don't like something, you don't have to accept it.
For how it handles Mufasa’s backstory story, I’d argue that why it’s done that way is because this is mainly connected for The Lion King remake compared to The Lion Guard where you would learn about Mufasa’s past in one of the episodes as it’s more connected to the cartoon
Transformers getting the superior prequel is pretty crazy ngl, but if one had to come out on top I’m glad it was TF ONE Now if only the film made money…
Yeah it´s such a "not fair" situation. I mean really TF One was soooo good. The types of movies I have graved for and people did´t go to see it. I guess my taste is diffrent from everyone else.
surprisingly i liked it a lot... songs are not as good as the original one, but the background score was excellent... people must go and watch this movie in theater... visually stunning, better storyline... overall a very good movie.
For me, Lin Manuel is hit or miss with his music. He has a very specific style that fits in certain things but not everything. Scuttlebutt is by far the worst song he’s ever made
I really liked the music. I have been listening to it for about a week. I would give the movie a B or B+. My biggest issue was Scar's turn. That was Ankin level quick.
I'd just got out of Mufasa and thought it was enjoyable. It is better than the 2019 Lion King and can say Milele and Always Wanted a Brother were the better songs. Some of the pacing I had an issue so far. Again, it's how I thought of this film. For now, time for a late lunch break before I see Sonic 3 later on.
Not gonna lie, I actually enjoyed it. The number one thing they definitely did better this time around were the animals' facial expressions. They actually had a lot more visual personality this time and I loved how they incorporated their growls, roars, groaning, and grunting into their dialogue and feelings. Why Jon Favreau couldn't do this in the original is BEYOND ME. Movie's solid.
@johncampea i get what you're saying when it comes to the whole Scar and Mufasa not being brothers thing but when you say that it retcons the original movie. It does not because this is a prequel to the 2019 remake not the original so you can watch the original with the mentality that they're blood related all you want since in that movie that's never confirmed. Also if you remember the 2019 remake when Mufasa confronts Scar Zazu does say that he should have been banished a long time ago but Mufasa insists on keeping him around and they also do say that in the same movie that Scar has challenged Mufasa and has always lost. Now I will say that I have not seen this movie yet so idk how it ends between the two but I'm just saying that in terms of it retconning the original movie it doesn't affect it at all since both this and the 2019 movie are their own separate universe
Yeah, that first main trailer really turned me off with the story beats it was hitting. Haven't watched it yet, but probably won't bother, especially if the music sucks
Thought it was a solid movie. My wife and daughter loved it. I thought the evil white lions were beautiful and scary. I was also VERY disappointed by the music. The evil lion singing "Bye Bye" took. me right out of the movie.
I said to my friend after seeing the movie, “Disney has fallen completely in the music department with this movie. The songs were terrible. One song, from the Big Bad, is him just ‘singing’ ‘Make you go bye-bye’ about 37 times. It’s like watching bad improv when the songs happen. But the overall story line was great.”
I had a feeling from the original that they weren't blood brother so I googled it a decade ago, I learned they don't really have brothers. Lions move on and usually only one male in the pride. This just completed the story for me. Also, the reason he's still around in their later years is Scar saved his life like 3 times Scar's mother raised him. Have to agree with you...the music did not hit.
@@sm4carnageihope - Moses and Taka get taken in by a royal family. They both become brothers of a princes. John you said Sonic 3 would make less than Mufasa and now that’s not looking like it’s going to happen. Do you have any comments to make about being wrong?
The 2 films that Disney needs to do live action adaptions are Atlantis and Treasure Island.
Oddly enough….the original director of the lion king said Mufasa and Scar are blood related. This feels like what they did in Snake Eyes
Have you seen Simba pride
Maybe they changed it to try and erase the detail of incest in lion king 2 with simbas daughter and scars son being married and such

I literally said Rafiki was my favorite and the flashback with the actor who voices him sounds just like Robert Gulliaume.
Most viewers said the music was not great

I saw Mufasa, I like it.
I enjoyed it myself
I have zero interest in this.
The music in this by miranda was so bad
The music was created after the script was already finished and that's the weirdest part about the whole thing

It was an okay movie if i could rate it out of 10 it would be 7/10 or 7.5/10 the music let it down big time
If the music was the worst part and i love the music then the movie will be great.
For me, Lin Manuel is hit or miss with his music. He has a very specific style that fits in certain things but not everything. Scuttlebutt is by far the worst song he’s ever made
The music was great and this is coming from someone who hates musical kind of movies
I really liked the music. I have been listening to it for about a week. I would give the movie a B or B+. My biggest issue was Scar's turn. That was Ankin level quick.
Enjoyed the movie and not a musical guy but the music didn’t bother too much. I’m also not a a huge fan of The Lion King as a franchise.
I liked milele and we go together a lot.
The visuals are technically impressive but aesthetically bereft. Fidelity and art style are not the same thing.
The ending felt a little rushed, after the whole scar thing and villain came to a close it felt like with was quickly trying to wrap it up
I'd just got out of Mufasa and thought it was enjoyable. It is better than the 2019 Lion King and can say Milele and Always Wanted a Brother were the better songs. Some of the pacing I had an issue so far. Again, it's how I thought of this film.

Enjoyed the movie, the brother song is catchy and enjoyable. I had higher expectations but the movie is still very good imo
‚The perfect jean‘ advertisement right after the ‚shallow end of the gene pool‘ quote was perfect.
Which have better music Mufasa or Moana 2
Both are good

"Shallow end of gene pool" is a line in the original film, but this is a prequel to the remake, which that line is not present in.
