  • A lot of anglers do not go into hook bait positioning as much as others when it comes to loading a hybrid feeder, method feeder or any other type of presentation. Steve Ringer talks us through WHY it is so important to load your hook bait correctly.

Really useful video. What would be the largest hook for the feeder?

This basically sounds like a list of reasons why not to use the new MAP hybrid feeders…

One interesting observation I made is that the fish didn’t feel the hook until they felt the weight of the feeder. Which I think proves the point that the fish don’t feel pain in their lips when the hook takes hold like some of the anti’s would have you believe. They only bolt once they sense that they’re attached to something.

Surely their argument would be that the pain is caused when we are dragging them in, not at the exact second the hook catches?

Dragging them in is highly emotive language! If I placed a kook in your lip and pulled against it I assure you, you wouldn’t be pulling against it because you feel pain in your lips. Fish don’t because there are no nerves or blood supply to their lips and so they are able to resist the pressure that is applied.

    Why didn't you try a 3" hook length ?

I have a question. is the use of a leader, e.g. 5 cm long, justified to increase the number of fish bites?
