[SPOILERS] That's important because the robot uses that to kill and cook the son in a meal, because the mom said "I should tell him to cook you if you make another mess" (or something like that), and the robot took that literally. He ends up killing the parents after them knowing they ate their son, then he kills the dog. When police arrive, he kills them aswell.
I mean.. uhhhh. Hmmmm. Yeah i don't know what to say about that. It just follows it's code i guess.

This is called projection. You are projecting your emotional reality within you onto things external to you to try and make them make sense. It's natural to do that as a human, but tends to cause many typical human problems in the world.

Tom was a little boy who wanted his parents to stop fighting. He thought Blinky could fix what was broken. But when his parents continued fighting, he knew that nothing was changing.
Tom is angry at the parents and himself for not being able to come together like a real family. He's lashing out that anger at Blinky. Which resulted in the deaths of Tom, his parents, and two cops.
