Love this. I switched to a flip phone though needed to switch back to a smartphone in the Summer for work, I loved the flip phone. I found a lot more to do with my time, I used our laptop for almost everything, and I never found myself just mindlessly scrolling. I honestly think smartphones are kind of dangerous (I spend more money with a smartphone, I'm distracted from what I love, I become lazy etc) and I'm looking forward to switching back to my flip phone! Way to go girl!!
I've been waiting for this video! Loved hearing your insights, Lan! As your real-life friend, I do miss the ease of our daily voice memo conversations 😝 but I have LOVED our more frequent phone calls! And you're inspiring me immensely to get serious about not being reliant on my phone and a constant influx of noise.
Thank you for sharing this! I’ve been trying to figure out how to get rid of my iPhone for a while and this is great encouragement to see someone else actually doing it ❤️❤️❤️
I heavily considered getting a light phone, but I live in an area without cell service, and light phone is not compatible with wifi calling exclusively (at least it wasn’t about a year ago). I deliberated a long time about it but finally decided to get rid of my cell phone completely and we got a good ole fashioned landline. It was actually more expensive per month to make that switch, but it is worth it to me to have my time back. My husband still has a smartphone, so I am able to use that for all the apps and tools, family group chat in the evenings and such, but I only have the landline and our computer when I'm home with my baby and toddlers during the workday. I agree that it has helped me to be more present with my kids for sure. I totally resonate with what you're saying. I just don't want to spend so many hours in front of a screen--I want to do other things with my time! And i also don't want my kids to grow up with a mom who is always on her phone!
Wow!! 6 months, that's amazing. You go, girl!! 👏 I logged out of IG for about 2 months, but then I have filled up that time with FB groups and YT videos. 4 years ago I gave up my smartphone for 4 years!!! I had a flip phone and it was the best thing ever. I missed taking photos and missed seeing friends, but I spent SO much time in the gym!!!! I don't think I want to give my smartphone up just yet, again.. but I'm unplugging alot now
I think showing us how you use it would be great!! Regardless if that company is coming out with s new version. Show us how this one, works for you!! ❤
@@theresa.m.unfortunately my current carrier will not unlock this phone and does not support the light phone :/ which is ok because i need a new carrier anyways haha
I am constantly listening to and watching podcasts. I feel like I have a constant”voice” speaking and I’m Uber distracted. I’m hoping to read more and be a better mom. Plus I am going through a very tough transition so unplugging is necessary for me right now
I use my phone calendar a lot. Can anyone speak to what they did to stay on top of schedules? I don’t love the idea of a physical pen and paper when things can change so much. I love the ability to edit events and put events in quickly (or appointments instead of taking any appointment card)
I am a sahm of two littles, and one of them has a ton of doctor’s appointments every month. I use a huge desk calendar, so that when something changes (which happens all the time), I can scribble it out, and still have plenty of space. It’s one of the best things I do for organizing his schedule.
I use a CAT FLIP S22, game changer. $45 bucks on amazon, not slow, has Spotify, bible app, audiobooks.. whatsapp, full color and touch screen. It's a mini smart phone in flip form, and it doesn't inspire me to scroll or look through social media. also, I take and send pics and videos :) would definitely recommend. a
I switched to a flip phone 6 months ago. It's a cheap tracefone from wal mart. Not classy. Has GPS t9 texting and phone calls. It's 15 monthly and was 30$ to buy the phone itself. I've never felt better.
loved this video i have a flip phone (in jewish communities they are recommended without internet, better for mental health, etc). I have the same struggles my biggest issue is taking pics and have nothing to send to grandparents on whatsapp bc my dumb phone just has basic pics and i cant take videos properly...but the disconnect is priceless. thank you for this video i feel seen :D
Thanks for sharing this video, I've been considering switching phones too and I appreciate knowing how you are practically doing this in your life.

For a camera we got the campsnapcam and I love it! It’s such a simple camera I let the kids use it even!
The upgrades they made are perfect!
Mission drift! Love this term!

buy a digitall camera! Lumix used to make great quality affordable ones, but I haven't checked in years
I’m off of instagram and Facebook and I’d love to get rid of my smartphone. It’s a big distraction for me. Especially when we homeschool…
As soon as I run this iphone 12 into the ground, I’m getting lightphone 3 and the mighty music player for Spotify on the go ❤
You can switch back and forth. I bought a Lightphone a few years ago, and you can take the SIM card out and switch between the two.

Troomi is a good option for a camera, maps and approved tools but no social media

Trying to pull back on usage especially because of screen habits I'm seeing in my 5 yr old
Has anyone used the new Nokia block phone? I kind of want one but haven't heard much about it

Can you do a grocery order on it?
How you do Instagram and RUclips? I do use the phone for my recordings, but I have the same issue as you. 😅

Doom scrolling has to stop.
