These days it course fish as I can’t get to the coast but to me fishing is fishing and it definitely helps me

Leader knots are a pain for picking weed up, I use a blob of glue over the top of your prepared knot, a glue from a brand called Loon very appropriate ha. Loon UV knot sense it’s called, I put a blob on the knot then use a toothpick or cocktail stick to taper the blob both sides toward mainline and leader to form a smooth covering over the knot also helps with casting no clashing on the rings Just trim the knot well before applying the glue then use a blacklight on the glue to cure it, only takes a minute or so hence the UV part of the name, The beauty of this glue is it doesn’t dry solid hard it’s flexible when dry, used by fly fishermen for gluing down braided loops to fly lines, give it a bash

If you pop up your bait with 20mm plystyrene ball,it will keep the bait up higher than the crabs can reach.

Splashdown are a cracking bit of kit, great for clipping down baits. Cart and coral comes from the insides of edible brown hen crabs rich, it's been a killer cod bait around whitby since the 70s. The coral is stuff that turns into the crab eggs. Up here in the north east we use crab wings for cod bait aswell. Cart and coral need to be kept frozen rich so we use a thermostat flask with a wide mouth and authentic baits in there wrapped in clingfilm, remove the clingfilm before you bait it up and it will last longer in the water.

I’ve fished this beach for over 40 years, keep your bait simple to what’s available for the fish in this area peeler/softie or mussels. Doesn’t fish to well in the winter, good for bass etc in summer, fish small tides from high water to 4hrs ebb 👍
