I bought a red one around the start of September and have been driving and modifying it since, inner fenders, scale accessories and extra lights. Absolutely fantastic truck, I'd recommend it to anyone.
@@Martsmodelworkshop try as you might, you canny bad mouth Traxxas. Tired and tested, very well made and not much goes wrong with their mechanical parts. I’m excited to use the Geo and can see FTX are moving in the right direction but that’s coming off the back of some very unreliable mechanics in their previous outback models.
Not sure I'd buy one of these over my TRX4 Sport, but it's certainly a big step up for FTX. My son loves his Mauler, and this has some subtle mods now, but he's just watch this video and wants an upgrade!! 😬👍🏻
i went for the Texan, at first i was not overly impressed but i have stretched the wheelbase and mounted rear shocks to an upright position and now its a great truck
I purchased the RGT version of this truck and it is a very good truck. But I think that the FTX version may have better quality control. Mine had minor issues such as the light bar and inner head lights didn't work out of the box, but, no biggie, the other lights do work. Also, I could not get the center caps to fit. The stock tires are pretty good, so I kept them and changed out the wheels and purchased Injora negative off-set wheels and brass wheel weights. I had to pull the front bumper out about 2 to 3 notches. End result, it's now in "Beast Mode"! I love the wider stance and its damn near unstoppable. Better than a Traxxas TRX4, meh I will shy away from that and stick with, I really like the RC and am glad that I have one. My truck is blue, so I went with black wheels with red center caps. I will say this in closing, this is a truck that the competition CANNOT sleep on, and it doesn't take a lot to improve its performance.
NO way I would take this over the trx4 sport, trx has portal axels and traxxas legendary part support, I can still walk into a hobby shop and buy off the shelf stuff for my 20 plus year old traxxas stuff. Good luck trying to buy Geo parts 5 years from now. Great video as always!
@@archiejay5012 preach it brother, LOL literally the most important thing I look for before purchasing an RC of any kind is part support say what you want about Traxxas but there is no company with a better track record of part support than Traxxas.
Portal axles suck how many portal axles do actually see in full scale rock crawling!and just more stuff to wear out and break on top of that Traxxas sucks nothing but over priced plastic that you have to put hundreds of dollars in to actually make any traxxas any good I had a first and only Traxxas I've owned was 4x4 slash brushless and spent so much money on it to make it any good I got rid of it just so I could say I don't own a Traxxas.what kind of rc company that sells there products for alot of money would use plastic cv axles on everything they make especially with brushless power the dumb asses even use them in that big ass piece of junk x Maxx there like a thousand dollar alot of power and use plastic cv axles wtf you spend 700-1,000 dollars on any rc and shouldn't have to upgrade a damn thing!!!
If people really think Traxxas isn't over priced junk, they are being delusional. They are engineered to break/upgrade. Why do you think they have their own whole line of aluminum upgrades? It's business. All rc are pretty cheaply made and sold with an outrageous mark up but traxxas takes the cake! Axial is a very, very close second. No, I think axial takes the cake lol
This is pretty nice! I think my next RC is going to be a crawler. Seems like it would be a lot of fun just going out finding good spots to go crawling. Money is always an issue when it comes to the hobby though. Well, at least for me it is so I really appreciate when you do the less expensive RC products so I can see what there is available and see what I can afford. Thanks again for such an amazing channel!🙏🏻
Money is the reason why iam not so into bashing 😄 I have a crawler for a little over a year now. Was hard to decide how much I wanted to invest. A least I bought a cheap Motor 😅
In my humble opinion FTX (CML Distribution.. Hobao/Associated/Corally/Carisma/Hobbywing/3Racing & more) ) are pretty much the best RC brand/importer in the UK today. They have a HUGE range, they release new stuff regularly, they're as durable as any other brand & their parts are cheap as chips & readily available. I have 7 or 8 FTX's out of about 20 RCs & I love them. Especially the DR8.! I've had it for 18 months, thrashed it regularly on 6S & I've only needed to replace the rear pin holder a couple of times.
Got the RGT ex86120, FTX is not available in our place. They are just all same same though. Really awesome crawler in all aspect especially the price👍😊👍
Got mine in Blue, got 20% off from Align T-rex just after it came out, only thing I done to mine is Trim most of the Vertical edge trim off the fenders, looks ok and the tyres no longer catch and make that clicking noise now. Use supplied battery and a Lipo, runs very well. Most spares seem readily available from at least a couple of places in UK from what I have seen on Web.
I also have this vehicle and I agree 100%% I was absolutely shocked how well it performs, the upgrade and part availability is great too! (Online) Aside from this, I got the small 1/16th Rgt 136161 for my son! Also phenomenal for the price. Awesome little crawler will be buying another for myself. Love your vids keep it up.
Awesome truck, Tomley! Great ride there! 😃 You know... Maybe with pan and tilt servos and a head tracker... I could crawl like that in FPV. 😬 Some day I'm going to try! Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
The price though is right in the middle between the TRX4 sport and the TRX4 with the 2spd and lockers. I think I would just get the TRX4 for the parts support being so easily available
Hi. The one ftx I really thought you would have tested is the ftx gladius. Being the ftx embassador you have been unofficially nominated 😁. Would love to see it on your channel and see what you think.

Tomley, I haven’t been much of a Scaler or crawler guy. But this FTX is looking really good. Thank you for a great video on this rig. Giving me some motivation for my Vaterra F-100. 🤟
Impressive! I'd guess the Geo is like an "evolved" Hi-Rock. I bought a Hi-Rock recently and IMHO it's a great trail truck with some scale looks whilst still having crawl capability. I also like the battleship grey colour. There's loads of new full size cars out there with a similar paint job, so perhaps it's a current fad? I've left the 4 links and Panhard bar on my Hi-Rock because, even though it's a trail crawler the massive amount of geometry-changing bump steer was annoying for me to see. Incidentally, the Panhard bar on the Hi-Rock has a turnbuckle in it and, rightly or wrongly, I get the full droop allowed by the stock shock absorbers. Thank, Phil!
Yah, the dual spring is called dual spring or dual rate springs. Some motorbikes have dual rates on a single spring, so a closer "wind" at one end for a few inches.

I get you, its nice but having owned a TRX-4 for 9 months and putting it through hell with few issues I doubt its worse than an FTX. For example, I have been waiting for Mauler drive shafts for 5 months now, even when they come they will be just as brittle as before. A friend has a High Rock and brings spare parts out on the trail with him because he knows they will break. If this is DR8 quality then fine but component quality and spares should be a factor in this comparison imo. 🤓

Great video and review. It is a cool looking truck too. The FTX models are really good for the money and with a few upgrades are even better. They just don't like water very much, so if you plan on taking it in lots of water just be careful, ask me how I know! lol Also the driveshafts aren't the best and can have issues, especially if you run the truck on 3S which the ESC is capable of. I think the driveshafts are better on the Texan, as the Geo ones look the same as the Hi-Rock.
I bought a red one around the start of September and have been driving and modifying it since, inner fenders, scale accessories and extra lights.

Where would your money go if you had to decide between the Geo, or the Element RC Crawlers? (Love your content btw) 😊
Tough choice… really tough lol. The Element gearboxes are really nice
@@TomleyRC thank you, that may swing it for me. I’ll go with Element for now and save my pennies for the Geo on another occasion… 😊🙏
At first glance I thought it was a HPI Venture but I think this is a bit bigger and probably better value for money
Great looking rc!
Looks epic!!!!!!
Do you think that in the HB TOYS look alike we can fit the housing and the gears from the FTX GEO ?
I wonder what it would do switching to a brushless castle more and 3s lipo
I went for something more unusual looking, the JT4. That does look like a lot of fun too though.
What are your thoughts on the ftx kanyon?
Great video and review. It is a cool looking truck too. The FTX models are really good for the money and with a few upgrades are even better. They just don't like water very much, so if you plan on taking it in lots of water just be careful, ask me how I know! lol
Also the driveshafts aren't the best and can have issues, especially if you run the truck on 3S which the ESC is capable of. I think the driveshafts are better on the Texan, as the Geo ones look the same as the Hi-Rock.
