I personally prefer the "less is more" style of crawler. Less to break, and more like the vehicles of my youth. To lock the diffs we used to have to get muddy, no remote lockers on our GMC. And we never had a single portal axle.
Ya know what, Phil... You're my favorite RC RUclipsr. Always just a pleasant, fun, informative video. Plus, I'm relatively new to the RC hobby but even just watching you replace or repair things has been loads helpful for me too! So keep em' coming!
Phil, the Trooper version in Australia is a variation of the Land Cruiser, but it's the long wheelbase version, not the shorty. Isuzu Troopers were sold in Oz as the Holden Jackaroo, so I guess Toyota could use the name.
This is an excellent upgrade video. It really performed extremely well. It was very impressive on the rocks. It appears to have a shorter wheel base like the Bushido.
Jeremy Clarkson of the RC industry, POWER!!, WHEEL SPIN!! Without a true 1:1 comparison it's really not something to base an opinion about is it, are the upgrades worth it? Would love to see a run with the stock car, and then again with one upgrade and so on. Would take a long time but would be great to see.
FTX have definitely upped their game I've got the gladius and I think it's awesome box stock but with a few upgrades on it it's epic 100% well worth the cheap price tag on
@@EriMCardenasRC pretty sure it’s the income of the content. If the video/upgrades result in more income than the expense it’s a win. If the creator makes money from a video about remote control mops then it doesn’t quantify the value of these upgrades.
I won't give grief for calling it cheap, but we have gotten used to being so overcharged that a relatively reasonable price seems cheap. And yes $400 in upgrades is a bit excessive.
I think the only upgrades anyone needs to do as a start to a crawler is Fusion Se, and a servo. Much more is just personal choice. I also think fusion has negated the need for 2 speed, it's so controlled low down and enough wheel speed on 3S to get you into and out of trouble.
It's unlikely but I'd like them to do a parts bin special - lwb body, 2 speed and straight axles. If my maths is right the Trooper is exactly 1/8 scale but I want a lwb (or crew cab pickup!) but not on portals.
im still on the fence about crawling, you make it very appealing with your videos and this truck seems to have quite a bit of speed as well. My 6 year old loves bashing around but he has been drawn to crawling as well, I can see his fertile imagination ticking over when he watches these videos. He asks me can we get a crawler that can go fast as well? So maybe I should bite the bullet with this, its not super cheap but as you say not crazy expensive either,, Nice video as always. 😁
I have delt in my head on getting a traxas udr . After watching videos about this truck , vigivon is a very large supplier of this truck . So ur question to a vehical did u invest I feel yes but it starts with where ur going to start & where ur finished putting even more cash into ur ride . U know also what's going to break so build as u go I say . Can't make anything in competing or whata in ur head of ur thoughts how it should be to drive where ever .
Hey, i recently bought a traxxas trx4 bronco 2021 and i wanted to know if you have any tip to prevent the screws to rust after running trough water/mud (i also wanna know if i made a good choice buying it😅)
Gently and thoroughly wash and dry it afterwards. Look at an engine bay cleaning video for ideas (because they have electronics to be gentle and dry with), or try bicycle shampoo (because they have many of the same high tech materials to avoid ruining with cleaning chemicals). Stainless steel screws + cleaning if that doesn't work, and try to avoid toxic waste dumps ☣️😈😂
Nice crawler. It does seem er, fast for a crawler. Did well though. I am wondering how those brass bits handle the moisture and mud. Brass usually just gets an oxide coating happening and it's fine. If there's any dissimilar metal nearby though?
Hey man I have learned a lot from your channel especially on the WPL rigs I have built one myself and I would love to show it to you if you can arrange for me to do that
I started upgrading mine. I tried a Hobbywing ESC 1080 first, as well as a Radio link receiver but the lights don't work. The red light on the little light box controller just blink red and that happens on any channel. I don't mind loosing the light functions but I want to have the basic lights working. Any ideas?
I just hope some day we will have actually quality cars.. like a diecast 1:14 rc at a fair price. take the price of an mjx 14th scale and the price of a diecast car. You can get an okay 1:12 diecast with plenty details for 100€ and the mjx 14th for 150€ so where is the combination for 300€?
I wonder how well it would have done with the same wheel/tyre upgrade and a tenner's worth of roofing lead, cut into strips and wrapped round the axles, either side of the pumpkin.

Looks like a great place to start in crawling. I like the simpler nature of the chassis.

You're thinking of the Troopy.

Very nice !
Love the camera angles, your calmness and a splash of humor 😆👍
Cheers dude 😇
Nice "air" at the end Phil - not bad for a crawler with one speed 💨🚙😂
Haha… we sent it off there loads to get a good shot. Didn’t break a thing!

Yes, same wheelbase as the Bushido 👌

Yeah, Cheap is only really used in a video to get people taking.

Actually looks decent and simple, the fact it performs too is a massive bonus 😃
Enjoyed this one more than usual 👍👍
Seems like a quality rig. Value for money seems right. Looks capable. All that while looking scale good! 👌
Watching these super rc cars is really satisfying
Would be nice if they released a 2-door variant or maybe even a Ute variant as the Ute ones are very popular here in Australia
This is a 2 door. Ute would be good 👌

Awesome truck indeed, Phil! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Yes, really good stock or upgraded!
We need more short wheelbase Crawlers! ❤
Agree 🫡
Ok now I'm jealous, that looked like a good bit of fun
I wish I would have waited for the 2 door! Great video as always!👍👍👍👍🚙🚙
How did you change the motor? Did you have to change the receiver and controller? Thank you for your safety.
Hopefully mine will be here in the next couple of weeks love the look of this truck
What in the world? Didn't see that bomb off the hill at the end coming. Awesome!!!
Very nice body and i like these red curved lives in the sides of the truck. Reminds me 80's trucks and farmer trucks.
cool truck, pretty impressed with it, mud made front wheels almost a ball of mud 😎👍👍👍😎
Yeah lol
Looks very cool think I'd rather have the planned long wheelbase version that's due later in the year though!
This truck is very good . Polish ur driving & it can minuver anywhere .
'trooper' will be a copy of 'troopy' which was an lc 70 series with a larger back and was used in the army to carry troops

I put tons of stuff on my Ecto (Thanks Phil), and anything that does not work, gets taken off. Keep only the best.

The BEST price is the element trail runner really rtr for 300 us incluid batery and lipo charger
looks very capable although i still say motor/esc and servo better radio and tyres are always to me just standard things to change lol
Considering that bit at the end, I'd say it's worth the upgrades 👍
They probably used the australian slang for the old 70 series land cruisers. "Troopy" or troop carriers.
Just came to say this 👍
i bought
mine and put some treal wheels and a 1080 in it and it does great on the trails!!
Awesome little crawler that is

A little late from the video, but I had the same issue with my suspension on the Trx4m.

Not this year. I’m at ROSSA a few days after, so haven’t time to do both events

Where did you get it from?
I haven't but I've had my eye on one for a while now.

But is it better than the Bushido?🤔
You did not waste money, you spent it on your Hobby and your source of income. Therefore you invested it.
Tomley what do you reckon is a good, cheep, quality crawler 🤔
It is with all things...cheap,good,quality...you can have only 2out of the3.😉
