Also, of course Nazis did have one of the highest death tolls recorded in the history but they were already..."dead". To say it clearly: no one has the right to blame me morally for NOT beeing proud. No one has the right to ask me to be proud.
Furthermore, I see no reason to be proud of a past in general. Whether it was good or bad.
Cause past is neither my merit nor my fault.
If there was any bad or good in history in the world, then I look at it rather as a duty to continue good or avoid known mistakes.

By 1943, Britain had already a jet fighter, imagine what kind of technology they could've come up if they won the war.
      en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gloster_Meteor
Seriously, the whole 'omg nazi germany so superiors in technologies' thing is a myth. They were better in some areas, like missiles and tanks, but the British were better in other areas like jets and radar, the Americans built an atomic bomb. Enough said. Russians were early developers of mobile rocket artillery and helicopters, and the Japanese were excellent ship builders - they built a fricken aircraft carrier submarine - and also made the best torpedoes of the war.
Each nation had technological strengths and weaknesses. That should be obvious. But movies and video games tend to virtually fetishize Nazi Germany as being decades ahead technologically, when the truth is they were not.

+ 施宇洋 To keep the weight and CG correct, the GE turbines were mounted in heavy nacelles to mimic the look of the 004s. Because of the more powerful CJ610s, the pilots reference power settings to equal the Jumos so that stress is not put on the airframe, although the extra reserve power is available if needed.

The ME262 was a game changing aircraft and WW2 did lead to huge advances in technology. You can see the similar design lines in the 1950's VW Karmann Ghia body design.

Seems like there is a popular misconception that this is an original aircraft from WW2 it is not. It was a replica made by an outfit called 'The Me-262 Project' in the United States that made 5 airframes in both single and two seat versions. They are power by highly reliable General Electric CJ610 engines also used in Learjets. Evidently there is one original Me-262 undergoing restoration but it is not this one. Still beautiful replicas & have read in test the aircraft responded very well & was neutral (easy) to fly.

    • @techreviewsau

Especially given that in the original ME-262 fighter, each jet engine had to be completely replaced after a maximum of 12 flying hours... (Yes, that's right - 12 FLYING HOURS!)

because the engines are modern engines and not the originals.
the original bmw 004 engines had a high risk of flame outs, engine burnouts and other malfunctions in midflight, due to the construction and unavailabillity of chromium and other metals for the chambers etc.
the life expectancy of a ww2 engine was around 25hours. also do these engines respond very slowly and are from a modern standpoint a safety hazard

The only advantage the Me-262 had was speed. It had a wide turn radius and the jet engines were not responsive enough for a fair turning fight. It was an interceptor, not a dogfighter.

***** It was already an obsolete design by 1946. The Czechs had a complete and undamaged production factory and they tried to resume production of the Me-262 (Avia S-92) and it was hardly successful with little interest as an export fighter.
