- Welcome to part 1 of the Great Eastern Circle, a 3-part series documenting my travels between St Louis, Chicago, and Washington DC this January. 2 segments by air, and 1 by train.
Today's trip is from St Louis to Chicago Midway on a brutally cold, snowy afternoon. This weather meant some cool footage from the landing at MDW. I also caught a ride on the CTA and included an updated review of the downtown Travelodge. Hope you enjoy!

Your trip reports are the best, and you started it before it got cool. Nowadays everybody is doing trip reports. Thank you for the videos and the immersive experience
I agree p!ease keep it up. The airport in St. Louis sure has grown.
I love your trip reports! I didn’t expect to see you as soon as the camera came on, but I like that though! Great video as always!
The Elevator Channel - come for the elevators, stay for everything else
Yes!!!!! Another trip report!! Loved it!!!!!!! Keep up the great work
RUclips recommended: another trip report from the Elevator Channel.
Cracks open some Coors and chips, sits down to watch intently.
I love your videos!!! Plus your voice is soft and reassuring!! I want to watch all your videos! Over and over!!!
Finally a Trip report!
Awesome! Love your trip reports! Hope you visit San Antonio again and Id suggest you fly delta in here. The fly 717s into SA (Sometimes).
Love the sound of those CFM6-7s spooling up.
The classic 31C arrival. I live in Southwest Suburb's of Chicago an have departed/arrived on all the major runways, 31C/13C an 22L/4R many of times.
Love the rocking chairs at St Louis Airport. Chicago looked very cold. Now for the next Amtrak Train video.. That will look like fun in the cold weather.
Awesome video as always Jacob! This video was amazingly detailed and boy that approach looks like the North Pole lol!
Awesome video man I loved it
The new trip report intro is great!
yaaaaaaaaay!!! Great vid man!! By the way, YOU GRABBED THE TOILET SEAT FROM THE INSIDE...
Great video 😀👍👍
Enjoyed video, thanks
love low-cost Southwest!
Great tripreport. Liked and subscribed.
I like the new intro!
Hey there I'm only 15 years of age and have a struggle reading your words for the few seconds you display them but other than that your videos are awesome and I love them hope to see part 2 and 3
The new trip report intro is great!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤part 1❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
This is great
It looks like you took the Cardinal to DC. The other video that I saw from someone made that took the same train showed some interesting scenery, but he took it in the fall. Anyway, that seat on the CTA train is sometimes referred to as the "hobo corner". I say sometimes because there are some people who use that term to only refer to the seat in the unused operator cab.
I was going to connect in Midway, but the snow prevented it!
The moving walkways that St. Louis airport has is the same ones that MDW has which I find interesting
That landing - about 1,500 feet of remaing runway at the exit point?
Short, indeed!
The hotel accommodations meet my standards and budget.
Thanks for the information.
When Will You Make A Full CTA Train Ride Video?
there used to be a lot going on mc donnel douglas now boeing looks like not anymore
and flown out of stl-ord basically its like following I-55 up there cept we went over alton Carlinville then springfield
well I was just over on terminal 2 like a day ago working.
Liked!
I love flying out of midway because I only live 25 mins from there.
Amidst the Government shutting down. I had no issues Flying to Seattle on January 19th, Then I took Amtrak Back to St. Paul. Then flew back home to Sioux Falls. One good thing about Sioux Falls was no TSA. They have contracted security there being that it is a regional airport. But overall no issues on my trip during the shutdown.
I found it interesting that in Chicago they deice the planes in the gate area. At Canadian airports we have separate areas for it that have drans that are completely separate from the rest of the drains in the airport so that the deiceing fluid doesn't get anywhere else.
Probably just space constraints, given that it's such a small airport.
small yes useful room.
Nice vid, what song was used at 23:25?
When is part 2 and part 3 coming
What is happening to the rest of the d concourse? Do they plan on bringing the other parts of the D concourse back?
Which CTA Route you took, oh yeah, the orange line, I was thinking its the blue line and the blue line goes to O’Hare, And the orange line goes to midway
Why part 2 and 3 not coming up
awesome. the day before this i actually had a snow day ;)
the new intro is also really cool!
Shut up queer
Southwest Airlines New Livery Airplane is Taking Over And Phasing Out The Cannon Blue livery
Sucks you didn’t get a 737 MAX(there are currently 34, with 513 -700s, and 207 -800s)
And they are currently grounded
Those hallways on the third floor kinda look like the hallways of a school
i was at midway at jun 9 cleveland airport
Your 2 other video links aren't working
I like the creative intro, but speaking of which, I’m flying southwest right now! I’m flying from Baltimore with my family to New Orleans to visit relatives. No, I don’t do trip reports unlike you, but I wanted to give a heads up.
make a trip report to see how many people watch.
Sam Sitar sadly, I won’t because I’m never sure which airport my family is flying from, which airline my family is on, and how the outcome will turn out.
I live in bmore
New Southwest interior??
i liked the video not a fan of the hotel room could use a good upgrade on everything
The bulkhead seats don’t have a seat table.
St Louis to Orlando (MCO)
midway airport had a southwest plane runoff the runway in 2005
👍🏻
Not bad if you aren't travelling with the "wife". The price is right !!! The location looks pretty good too!!!
I thought O'Hare was the only airport in Chicago.
I don’t understand the 410 eastern
The original time of arrival; because Southwest Airlines is headquartered on the east coast, times are American eastern time, even though both St. Louis and Chicago are in the Central time zone.
Phineas and Ferb the Southwest
😂😂🤣
412

Chicago midway airport is nice airport is better than Chicago O’Hare
Glad you were able to thaw out. Hope you checked for syringes in the closet.

The boss baby the season 1
The boss baby the season 2
The boss baby the season 3
Chicago isn’t in eastern time
Did you just touched the toilet lids with bare hands and then grabbed the coffee pot? Yikes!!! Is a budget hotel. You of all people should know those budget hotel chains only give the appearance of clean.
You lifted the toilet seat then went and touched the coffee maker??? This confirms why I don't like staying in hotels, you never know who's touched what. The next person staying there may want to make some coffee, having no idea about the bacteria you left behind. I enjoy your video's but that is beyond disgusting.
germaphobia…
