What he does actually inspired me to visit this place and film. It was not as crowded and I got some lovely footage of The King's Guards. I also like the way he films and his footage of this weekend was excellent.

It's definitely time to stop allowing people so close. A barrier is needed to keep every one away , so as to stop all the touching.
At first, I disagreed with this idea, although I see the need, because it may hinder their time and abilities to respond real threats. However, the more I see, allowing people so close is becoming more and more of a threat in and of itself. If the LEOS and guards are constantly having to put unruly visitors in their place, it obstructs them from doing their jobs.
You are so correct, I try to watch every day. I don’t live in the UK but someone needs to start a petition to get what you suggested. Look what just happened with this horse,
No barrier, not far to the horse, Respekt needs to be taught, the riders themselves perhaps or the police, someone needs to show the tourists how to behave. (Parents take note too)

I agree. Many people have never been near an animal bigger than a cat or dog. They have no idea how powerful these animals are or can be if frightened or teased. I don't think people need to be near these beautiful animals.
They don't mind people touching the horse. It's in nearly all UK based sites that give info on visiting the guards, petting the horse is OK. Personally I don't touch working animals but they allow it.

I loved what the Horseguard did. It ended the matter. Many tourists who push the envelope of rudeness and entitlement don’t realize the guard can reposition the horse for more than nipping and jacket pulling when visitors disregard the appropriate personal space of the King’s Guard. and Horse. I hope the guard will not be reprimanded for the ignorance of the visitors provoking guard and horse. Guard and Horse A+++++

Having to contend with some of those tourists especially the narcissistic entitled type would drive me nuts- Kudos to those guys who have to put up with their crap every time they are on duty there. The horse was getting very distracted at times by thoughtless tourists and as a Horseguard I would be very concerned .
Yeah, and it appears it was the end of the shift, thus the horse was getting antsy probably knowing. Though the screams didn't help, that's for sure (I fail to comprehend that).
The other comments on here thinking they tease the horse with their hand out, ..quite contrary, horses are naturally curious and want to smell, ..not much different than a dog. Some smells can get them pretty riled up.

@@hisservants8003 It's possible, but they have hundreds of thousands of smell they are exposed to daily being out there, many repeatedly. I would doubt that would be too different. I'm leaning on the horse knew what time it was...and if they give them oats after a posting, well, horses love oats.
@@Normandy1944 Precisely why tourists should stay clear - horses ARE dangerous being such a large creature but also has a highly sensitive nature - staying clear of them when they are on duty with the horseguard solider is also a very good saftey issue for the tourists to. Buska has already filmed on incident where one of the horses got out of control.
I've worked very closely with the public in customer service, and you're right on. I can only imagine the irritation these guards must go through.

Because that's what a lot of tourists want, like that crazy lady who's been told off a billion times. Winding them up gives drama, and drama is entertainment, which can get them attention. Or gives them the chance to play the victim + go on a power trip, as if they're in the right.

The screaming and noisy tourists should definitely be moved along. They are just teasing and aggravating the horse. Someone could get hurt. This is abusive to the horse. The horse should be off-limits, so the tourists can't touch them. I worry about what might be on their hands when they rub the horse's muzzle.
I feel so bad for that horse, having to listen to all those people and the voices all around him, and being petted, and looked at! It cannot be easy for the guard, atop the horse either!

If you look at other videos the officers are active. Don't judge by one video.
You think they are standing around but they are watching every move .
How do you know that what they're chatting about isn't informing each other of reasonable threats, planning for crowd control, and such? The LEOs likely came over to talk with the guard about the horse being upset. And if they are casually talking, they can't also monitor at the same time? That doesn't mean they're always or mostly chatting, either. I've seen in other videos where they've stepped in and told a Karen off.

To be honest, I think the horse was annoyed and scared, but I think there was something wrong with its bit. It kept moving its mouth around before they had a break.

I’m always afraid that someone might try to give the horses something that is on their hands which will disrupt their behaviour.
This is what I think was going on. They kept their hands up to the horse mouth, and insisted he lick the hands. Then poor horse had a interruption in his good behavior.
That’s what I’ve said before. They stroke the horse and touch its mouth and they could have anything in/on their hands. It definitely needs to stop, now.

I remember visiting Horse Guards in my youth and I can remember this kind of debacle being tolerated.

Petting the horses
Pulling on the reins
Annoying the soldiers
Then putting it up at night 😊
Or a painted line .....30 feet away. No approaching the guard. You couldn't get that close to a Marine guarding the White House.

I truly believe there should be a guarded limit to prevent people touching the horses. I fear there are some unkind people who deliberately smear harmful substances on the horses noses/ mouths that upset/bother the horses.

People are so ignorant towards animals. They think it's a zoo and they're there for their amusement. It's absolutely disgusting behavior. maybe I'm wrong, but I wonder if that horse was ill when he got back to his stable last night. I am sure those 2 girls at the start had something on their hands and the horse licked it.... His behaviour was erratic directly after.
No, the horse was just restless. He knew it was the end of his hour and he wanted his stall and hay. Horses like licking the salt off your hands and I've noticed that this horse tends to be a bit mouthy. The guard honestly should have shortened his reins a bit and the whole thing would have been avoided. But this job is a training exercise as well, to get them used to crowds and fuss in preparation for bigger events like processions.

I say this because the soldier who yells when he goes back inside didn’t effect the horse at all.

WTF!!! in all my years visiting London, and going past Horseguards, I never saw such crowds and behaviour. No wonder the poor horse spooked with all that shrieking and babbling and those horrible little brats literally shoving iPhones into its’ face. Thank goodness the crazy headscarf woman wasn't there today, hopefully she has finally been banned from her constant pestering. I really think it's time they put a barrier around the guards to prevent the pubic from getting hands on with these horses, they have a hard enough time standing there for long periods without the constant pestering from the public. My horse certainly would not be so patient.

Arnie is going to fool around until someone gets hurt and he gets banished permanently. Biting, or attempting to bite, should *not* be tolerated and Arnie should be reprimanded. His job is to stand there and guard. But I do agree tourists should be made aware that horses are unpredictable and could cause injuries. If you are not a horse person you wouldn't know that. But the horses should not be acting out like that without being corrected or things can escalate.
