I like your Davinci Resolve tutorials. I just wanted to say I really appreciate you taking the time to make and show us these tutorials (I see no one else is showing in their videos). Thanks a lot!!!
Thank you SO MUCH! You are my Hero today. I have the new 14.2 free version and this seems to work well. Very happy. You would not know how to remove a sensor spot, would you? It stays in same location on every frame, and I discovered it too late to do anything about it (I've cleaned the sensor in my camera now of course). Thanks again, my good man!
AerialLensVideo In Resolve 14 they introduced a new fx called Dead Pixel Fixer. It has 2 fill in methods: "Blend from surround" and "Clone from Elsewhere". Blend from surround is the default and the simplest solution.
Hot DOG! Really?! Fantastic - I will find it immediately. Often there are indeed great features in software, but hidden, usually because it is not a menu item, or because you are not using the the right "term" or label to search for it. Thank you, my friend! We all gotta use the correct label. I had to repeat 3rd Grade when I moved from England to the USA mainly because I did not know my "times tables" as I was questioned by the school on my first day. I did, however, know my multiplication tables as we all later discovered. Oh, well.
Ingenious trick! Thanks for sharing. The issue I have is that during my tracking, I have an object crossing over the tracked item loosing the tracking. I understand that I will have to track manually for the frames that the object crosses the tracked point. But The node that I am "cloning" show up on the object. I am curious to know if you have any ideas how to approach this. Thanks!
Thanks. To keep the object over top of the "clone" I would suggest a layer node. While you have the last "cloning" node (if you have more then one) selected hit Alt+L which will add a new corrector node and a Layer mixer. In the new corrector use a qualifier and/or power window to select only the object. (Don't forget to track any power windows)
I have a couple of hot pixels that are stuck and ruining my canon 5dmk2 wedding footage will this method work for those and if so how do I replicate this to match all the footage shot with that camera . . . ive been scouring the net all evening to find an answer im really hoping this will help me outmany thanks in advance
Yes this method will work. To replicate across multiple clips first set up the clone in an ungraded clip. Once it is set up right-click on the Viewer and select Grab Still from the context menu. Select all the clips you want to fix then right-click on the still in the Gallery and select Append from the context menu. This will add the node(s) you set up in the first clip to the node trees of all the selected clips.
thank you so much im gonna try this now my hot pixrl doesn't move but the backgrounds do will I have trouble if the I clone the clip one colour to match the primary clip then as it moves across another colour will I have a spot or a different colour ?
With this method you are not cloning a specific colour, you are selecting an area where Resolve looks to find something to cover the problem. The search area will be in the same relative place on the screen in each clip. You can then adjust each clip separately if necessary. I suggest keeping it small and close as possible.
ive had a go and its like the dot is so small its hard to cover it the area is much bigger than the the offending artefact . .do I need to track ? do I need to do as you suggest and do the cloning on an unedited clip ? then add to my project is this the same as in the colour page I add a new node to a clip then grade then I press ctrl-alt-G to take a "still" to enable me to apply that still to all the clips I need to have that grade on kinda ?? let me know if im heading in the right direction here its just the tracking that's tripping me up a littlemany many many thanks for your timemike
This tutorial is absolutely astounding- thank you so much!

Since the hot pixel does not move tracking does no good. If the covering area has to move it must be manually keyframed.
Wow...you've made my day..for real! wow wow wow
Thanks. Glad you liked it
cool!
Thanks
