    Eto'o was the African version of the Brazilian Ronaldo. Fast, technique, dribbling, and latching onto long through-passes. Best part, he never aged! Much like his face, his work rate and stamina has remained almost the same (Yes, 21 years footballing career, now almost 40 years old and he's still playing and scoring goals!)
    .... I remember when he signed with Chelsea, there was a ball the opponents' goalkeeper dropped on the grass for a kick out. Eto'o lashed forward at least 15 yards and stole it from the goalie before the goalie could cover the 5 yards he'd stepped back to kick it from.
    (Edit): And those rocket hamstrings also packed a bullet shot; _PES 2006, Shooting = 90_ .... Never forget, before Suarez, there was a Samuel!

    • @oslonorway547
      @oslonorway547 6 лет назад +53

      (Forgot to add): Eto'o was also the definition of agility; just think of a younger Cristiano Ronaldo at Manchester United. .... Matter of fact, before it became popular for footballers to apply white tape and/socks to the lower part of their socks to enhance on-pitch athleticism, Eto'o had already been doing it many years before.

    The biggest mistake Barcelona made was to swap Eto'o for Zlatan. Zlatan would leave Barcelona some months later due to some issues with Pep.

    Eto’o in an interview once said that Pep was “not a man”. That he would be to afraid to talk to him face to face and would have Xavi tell him that he wouldn’t be starting some games. Which is the dumbest thing Pep ever did as a manager. In desperate times he would substitute Eto’o into games only because he knew he would give him the results he wanted, and it’s funny because Zlatan says almost the same things about Pep that Eto’o does. Most notably that “he’s not a man”. You should do a video about that.

      Zlatan and Eto'o are strong characters. Only respect old-school managers, not the modern therapist-type managers.

      @@dappadondadda100 I'm a big Guardiola fan, but the comments above are correct. Since I speak French (which is also the mother tongue of Etoo), I've heard him in interviews speaking about Pep, he's very harsh towards him and makes some nasty points. Indeed similar to what Ibrahimovic says (in English, you can check it out yourself). Pepe might have some weaknesses that appear here and there when dealing with some people, notably with number 9s. His vision and style of play downgrades this position, and the classic number 9s seem to have problems with that. I dunno, could also be an ego thing... but I doubt it.

He is the only player ever to realise it. If you think it was just a coïncidence, not me because I'm pretty sure it Inter couldn't do it without him, and Barça would have surely kept the CL with Eto'o in the team. Etoo is the best African football player of all time. There should be no debate about this. No African player in the whole continent of africa, past or present can achieve what Samuel Etoo has achieved. The ballon d or is just a popularity contest. Etoo deserved that award in 2006 and even to 2010. The fact that luka modric can win it, tells me that. The ballon d Or is just a popularity contest, it is about favoritism, about who the higher ups like more. Even jose mourinho said he still does not understand why etoo never received that award. He even said etoo should have won that award, seeing all the great things he did on the football world, for country and clubs, with different world class clubs doing the impossible. Making the impossible possible. I understand that george weah has won the ballon d or and some other fifa awards. people need to understand that etoo and george weah played in different times. etoo played in a time when football had more world class players, he played in a tougher era. George Weah learned how to play football in Cameroon, he played for a Club in Yaounde. Mention Etoo 's name everywhere around the world, and even grandmothers and grandfathers and kids will know who he is, mention george weah name and people will ask you to explain who he is. Samuel Etoo has won so many important trophies and awards for his country in africa and on the world stage which is fifa, that no player in the continent of africa is yet to achieve. Forgive me if i Offend you. God Bless.

      Weah isn't as good as the ballon dor made him out to be. Coming from an African, the best African player ever is between Drogba or Etoo

    Eto’o first season in Inter was a huge success although he didn’t score many goals. Because Mourinho gave him the task of being more of a winger and in a more defensive role. The target man was Milito and Eto’o sacrificed his goal numbers for the sake of Inter and it paid off as Inter won the treble. In 2010/2011, he reverted back to his natural place with the new coach, Benitez so that is why he scored so many goals that season but they failed to retain Scudetto, only winning Coppa Italia...

    Inter had a black friday deal by signing Eto'o, Barca gave Inter $40m + Eto'o for Zlatan.
    Inter went on to win the treble by knocked out Barca at the semis of the UCL while Barca sold Zlatan again in 2010...I think they sold him to Milan to punish Inter somehow :P
