The SoulBound solution is a good short term measure while they figure out the balance. It has its limit when the Whales have maxed them out & newbies are hungry for more rewards. But there is always the option for team to remove the chains from the cards at some stage. That would make any "locking" initiative a "who knows what might happen" scenario... also the unlocking might also morph into other uses than financial.. they could be sacrificed to speed up Guild Buildings, Land Buildings, Potions, etc... we are only limited by our imaginaaaaation :)
So in Splinterlands this season. I had over 70 Chests in Diamond. Received less than 50 SPS and no packs no legendaries and 1 gold card. Almost no value. I spent 4k on cards and only rent a few cards now and I went way negative. It now costs me to play. So play to earn is not Splinterlands anymore. I had .8 SPS in Diamond chests. I thought they should reward the players here that are keeping the game going but they just drain you of your resources with a promise of a return someday. Nobody is in profit but a few people and they went cheap on the people they need. No point to play after you get enough Soulbound cards. Just rent cards because the return is NEGATIVE now. I need to spend another 2k to be in profit of $1.50 for 2 weeks of my time. Wow. People must love throwing money away.
Yea, we can't please everyone. Just need to hope that those who do believe, stays and continue believing. And those who don't believe, either leaves or find it in themselves to believe instead of trashing Splinterlands. Only reason I stay is I still see the founders doing whatever they can to bring value to the community. Sometimes I begin to question the community itself because part of that community fail to see that SPL is still a company that needs revenue. So you expect that their decisions will still be in line to Are they going to make revenue enough to continue running? Anyway When Tower Defense? Zero updates and delayed. :(

Luke, love to hear your thoughts about removing ecr to energy and limit the games to 50 battles.
