I personally have a DSi XL, which thanks to larger screens made it more fun to play certain games. I loved playing Final fantasy, Super Mario 64 DS, Chrono Trigger, and the Tony Hawk series (except motion). (Unfortunately, I no longer have Chrono Trigger DS because I sold it, and I sorely regret doing that). I also have a DS Lite as well but the smaller screen makes the system impractical for me. (My mom uses it to play Tetris DS and Planet Puzzle League so it doesn't just lay around gathering dust). If I want to play a GBA, I use my GBA SP. In case you're wondering, I play Metroid Fusion mostly. I have a few others which are RPGs.
