i played this on 3DO console , and it looked like modern cartoon, very good graphics with the same quicktime events... it was great
For the time, 3DO was absolutely one of the more powerful consoles despite its niche audience and I can imagine that they were able to make the game look far more faithful to its arcade counterpart which is really how the game should be experienced.
I've seen the box at a used game store, and honestly, it looks much better in motion than I'd expected. I kinda suspect this was intended to be a portable companion release to a full version of Dragon's Lair on a disc-based console, but perhaps that project was called off while this one actually succeeded. Kudos to the dev team for succeeding with what may have been the more difficult of the two projects, but I'm really not sure why the full version got canned. Perhaps it was either hardware limitations (ironically) or they couldn't get the rights to the original animation (at the time, anyway - if so, I know they did eventually).
Yeah honestly it's extremely impressive considering the hardware. Why out of all systems they put in the work to make it happen on GBC is the real mystery. You'd think by the year 2000 they would've just developed it for GBA which would've looked and played far better.
At least this looks much better than the NES port of the game.
Indeed, it's an actual faithful version of the arcade game unlike the NES version
This actually seems like a pretty solid version of Dragon's Lair. I mean, for 8 bit animations, it looks amazing!
Considering the hardware, yes it's quite fluid and still playable which is impressive
I personally have a DSi XL, which thanks to larger screens made it more fun to play certain games. I loved playing Final fantasy, Super Mario 64 DS, Chrono Trigger, and the Tony Hawk series (except motion). (Unfortunately, I no longer have Chrono Trigger DS because I sold it, and I sorely regret doing that). I also have a DS Lite as well but the smaller screen makes the system impractical for me. (My mom uses it to play Tetris DS and Planet Puzzle League so it doesn't just lay around gathering dust). If I want to play a GBA, I use my GBA SP. In case you're wondering, I play Metroid Fusion mostly. I have a few others which are RPGs.
is 12,660 idle hours a lot?
Very much so
Neat! Good review
Very interesting review.
Makes me sad the newest ones now are nearly 14 years old. Time flies. But tbh, in most areas, nobody gets nervous about a crown vic anymore, especially in the rust belt where the cars have long been retired due to rust etc. I just sold mine back in the summer, I'll forever miss it and loved driving it but going from 17 to 18 MPG average + rust to 40MPG on my Fusion Hybrid/Plug in and no rust I'm not complaining, especially when gas is over $6/gal here in Canada, NS 99% of the time. Drove vics for 10 years, so I definitely had my enjoyment from them but it was time.
Indeed it is sad. However at least here in the NY Metropolitan area we still have some hanging around. I'll usually see one every week or two which is always nice. The gas mileage I completely understand, at some point you've got to start thinking practically. Hope you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching
@@TheCesspool_ For sure they've definitely become more of a fun/enthusiast car than an economical daily (unless you live in an area where gas is consistently under $3/gal obviously or don't drive far at all). With age comes more repairs, etc. I'm just glad I got to have driven them for 10 years or so, don't regret it that's for sure.
childhood memories
I feel old
Yeah they're awesome man, got my 03 cvpi a few months back and its been great. Wanted one for multiple years, got it for $4k at a retired police car shop here in cali. 112k miles, brand new dark blue paint, freshly rebuilt trans, zero rust because its cali. All ive done so far is magnaflow flow fx mufflers and a k&n drop in filter, sounds SO clean. Plan is to lower it a few inches, limo tint, rims, and a nice sound system
Sounds awesome man, yeah the northeast has ravaged mine but she's tough. Good luck with it man
Good content. You showed a lot of positive things but at least it was shown that Willowbrook was one of many that were hell the majority of the eugenics around the world are so sad that many of the staff were worse or just as bad as some of the patient's. They all had bad things happening inside there is no sweeping that under the rug. It's a very hard area of humanity to manage is mental health everyone is different and needs different treatments.
You're absolutely right and while we try our best to show both the positives and negatives, there's no denying the serious issues that our mental health system has faced and we're just as obligated to showcase those issues as we are what was done right.
I live in Buffalo NY and that place gives me the creeps.
1:31 JFC wipe your screen
It's the childhood DS, I can tell you now that ain't coming off

You seem to combine the style of Scott's Stash and Y2KGamer (I think that's what their called). Not bad influences! You have a flow and appear comfortable talking. So many smaller channels have awkward guys mumbling and/or ranting incoherently through the video, but you manage me across as someone who've had practise in doing these talking videos. So that's good! Nice concept/subject too. Will check out your channel to set what else you got.
Appreciate the kind words! Definitely can't deny the influence of Scott's Stash on this video style, have to admit I haven't seen Y2KGamer but I'll have to check them out. Thanks so much for watching and yes please feel free to check out the rest of the channel
First
The video game crash never happened in Europe more specifically the UK because we had the 8 bit computers (ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64 and Amstrad CPC) which all flourished throughout the 80s.
I've got a 98 grand marquis and I'm interested in seeing if I could do some part swaps from an interceptor to boost it's performance while maintaining that Mercury luxury. I can attest to a lot of the things you said here applying to my car aswell since they are mostly the same just with some discrepancies due to model and year.
You should be able to honestly it's really a matter of making sure that the PI parts you get match the correct year since I know under the hood they did tinker around as the years progressed. If anything you could even look into SN95 mustang components.
@@TheCesspool_ Thats a very good suggestion, I'll keep that in mind as I look.
Brings back MAD (as in AWESOME) memories. I got mine Christmas of 1991 and it came with *Super Mario World* . I also got *Final Fight* and *F-Zero* for the system. Needless to say, it was a fantastic Christmas. Throughout 1992, I expanded my library. That year, I got *Final Fantasy II* , *Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time* , *The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past* , *Super Mario Kart* , *Super Castlevania IV* , *Axelay* , *Contra III: The Alien Wars* , *Super Scope 6* (along with the Super Scope, of course), and the most important game of all console releases at the time: *Street Fighter II: The World Warrior* ! It was a great time to be a gamer. I’m still a crazy gamer at 46, but nothing can top that first year with my Super Nintendo! Great video that flooded my mind with memories. Thanks a million!!! ❤❤❤❤ This is my first of your videos. Instant Subscriber. Keep up the excellent work. 😉
Happy to hear you enjoyed the video and yes it certainly was a fantastic time for gaming, I'd have loved to wake up to a super nintendo under the tree on Christmas morning
I've had a 1994, 2005, and two 2008s simultaneously because I accidentally won it at auction and had to sell one. I have no complaints about any of them.
They're fantastic cars at the end of the day despite their small quirks and flaws
Nice blast from the past. My first console was 2600 Not because im THAT old (though i am 45) but the industry crash, which i wasn't aware of at the time, meant the console brand new was fifty dollars and my mother was willing to buy it. I bought games for three dollars from the clearance bin in Montgomery ward. But i dont know if the crash was caused in any part by the realistic box art... There was no expectation for realism. The arcades had pac man and galaga. Also the nes had realistic box art.
Those boxes look so good. Not any scratches. 😮😊
Yes have to admit was very lucky to find them that clean
That’s cool. Have a nice day
Appreciated, you too
So thankful you created this video. I'm writing a novel set here about two of my ancestors who spent their lives in this place. For all the research I've already done, your story and photos have added a lot of details I might otherwise have missed.
Happy that this little video could help you with your novel. Best of luck with your research and I'd love to give it a read when it releases!
The Broadway Limited????
You are a saint, I'm not sure I could have watched those kids act like that without saying something to their parents! I remember I was on a dinner train when our kids were like 5 and 8 and the waiter was very complimentary about how our children behaved. I thought that odd, I mean we were on a $25/plate dinner train (back then that was the most I'd ever spent on a meal in my life), why wouldn't they be well-behaved? As the dinner progressed I saw what he was talking about. The people sitting down the dining car from us were sitting at a separate table from their children, and their children were not behaving well... why would they? Their parents were at another table from them?? :-). We are very happy to report that our children's children are also very well-behaved, or maybe they know Grandma and Grandpa won't be taking them anywhere if they aren't well-behaved.
That music in the background was absolutely horrible. Half of it sounded like what you would hear in the background of the price is right while they're talking about a showcase and half of it sounded like a horrible impression of Renaissance music.
Good documentary, but please slow down it's hard to keep up and take in the information
thank you for doing this my dad worked there for 35 years. he has dementia now and loved the video
Glad you and you father enjoyed!
When will part 2 be available? Thanks 😊
Within the next 2 months it's already written just need to record the V/O and edit everything together. Stay tuned!
Interesting (would have been better w/o the music). As pleasant as your train experience was, you can't really replicate the past. The passengers would have been dressed very differently: men in suits; women in dresses. And there, unfortunately, would have been a lot of smoking! Staff would have been different too -- no waitresses, for one. The menu? Was it the same that was served in the 1940s? Tastes have changed, so probably not. You are right that standards of behavior have dropped. There really are NO standards. People look and act like brutes. About Moynihan: I think the hall is actually beautiful, as close to the old station as is possible. It does lack a focal point, however. There is no central indicator displaying train arrivals/departures. You enter the Hall and have no idea if your train is on time or what track it will be on. And there is the limited public seating which is hidden away to one side (obviously to discourage the homeless).
I worked at Greystone from 1986 to 1989 I was in accounts payable in the administration building. It was heartbreaking for me to see it come down. R.I.P Greystone Park Psychiatric Hospital, you were once beautiful, now you only exist in photographs.
It truly was beautiful. I'm sure it was pretty impressive to see in person, especially in an operational condition. Thanks for watching!
The background music and the AI voice are irritating
Apologies, my microphone at the time really was rough. It was my actual voice though, not ai.
I worked here for 6 years. Its a crime that they destroyed it. Patients were very well and content there. They were also well cared for, at least when I was there. The "new" Greystone had and has many problems. Just horrible.
Yes I've unfortunately heard the issues the new facility has faced, really a sad situation all around. Thanks for watching
Would have liked to see MUCH MORE of the interior of the car. Did you mention cost??
Yeah I completely understand unfortunately I didn't want to film a lot of the inside simply because there were another 20 other people in the car who I didn't want to make uncomfortable with a camera. As for the cost, it was 349 per person for Hickory Creek at the time of recording however now I believe it's gone up to 399. Thanks for watching!
Letchworth Village was a horror story. My ex-wife worked as a nurse at Letchworth in the 1970s. I would occasionally take something to her at work. When I went to one of the cottages to meet her, the antiseptic/bodily excrement odors were distressing. You could hear the patients screaming and yelling in the buildings from the parking lot. The patients would attack staff members and had to be restrained for hours or days at a time. The pain and suffering at Letchworth experienced by the staff and the patients reminded me of something out of Dante's Inferno...
It absolutely was, especially the towards the later years as you're describing. I honestly couldn't imagine being on the property during that time, must’ve been very eye opening. Thanks for watching and stay tuned for part 2
But was she able to eat her lunch?
She possibly gave it to paitients that African American nurse seemed genuine and tried her best to be kind she must have hated that job but it was all she was able to get at that time. She was the only one willing to talk meaning she wanted that place get some help.@@D0ntTickleMe
it´s sad the full consist is now gone
Nice video. People these days are reluctant to discipline their children in public as there are so many busybodies out there, they are helpless.
I think the Moynihan station is not a recreation of the old Penn Station but it certainly is better by far than what we have had recently. NYC is far far nicer than it was in the 70's and 80's.
Absolutely agreed
@@TheCesspool_I will agree with you in most points. That back in the day stuff was more civilized. A lot of stuff was definitely a lot more Primitive and or worse than it is now. But if you look at it from a different perspective and what was the norm in the day it was generally a lot better Yeah there was asbestos in everything and also radiation and A good amount of inequality etc but still back in the day america was an honest country. A place of many opportunities full of hard-working honest men I bet you a 50 that If everything. Went as planned america would have been One of the best countries in the world with one of the best and most luxurious rail system The country of many opportunities it once was...

Its always great to see this series.
I'm glad I found this video. Super interesting and well put together! Keep up the good work :)
Thank you! Stay tuned for Volume 2 in January!
hey! Really nice video, im so glad I found it randomly through my recommendeds. I apprecuate your indepth research and live footage of how the buildings look today, which to me makes this a proper mini documentary. looking forward to more videos from you
Appreciate the positive feedback, thanks for watching
This is so sad. I’m afraid it isn’t much better today 😭
Unfortunately so, but we can hope for a better future
Surprised this series didn't die! Legitimately the only series of it's kind on the site. Closest are UrBex channels who tend to be far more sensationalist. Also always very telling about the nations attitude towards mental illness when these facilities ask for more funding, and are vilified because of it. Shit still happens to this day with state run treatment centers.
Yeah the series has certainly been in limbo for quite a while but the motivation finally returned and here it is! It is absolutely true that these places received absolutely no respect from the general public and the patients suffered as a result, especially in the later years. Appreciate the support and look forward to Volume 2 in January!
My friends and I snuck into greystone in 2007 through a hole in the fence that had been put up around it and broken basement window. We wanted to make a video for our film class in HS. It was surreal being in there (and also dangerous…we were oblivious 17yos). We were there for hours and now seeing this timeline I guess we were in the administration building? There were a lot of patient rooms and old equipment, but seeing old wheel chairs and the paint peeling off the walls was wild to see in person. We came back years later after college and had no idea it had been torn down. It was so sad to see.
I can imagine that was an unforgettable experience and yes assuming it was that central building with the tower it would be the administration building. Its incredibly sad to see the fall of Greystone and what it could've been if someone had saved it. Thanks so much for watching.
And the crazy part is that these buildings were already here. Just repurposed into their makings. Ever background story of these robber barons is always a lie.
Many people share this sentiment. Yet very few seem to actually have an answer on why things changed so much for the worse. If we want the good aspects of the recent past to return we have to ask the real questions and not be afraid to push the overton window. Great video!
Absolutely agreed, thank you so much for watching!
