  • Hello everyone, in today's video we are going to take a closer look at the Rollinia fruit. (Rollinia deliciosa)
Rollinia deliciosa is known as the Lemon meringue pie-tasting fruit. The fruit has a lemony taste to it.
The rollinia can be a tricky fruit to eat and due to its ability to ripen up fast and turn into a snotty fruit. In this video, I demonstrate how Rollinia can be a little too mucousy.
The best time to eat rollinia off the tree is to wait until it has some green as well as yellow - It will still maintain a dense fiber and be more enjoyable (In my opinion) to eat.
Rollinia is probably one of the more interesting-looking fruits of the Annonaceae family.
Rollinia is also called Rollinia mucosa because of the mucous fiber that it can get once you allow it to overripe for too long once you harvest the fruit.

I just discovered your channel, I've been getting really into exotic fruits recently and just bought my first cherimoya and mamey sapote fruits. They don't grow where I live so I was surprised to find them at my local market, especially since I never found them in south florida.

You seem obsessed with mucus and snot LOL! Not everyone dislikes the fully ripe texture. But yes, it can be a turnoff for some. It appears you have two different cultivars there. Did you find a difference in flavor, when they are both at the same stage of ripeness ? We have some cultivars in Hawai’i that look a little different than these two.

Obsessed is right! I wanted to demonstrate WHY the rollinia gets the ‘’Mucus” & “Snot” stereotype - Of course not every dislikes this characteristic as I mentioned in the video, but many people who have never tried this fruit have asked me why it gets that snot reference - well this video was so that they understood. There was only a slight difference in the taste between these two - not much , very delicious fruit.

Please I have tried to airlayer rollinia. Waited 45 days then checked it . Only formed large callous. I put soil.back on it and wrapped it. Made another airlayer and will check in 30 days. Should I wait longer? I'm in Florida. Very hot this year 95 F degrees. Trunk diameter is 2 inches. Makes new leaves all year flower one fruit set 2 months ago. Why no roots?

I think u were supposed to scrape of the cambium layer properly before putting the soil maybe that's why it just formed a callus and healed back up. Idk I could be wrong however
