      @@1972OGTony A snapshot is a mixersetting, a workspace is everything, snapshots included for example and many more things.

      @@1972OGTony Like we pointed out, Snapshots just contain the routing and mixer settings. Workspaces on the other hand contain the complete state of the TotalMix FX session (including 8 snapshots).

    Here's my understanding.
    Layouts - these are ONLY the presence or absence of inputs and outputs (as you decide to show or hide them), and the renaming of them in the session. Nothing else.
    Snapshots - these are just the router and mixer settings of the session. Nothing else. They do not include the renaming or hiding of inputs or outputs.
    Workspaces - these are backups of everything, including all layouts and snapshots in the total mix session
    Is this correct? If not, please correct me in detail. Thanks!

    If you guys wrote instructions for WORKSPACE you must have forgotten to include them in the printed User Guide. I've struggled to use Total Mix since day one and I believe the lack of explanations of WORKSPACEs verses SNAPSHOTs is the heart of my issue.
    I wouldn't say this video brings much clarification to the issue either. Explanations of words only and a bit of screen recording without actual functional examples is not a very thorough teaching method. Screen recording here isn't very clear, IMO. I'll just start experimenting and see where the cards lay.
    At least now I realize where my confusion is: missing info from the User Guide!

    Hello everyone, I have one question. I use Logic Pro and RME babyfacePRO. I hear the sound of the instrument "clean" and when I choose some presets the sound doesn't change at all with means the signal im hearing is the clean input. If I recorde something then press play the sound I hear is the sound with the desired effect. What I would like: to hear the desired effect while im playing/recording. In my old Mac that used to happen - plug and play - but then I purchased a new one and since then I have this issue. Can you please enlighten me? Thank you so much and congrats for your channel.

    I continually ask for this assistance. PLEASE do a begnner's video on recording real instruments like guitar. I've worked out how to record aurio via xlr, but I just can't get the rme to record electric guitars that I input directly.I've had my rme babyface all year and probably devoted 80-100 to this frustration. Every time I try I just surrender and use my old Yamaha cubase. Please help me.

    Hi ! I'm UFX+ user , I also have ARC.
    I would like to know what would be the best to integrate two subwoofers with our speakers in totalmix.
    I would like to have option 1 - just stereo monitors,
    And option 2 - stereo monitors (high passed with totalmix eq) + two subwoofers which will play in stereo as an extension of L and R channel, of course linked so I can control the volume of the whole system. I won't be going from main UFX+ outs to subs and then from subs to monitors, since the subs doesn't have balanced connections, would like to hook the subs on separate channels.
    Can that be done with snapshots and have the ARC setup for fast switching between the two options ?
    Thanks

    • @RMEAudio
      @RMEAudio  4 года назад

      Yes you can save the different setups as snapshots and load them via the ARC USB. The subwoofers can be connected via further analog outputs and controlled as a fader group. You can program the buttons of the ARC in TotalMix FX under "Options" - "ARC & Key Command Settings".

      @@RMEAudio One more question please, so I did everything with dual subwoofers, and everything works perfectly, it just seems that snapshots don't override groups ?
      For example I want Snapshot 1 to have a group of Main Out on Channels 1/2, and Output Channel 3/4 fader linked in a balance -3db to the Main in that way when I have Main Out set at -6, that Ch Out Fader 3/4 follows at -9 so on...
      But I want Snapshot 2 to have fader group again consisted of Main Out (Ch 1/2) and Fader Ch 3/4 but this time I want Ch 3/4 to follow with the -6db Offset.
      Is this possible, to setup that way that every time I call a snapshot faders that are grouped with Main Out adjust its relative levels to the Main Out accordingly ?
      Thanks

    • @RMEAudio
      @RMEAudio  4 года назад

      @@janmagdevski4973 In this case you have to save your settings as a workspace (quick select menu "W"), because snapshots don´t change fader groups settings.

    Does the Snapshot file save one snapshot or the 8 snapshot slots? Does the Workspace file save one Workspace or the whole Workspace menu? In which cases would a Snapshot file be more useful than a Workspace file?

    • @RMEAudio
      @RMEAudio  5 лет назад

      The snapshot loads one snapshot, for example one you do not use very often. The Workspace file saves also the Workspace menu.
      Snapshots include all mixer settings, but no graphical elements like window positions, window size, number of windows, visible EQs or Settings, scroll states, Presets etc. Only
      the state wide/narrow of the channels is registered. Moreover the Snapshot is only temporarily
      stored. Loading a Workspace causes the loss of all stored Snapshots, when these all had not
      been saved before in a Workspace, or separately via File / Save Snapshot as. Via File / Load
      Snapshot the mixer states can be loaded individually.

      @@RMEAudio Wow that was fast, thank you! I don't have my interface with me to try stuff so I'm still not fully getting it - sorry! I didn't get it when I read the manual for that section either ;) I will do some experimenting and maybe get back with questions. A suggestion: the manual is lacking a clear explanation of Workspaces, they don't even have their own section. Still don't know if saving a Workspace/Snapshot to a file saves all the stored Workspaces and the Snapshots menu or only whatever is active at that moment.

      @@stormymondays A Workspace contains all 8 Snapshots. If you have multiple Workspaces, each one should be saved to a file individually for backup purposes.

      @@RMEAudio Still trying to wrap my head around why I would save a workspace over a snapshot and vice versa. Let's say I have two projects in my studio, one overdub project, with one or two inputs at a time, and the second, a full band session with a lot of inputs and completed routings. Would it be best to save those two projects as independent workspaces or independent snapshots. Why would I use one over the other? Thanks so much.
