1. «I’m really bad at negotiating. I don’t wanna spend lots of time, I just want to make sure u get want u want, and if I’m OK with it". 2. No Guilt, positive attitude and expercience. No emotion rollercoaster. 3. Clarity for what u want and why 4. Give a clear ask and after shut up.
Noah is the best guest anyone can have. His thoughts, experience and wisdom about a lot of subjects particularly business and entrepreneurship are brilliant. Love this interview.
Getting a "deal" is a scarcity mindset. As soon as I realize someone is trying to do anything other than a win-win I walk. "It was 2 minutes 5 minutes ago!?"
And the funny part of this is trying to get a deal on an overpriced toy 🧸 that validates a high selling (with a so called discount) price only because the real value is lower than the perceived one by consumers.
I negotiated free coffee in exchange for the shop using my contractors license to remodel their space. I enjoy the free coffee but might have made more charging for my services.
Chris Voss has a similar approach: don’t low ball or “split the diff”, ask for what you want and stop speaking (with tactics for feeling them out before)
Had Noah on my podcast earlier this year, such an incredible human and was a dream guest of mine. You’re on the Mount Rushmore Tim. What would have to happen to get you on?
if a multi millionaire asked me for another $1000 discount, I might give it to them but their reputation will forever be tainted in my view. you appear cheap and small
@daniellecorenchuk1772 it makes them appear like a miser. It makes me think that they only value their reputation for that amount of money saving. It's like a lack of swlf respect. just an ick. I come across this a lot in corporate sales. I often give the discount but i never look at the person the same way or with any respect again.
@adamcraig1468 thanks for the response, just for discussion sake, because I know wealthy people who ask for discounts but also share generously when tipping etc. and I think most of it comes from our personal money stories. According to an article by Dave Ramsey even when millionaires don’t have to worry about money anymore, they’re still careful about their spending. Ninety-four percent of the people studied said they live on less than they make. These millionaires also said they spend $200 or less each month at restaurants. And 93% of millionaires use coupons all or some of the time when shopping. Warren Buffett still lives in the house he grew up in lol

“You’re probably like me, in that I value my time. I can’t get that time back. The next best thing I can think of is a 20% discount…”

Europeans chargeback hard... as an owner of several businesses in Europe I can assure you they do.
So did he have the sauna already at that point, or he just agreed to 20% off to continue kicking the bucket down the road?
