In a RUclips world of influencers and people regurgitating information for followers, this is literally one of the most honest and refreshing things that I've watched in a long time.
@@nerdock4747 Interesting. I just rewatched first part, to check what I could be jealous of. He says himself that he is self indulging. Also, he mentions that he had an anxiety attack after his birthday. Not sure how anyone could be jealous of that. I understand that half of this video is about him not being perfect and the other half is about his "productivity strategy". But first one is in my opinion not relatable: "look: I am successful superbeing that cries". You can call it jealous, but I rarely have reasons to cry about and I am definitely not on his level of success. Second part with his strategy is fine. In all honesty I just don't like the guy and for some reason I got recommendation from YT and had a bad moment, so I commented. Really check something else. Like "Daily Stoic". Better strategies and no "Tim Ferriss loundry list".
Your journey is a testament to the power of vulnerability and self acceptance. It’s inspiring to see how you’ve turned challenges into opportunities for growth.
I've heard about the 'One Thing' approach many times, but the way you broke it down in this video was so helpful, Tim. But more importantly, showing your vulnerabilities or 'weaknesses'. Hearing that you struggle with procrastination as much as I (and probably many of us) do, yet are able to get things done by focusing on one important, uncomfortable task for 2-3 hours instead of trying to keep yourself 'busy', inspires me to actually try this method out. Today is day 1.
I appreciate you, Tim. Thank you for being open about your struggles and what works for you to get things done. I found this video very helpful and passed it along to others. Thank you and yes, we are all in this together, aren’t we. 🙂
I rarely like a video on YT. It’s even more rare for me to write a reaction to one. I cannot put into words how important this video and this kind of content is (especially in today’s world). Honest, vulnerable, kind, no hidden agenda. Writing this even makes me emotional about it. Tim, thank you for inspiring us and for doing so so many years, knowing that your pitfalls and dark days might be deeper than those of most of us❤️
I appreciate your brutal candid honesty Tim! I too experience prolonged periods of despair with intermittent spurts of high 'productivity'. Our minds tend to hyper-fixate on the many "negative" aspects of our lives while downplaying all the progress we've achieved. We are pressured to constantly hustle and be productive, lest we come across as a lazy idler who "wastes time". But as you say: "Being busy is a form of laziness", sometimes we aimlessly distract ourselves with frivolous "work" for the sake of appearing "productive". But if we are strategic, efficient, and focused about meaningful goals, we don't need to overwork ourselves to death and can spend lots of time purposefully and happily idling.
You have no idea how much your honesty and sharing details of your vulnerabilities have made a difference to me today - thank you. 🙏🏽 I’ve been feeling like I’m literally on the edge. Just when I think I’ve hit rock bottom of shitty times and shitty people something new happens to remind me how everything is so precarious. Just can’t drown in it. Need to access my own superpower. Tide has to turn right? Your progress hacks are literally keeping me afloat.
Tim is a hero to so many of us; his protests notwithstanding. We are so used to seeing the curated, perfect superheroes he spoke of, that we lose sight of the fragility of even those elites. Tim's openness and vulnerability, aptly displayed here, only deepened my appreciation and opinion of his generous heart and amazing skills. Shine on you crazy diamond
I feel we are changing constantly and always using mental, emotional, physical and spiritual energy. Even watching a movie can have an effect. I realized that daily energy is never always the same. If I had a real busy, stressful 2 weeks cause life happens sometimes, I slow down, rest and recover this week. Also solving, removing or minimising as many unnecessary stresses is a big one. These drain your energy and affect your spirit. This all took me years to figure out.
It’s so refreshing to hear someone openly share their vulnerabilities and insecurities while also reflecting on their successes. That mix of chaos and progress really resonates-how we can feel completely dysfunctional but still manage to move the needle in meaningful ways. It’s a reminder that nobody has it all figured out, no matter how polished they might appear on the outside. The idea that superheroes are just as flawed and neurotic as the rest of us really sticks. It’s easy to think successful people are on some untouchable level, but hearing about someone’s messy mornings, procrastination, or emotional struggles reminds us that the gap isn’t as wide as we think. Success doesn’t require perfection-it just requires showing up for the hard things, one step at a time. I loved the emphasis on single-tasking and focusing on what truly matters. The distinction between efficiency and efficacy is such a game-changer. We often chase productivity hacks, but this approach-tackling the uncomfortable, high-leverage tasks-is both simple and profound. It’s a great reminder that being “busy” can be a distraction from what’s really important, and sometimes less is more when it comes to meaningful progress. And that Vonnegut quote about writing is the perfect closing note. It’s such a humbling thought-that even someone as brilliant as him felt clumsy in his craft. It’s a good reminder to keep going, even when it feels like a struggle, because the magic often happens in spite of how we feel.
Thank you for being honest! It’s really not realistic what the world tries to portray. People are not robots and our energy and motivation fluctuates! ❤
I needed this right now. I feel very much in a rut. This morning I decided to open up Facebook, which I haven’t really done in months other than to check news within my neighborhood’s FB group. I was quickly reminded why I never get on Facebook anymore because of the number of ads and junk. The only thing that caught my eye was a random post with a photo of Jim Carrey and a quote from him discussing how he had been reading Eckhart Tolle, and had really taken to heart this idea that we are not our thoughts, and our thought is often in the source of our suffering. And then I saw this video a few minutes later. I needed both of these things.
I agree. Through my journey of creating kettlebell training content, I find that there is a massive difference between being busy and being creative. One produces fatigue while the other produces excitement. God bless 🙏🏼

I love your vulnerability and tips, Tim. Thank you for your generosity. Needed this today. Took copious notes. Appreciate these reminders. Thank you, you beautiful human!!
Thank you Tim! This series of videos has really been helping me. I’m sitting here on my 30 minute lunch break at work exhausted about everything in life and I really needed this.
One unexpected consequence of social media (to me) is the success of authenticity. Thanks Tim. Huge Vonnegut fan when I was young btw read all his books before age 15. . I am 63 years old and broke - despite unprecedented success before in 3 areas working as a teacher day job - standup comedy (opened for Al Lubel), music (my first song Like to Party was in over 150 tv and film placements) and an online book (Classroom Discipline 101) which is the Tesla of education books and sold over 20,000 copies (until Google changed their algorithm making it unprofitable) I now have to start over in 2025 as I blew my teachers’ retirement. I saved 20k and moved to Thailand and despite being ‘busy’ all year with my new endeavor - Latin House Music - got nowhere because I am an unofficial manic-depressive and though in theory want to be at it 12 hours a day only get in 2-3 really productive hours. So got to try your way now.
This podcast episode was one of my favourites ever. Love that you’re experimenting with new formats and keeping it fresh. Thankyou for sharing your vulnerability with us. It helps more than you will ever know, to hear that people we look up to are just the same as us. Keep up the amazing work Tim
Thanks for being vulnerable! I bet this is MANY people on earth, trying to be disciplined on their own timeline. If I could focus 2-3 hours on something I have to do, that has no intrinsic motivation, I’d be rich 😂 - I have the ideas. What I’m missing is the focus
Good for you! And THANK YOU. Been feeling that vulnerable weird feeling lately. Like no one gets me and the loneliness that one feels through that. So appreciate you sharing and making me feel less weird and more part of humanity on a "rawish day" like today! Cheers!
This sounds like a honest & doable strategy 🙌🏻 I usually get to many ideas and feel overwhelmed by them also by that prestige success of others. Many thanks for sharing that productive construction!!!
that's good to know even people we associate with success also have very similar flaws as everyone. But resting, sleeping, lounging and doing nothing is not 'bad', it's just as important as your todo list.
Good day Tim. Thank you. Such a great story about staying focused on that one thing. I was researching some stories for an upcoming podcast I am developing. It ties right into a story I am researching about Andrew Carnegie hiring a consultant Frederick Taylor way back in 1890. You know it, his advice to Mr Carnegie was to make a list and prioritize and work on that one important thing until it is done. Yes it did work. For that advice Andrew Carnegie paid him $10,000USD today worth over $250K. It is no secret but like you said we get taken off track so easily and just get busy without accomplishing much.

This really brought me back to the start of my personal development journey with your books, Tim. Love to see you narrate it joyfully in this new beautiful video format! Timeless and important reminder and I especially needed to hear it in this particular season of life so thank you for this treat!
Tim Ferris, you know that Neil Gaiman quote you just referenced….well you just showed us all how to do it. Thank you. This episode was so helpful and I really appreciate you.
Love the new format of your videos. Please keep doing what you’re doing. Been a long time fan since 10+ years ago. You’ve taught me so many good lessons.
Wow thank you so much for sharing this!! It’s nice to know that individuals like you also have overwhelming days and/or days you just give up and do nothing. Makes me feel better. Next time I’m beating myself up over it I’ll say “Tim Ferriss does this too!! :)
Well done! This so-called admission of imperfection is in fact yet one more ascension on your path. It’s clear that you are consolidating wisdom and cultivating integrity at greater and greater levels. Well done. 💪🏾
I suggest: drink 'mate' in the morning and early afternoon. This is a natural energizer, a great companion and a little bit of a taste from my country, Argentina. Salud!
Thanks man. This hit me hard and I really appreciate the honesty. I’m getting better and better at mono-tasking. I spent a full hour on my book today and I am really making progress. Sending positive vibes. Keep it up.
Single tasking Beginning of the day or when focus and energy is What you do is more important than how you do it Being busy can be avoidance few critical and uncomfortable you need to get done. Take it easy. Don't over estimate the world and underestimate yourself. Everyone is fighting a battle, no one is immune
