Besides, the Jedi wasn’t being hostile at first, and he didn’t deny the crimes his order and the Republic committed, rather he spoke of cleansing the anger and Dark Side from the Nekghoul and offered to do the same with us. Idk, it’s just a little bit of irony that people don’t seem to see it.

      Fun fact; I actually researched the details on the aftermath of the Great Hyperspace War. What happened is severely overstated by the Empire. Direct quotes from Wookieepedia:
      "As the Republic began to rebuild and recover from the Sith occupation of its core worlds, Supreme Chancellor Pultimo authorized a joint Jedi-Republic counterinvasion of the Sith Worlds aimed at assuring the complete destruction of the Empire and any vestigial threat it posed to the safety of the Republic. The Chancellor and his political allies framed this invasion as a battle against the institutions of the Empire rather than a war for the extermination of its citizenry, stating that such actions were necessary to free the Sith species from the dark-sided corruption under which it had suffered for centuries.
      Across the Sith Worlds, battleships and bombers laid waste to Sith military complexes and centers of power while Republic strike teams on the ground captured Sith survivors and refugees en masse. Though some groups of Sith survivors continued to resist the Republic occupation militarily, the Jedi avoided killing captured or surrendered Sith outright-instead, adopting the practice implemented by Jedi Knight Odan-Urr, the Jedi chose to sever their respective connections to the Force."
      "Having achieved immortality and overseen the destruction of any remaining potential rivals in the Sith establishment, Vitiate departed his husk of a fiefdom with his loyal supporters in tow. He publicly attributed the destruction of Nathema to the Jedi, using its desolation as further proof of his claim that the Republic counterinvasion was aimed at the systematic extermination of the Sith people."
      The Republic's campaign was targeted at destroying Dark Side centres of power, and was more an occupation than a targeted campaign of genocide. The big incidents of mass death resulted from a mass ritual suicide campaign orchestrated by the Sith Lord Shar Dakhan, and the destruction of Nathema, which was blamed on the Jedi and Republic.
      So while it's 100% a cultural genocide, and an attempt to scrub the Sith Order (Different from the Sith species) from existence, full extermination was never actually the intent of this campaign. The people who believe it in-universe fell for a millennia long con by Vitiate.

And yet even their home planet is devoid of 'purebloods', the one place that should have the highest concentration of them. Also Revan was making a genocidal army targeting Sith genes and wasn't concerned at all about people in the republic.

      Sorry to burst your bubble, but the Sith Genocide can be seen in the Expanded Universe as it happens.
      Orbital bombardment and troops actively slaughtering indiscriminately was the norm. I think the Republic leader of the genocide was named Empress Teta, which her sector or whatever was later named after.
      Under her leadership the Republic killed the Sith, their non-Sith subjects, and their slaves. They also bombarded all of the Sith worlds to rubble though not an actual glassing.
      The only Sith who survived were the sorcerers of Tund and the minuscule handful that Vitiate took with him.

Jedi helped kick the Sith out of the Republic, we find in multiple points in SWTOR that the Republic violates the Coruscant Treaty, we see in multiple points in the movies where Jedi have employed violence beyond what's necessary and aligned with the Jedi Creed, etc. In all my years around Star Wars, it seems the Empire and the Sith may lie to even each other, but they admit that it's often necessary for the goals of the Empire or the individual. And we see with the Sith creed and Imperial Agent creed, you don't have to be honest. Yet with the Jedi and Republic priding themselves on being the most noble and upstanding people, they sure do a lot of things that go against their own creeds, promises, oaths, etc., and will lie, alter records, and kill to keep those blemishes a secret between those involved.

      @@CRMSN_RDR Yes, but pragamaticism is not the way of the dark side. It is being totally selfish all the time and constantly obeying your own whims. Darth Sidious practiced restraint and was powerful, but he didn't hold a candle to the likes of Tulak Hord because he just wasn't evil enough, as unbelievable as that is. Sidious wanted to rule the galaxy while ancient sith lords would have either killed everyone to attain godhood like Darth Vitiate tried, or enslaved everyone like Marka Ragnos did. Being pragmatic takes resisting dark side rather indulging in it.

  • @Orionis_Delta

    Sometimes I feel that being a Jedi/Sith Exile is a much better choice than going with either of these.
    In the Jedi Order, you technically kidnap force-sensitive children from their homeworlds to become warrior monks fully dedicated to the teachings; with the Order getting progressively more corrupt and arrogant, seeing only the Light as the good thing. If you introduced the Light AND the Dark in your teachings, then "bringing balance to the Force by wiping out everyone who practices the Dark" is not ... balance??? Also justifying the genocide of the Sith by saying it brought balance is a rather cocky move.
    And then in the Sith, you get more power at the cost of your health. Like ok fun you have the Force equivalent of 10 tasers in your fingertips. But you have to be in constant pain, anger, hatred, fear, whatever negative emotion you need to fuel these powers or else they won't happen. Then you kill your fellow Sith because you are so mad and thirsty for MORE power that you can't function as a unit at any prolonged time.
    IDK if the Je'daii Order is still canon or not, but I feel like the times of that order was much better than whatever the fuck the Jedi Order was for like 5000+ years of existence after they decided to move their HQ to Coruscant. At least they acknowledged that too much of either side is bad, and if you were too much into the Light or too much into the Dark, then you had to meditate in the opposite side to balance yourself out. No wonder the Order fell and had so many Exiles throughout its history.

      @hydra5758 3 года назад +29

      I'm pretty sure that George Lucas made it clear, several times, that 'Balance' wasn't using Dark and Light side techniques together. It's just that both sides are flawed when they abandon the majority of their emotions for either apathy or hatred. In the game, you learn from a Sith that the Dark Side used to be about using one's "passions" instead of pain and anger. Both traditions kind of fell by the wayside when they became self anaesthetizing, like you said.
      Another thing, the Jedi get their children voluntarily from the parents, and it's seen as a badge of honor for families in some cultures, to have a child in the Order. Calling it kidnapping feels irresponsible.
      Also I took the response the Jedi made to the genocide comment as a 'We seek to cure the sickness, not kill the patient' type thing, IDK why everyone is blowing up about it.

    • @midgetydeath
      @midgetydeath 3 года назад +14

      The Sith degradation of health is, I think, related to how much you feed your negative emotions.

As if the Sith aren't literally evil and are being consistent about being evil. Remember, this is an example of just one Sith being semi-decent; the vast, overwhelming majority of Sith would have no qualms with eradicating a species, killing all their friends, and plunging the galaxy into mayhem and suffering just to get what they want. For all their problems, at least the Jedi are *trying* to make the galaxy a better place--the Sith are doing the exact opposite.
    Like, it's cool if you like them for being bad guys, but don't go acting like they're morally superior to the Jedi. They're just more consistent, since "Be Evil" is a lot easier to get right than "Be Good."

      Thing with the dark side is that it's very hard to control, Sith claim to not serve the force, but be in control. Most Sith still end up being used by the dark side instead of the other way around. But there are definitely many Sith that genuinely used the dark side without really falling to it in the sense most Sith do. They stayed true to their original goals they set out before becoming Sith or have a very high sense of self control. Palpatine was always a Shithead, if you read plagueis you'll know that he never was a good upstanding citizen. But he was in control, dooku for the most part was in control, Vitiate was in control, revan ended up being in control, Malgus was pretty much under control, Marr and Jadus were also under control, someone like savage oppress wasn't. Dark side Jaina form swtor isn't, anakin on Mustafar wasn't. The list goes on.

    I mean the Sith isn't lying about his race becoming extinct. It was arguably the Jedi Order's worst atrocity in their history so it's difficult to blame the Sith Species from turning to the Dark side.

    • @marcialhd
      @marcialhd 3 года назад +7

      well the Sith were already a darkside aligned species well before the jedi and the republic tried to exterminate them, still that doesn't changes the fact that said genocide really removes any notion of the jedi and the republic being good guys.

      I wonder what the Force thought about every man, woman, and child who the Jedi killed for their species or for living on Korriban at the wrong time.
      It’s doubtful that they were all obsessed cultists of any kind.

    I wonder what the shades of Sith Lords of old, from the actual Sith species, make of later millennia. Pride that their religion endures and at least occasionally produces such power, or dismay that the Sith race is extinct and the most powerful practitioners turn out to be humans basically being historical re-enactors of Sith teachings.

    Whilst the outcome of the Sith's extermination can be thrown infront of the feet of the Jedi and the Republic, it is Naga Sadow you should truly curse. for being the reckless, short-sighted expansionistic bastard that he was. he divided the Sith Empire, propaganda was his rise to power, with experiments and sorcery he turned his servant Massassi tribe into mindless cave-dwellers. and retreated again and again from his battles with the Republic only to build temples to his own glory on the long forgotten moon of Yavin Four. waiting for a revenge that would never come.
