Wow I’m not sure id have us in the top 25. My new expectations are 7-8 wins, possibly 9 if we really turn up. Of course we could be like last year and turn around and lose to ga state next week. But as for being a top 25 team I think if we can have a respectable record like that with the 4th toughest schedule in the country we should be in there.

Ole Miss fan here and my only change to your chart would be to swap Oklahoma with Kansas State. Oklahoma to me is better than expected. Just my call. I told my wife I expected Tech to beat Fla State but I was personally high on Brent Key after listening to him talk after Ole Miss last year. Much better coach than people think. Good video

I'm not a ND fan but the really are loaded and fairly deep. They are alot like Michigan last year... not super elite but just solid and can sneak up and win some big games. The problem is which ND team shows up... the one that outplayed ohio state and gave the game away... or the one that got ran over by Louisville. If Riley Leonard Is legit then ND can without a doubt be a 5 to 10 team.
ND is overrated almost every year, until they join the Big 10 they should be banned from getting into the playoffs....

I had to look this up. Oregon State placed 4th in the Pac 12 in 2023 with a 8-5 overall record and a 5-4 conference record. I guess that's not too bad considering what conference DJ played in. But the competition level is very similar to the ACC so I can see why they went after DJ but FSU will probably get the same results starting him. Fools gold.

The young QB for FSU that Norvel groomed and signed his first year at FSU was Tate Rodenmaker. He left when FSU went looking for a QB in the transfer portal. I think I can still here him laughing after Saturday.

I’m a Miami fan and playing Florida in the swamp on our first game of the season I see it as a 50/50 and yes Miami has more talent and the OL and DL looks way better than in the past few seasons and the team as a whole has looked good in practice and scrimmages but is not the same as playing your first game in a hostile environment like the swamp,that’s why I see it as a 50/50 game,is just my opinion and trying to be realistic but still GO CANES

I don’t think it’s unreasonable for A&M to be favored against ND this weekend. I could see ND being favored as well, but A&M has a lot going for it. You mentioned “complete turn over of the roster” but we are 7th in Talent Compsite (ND is 10th) and we are 18th in returning production (ND is 74th). Plus Kyle Field at night with 110k ravenous fans who are starved for an actually good football team, and a coach we believe can turn us into one. Our loaded DL vs NDs young inexperienced OL. We could definitely still lose, their defense will be great I’m sure, and Riley Leonard is a baller. But don’t be surprised if it’s a very competitive game deep in the 4th quarter.

Yeah I got ND losing too Freeman has done nothing to prove otherwise as a coach plus iffy QB choice they got in my opinion.
They always have a lot going for them and they lose 95% of the time. Last year people said they should be favored over Miami. The year before they said they should have been favored over App.If ND is good they should win. IF they are a fraud (like Miami 2 yrs ago) they'll lose.
How do people consistently rank a team that has FOUR PROJECTED NFL FIRST ROUND DRAFT PICKS on their roster at 8th? I truly do not understand the mentality with that one. If any other team that wasn't named Michigan was in Michigan's shoes right here, right now, they're ranked top 5, no questions asked.

@@crazyunclelou Cook him uncle Lou. UM was underrated last year but this year they have so many question marks. 8th seems fair. I have them 6th in my rankings but anything frm 5th to 11th seems reasonable to me.
@glennwilliams2950 yeah I think they are the 3rd best team on the big 10, I think the 3rd best team in the big 10 will make the playoffs on the 8 to 12 range, so I have them at the highest position of that slot.
Love your show but people outside Louisiana don’t know what LSU has. 18 players that played in the SEC championship game 2 years ago. They missed in the portal because they refuse to get into a bidding war. LSU has recruited well enough to have a much improved defense to go with an outstanding offense. LSU will make the playoffs.
As a Clemson fan, DJ is what he is. He won't lose or win you any games. Should we be looking at this differently? Maybe tech is decent? They looked good. Nothing amazing but maybe something good? And giving my dues as a Clemson fan we are getting ran this weekend. We don't have a qb. But something about the week zero game, maybe tech is a little bit better than most thought.

Im doing my rankings this year quite differently. so basically it involves a point system. Every team starts the season 0 points. this means every team is in last place. at least for now you only get points for winning your games. Now the question remains: how many points are you awarded with each win? if your opponents have 1 loss, you are awarded 12 points. If they have 2 losses, you are awarded 11 points. 3 losses you are awarded 10 points. by now you should understand the pattern. This being said, old games can effect your current points. so say you beat a team at the start of the season. That team then runs the rest of the table. Then you get the maximum points for that victory at 12. if that team loses literally every single game, then you only are awarded 1 point for that win. At the start of the season it appears that that win was valued high at 12 points. But by the end of the season you see that that win was actually not very strong. I call this ranking system, The "Strength of Schedule" Rankings. This basically rewards teams who have tough victories. I honestly think this could be the most accurate way to non-biasly rank teams without whipping out a ton of production stats that take forever to fill out if you try to rank 133+ teams based on statistics (i tried doing this last year and it took me a week to only fill out and rank like half the teams cuz of how many different sources you have to sort through to find the stats for a team you need. then you have to manually input that stat in a spreadsheet and it was just long and tedious. I wanted to figure out how to data scrape off of websites to help automate the process a bit, but it simply is outside my area of expertise to get that working properly. So i have scrapped that old system and will only focus on rewarding teams points based on how many wins that got, then adjust how many points those wins are worth as the season progresses to properly rank teams non-biasly. That being said, i will try to establish solid tie breakers as early as i can in the season so later in the season when tie breakers start happening, i can put the stronger team over the other in the right and fair way. I want to see how the Strength of Schedule Rankings works without the tie breakers for a few weeks to see how likely it is that tie breakers happen later on in the season.
You made a brilliant insight about FSU mysteriously having an empty cupboard at QB even though Norvell is a supposed QB EXPERT.
Something doesnt add up and isnt quite right in Tallahassee.
A few bulletpoints:
DJ is EXACTLY who he always has been and should take NO HEAT for that loss
FSU has no speed or poor skill at WR, no one coming open is possibly why the lack of shots downfield.
Norvell called the game like HE KNEW this team was on thin ice. Who goes for 2 to start a game and doesn't trust a hyped defense to get you the ball back as opposed to kickin a 59 yd FG?
The media surrounding the program covered FSU football like MSM covering for Dem libtards, lying about the state of affairs.
This program is in a free fall following the offseason shitshow and they dont know how to move on.

Oh Lou, I think you are jinxing my Irish. Maybe not intentionally, but certainly giving them more credit than you normally would. I don't have them in the top 10 - especially since 1) Riley Leonard has had to learn a new system, and 2) we are starting a true freshman at left tackle. Two unknowns heading into this weekend's showdown at college station. If - and only if - by some miracle they come through with a win where Knapp keeps Leonard relatively clean by allowing less than two sacks and Leonard doesn't have to scramble too much in order to save his life - and our receivers step up - then I will start talking about how high I would rank them.

Meh I think it's reasonable to have them at 9/10. They're both fairly even. I'm a Utah fan, but I just can't see the Utes coming out of Stillwater with a win this year. I think the Cowboys give Utah their first loss of the season in Week 4.

Best RB in football. All 5 Olinemen are 6th year seniors. Veteran team with a good cosch. Manageable schedule with no Texas or OU. Defense needs to improve but could win big 12.

12:10 Brent Key also doesn't have to play LSU, Alabama, Auburn, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Missouri, Texas and Oklahoma though unlike Lane Kiffin. There is a big difference in strength of schedule. Just look at how many S.E.C programs that are ranked. Ole Miss finished the season last year with eleven wins and two losses. Georgia Tech finished the season last year with seven wins and six losses. There is a reason why the ACC is falling apart. Lets see what Brent Key's record will be when Georgia Tech leaves the ACC

The ACC held a record of 6-4 against the SEC in interconference play during the 2023 regular season. GT 's schedule this year is brutal compared to most SEC schedules
GT is up to something right now that hasn't happened there in decades and that is related to admin and GTAA support, not to mention a fabulous coach who will probably retire there
If the ACC doesnt get it together in the next few years, I fully expect the SEC to come poach a red hot Tech program back to their conference, of which Tech belonged for 33 yrs up until 1964.
