Zakhar Bron is one of the most brilliant violin pedagogues today. Maxim Vengerov was his student and mostly everybody who is getting ready for a career is, was, or would at some point play for him and seek his advice. It's not him people, it is you who are in the dark! Look for youtube videos of Vengerov, Vadim Repin or the American Sarah Chang when they were young. Sarah Chang recorded her first CD when she was 9. It's a tough world out there and the kid is better off understanding what to do.

There is a completely different way to motivate young musicians in Russia and the Eastern European countries. It is about broadening their horizons, not sweet talking and false praising. This is why so many foreigners take jobs ahead of US trained people. This is the law of the jungle and Bron is making sure he gives the young lad the tools he needs to succeed. Open your eyes people!

No of course. In general, he said that the boy is in the beginning of his way, but his results are pretty good to his age.
Review this video several times - you'll understand what Zakhar Bron mentioned without translation.

    allow me to agree ~
This teacher has found the PERFECT way to turn this young lad off of music, period.
How sad to interrupt this so ambitious boy. It almost makes me sick! To expect a nine-year-old to play with the maturity of an adult is ABSURD!

    Is that what he said?

Sorry ~ but in my opinion this is not "motivation" ~ much rather "drill".
To me music is not a matter of opening ones eyes. It is a matter of opening ones heart. It is clear to see, that this teacher is not "reaching" that boy ~ he is "intimidating" him.

Dieser Schüler hält seinen Ellenbogen generell viel zu tief! Dies wird von diesem Professor als fundamenter Fehler offenbar überhaupt nicht zur Kenntnis genommen.Schlechte Analyse...Leider!

This is deplorable -this isn't teaching - this is the lowest form of self
promotion using the poor kid as a stalking horse to impress the crowd.

I do not totally agree. You are just guessing. However, it is not teaching.
