You haven't seen nothing yet. In a few years you will see $100,000 bike made for riding on Gravel, road, mountains, sand and the moon if you can make it there. 😅😅
If you don't get Shimano 105 and hydraulic disk brakes for 2000 pounds, you have been ripped of big time. A Merida Scultura (endurance) 400 or Bergamont Grandurance 8 or RD7 would be a way better suggestion. And their are a lot more. It is even hard to find a bike that offers less bang for your money than the suggested Allez...
I recently bought a Merida Scultura 400 rim. Al. frame - carbon forks, carbon seat post, 105 g/set with Conti Gatorskins tyres. Rim brakes of course. How much here in Melbourne (Aust) ? $1600 Guess that is 800 quid, or there abouts. You Brits are paying far too much for bicycles. Wont mention anything about our weather here in Melbourne. Wont mention our smooooth roads & cycling lanes. I lived in England for 2 yrs way back in the 70's Scarborough Nth Yorkshire. Nice in Summer ! Brutal, bloody brutal in winter. Snow, black ice etc etc. God 'elp you mob.
@@kevinbourke4038Had my Scultura 400 rim for a couple of years now. Paid £1049 for it. Love it to bits. Put Conti GP 5000’s on it and a Carbon handlebar. Noticeably quicker than standard. For bad weather do as I did. Get a gravel bike and toughen up. Only Joking. 😄
Just want to address the elephant in the room you don't need £1000 to buy a good bike. I brought my bike second hand for £130, replaced the wheels for £250 and it's fantastic! Super light with an aluminium frame, carbon fork (old but still good). Be sure to check out the second hand market and try bikes on the cheaper end before buying a £3000 bike.
Big UP for the Decathlon RC520 (would say also it has plenty of muggard-bike packing mount places, truly an all year-all around fast adventure roadbike), my first ever road bike. I upgraded to 11-34 Shimano casette to have 1-1 ratio, currently running on 32mm gravel tyres and I switched to a shorter, 165mm true RC7000 105 crankset up front to better match up my short legs. Love it. I am learning everything on it, I have reseted front brake pistons, true-d wheels, and I also had fun to upgrade the listed parts by myself. Can't wait to "award" myself a next-level bike in 2-3 years :)
Would you say you can feel the weight of the Bike? I think its Like around 10kg which is quote heavy for such a Bike. I was thinking aboubt buying that model, would Love some reccomendation.
Specialized, Cannondale and Trek offers very little value. I do agree with your other choices. Rose is another good value brand though not quite as good as it used to be.
Double the value you get and buy a 12-24 month old 2nd hand bike. Take your time looking and you can still find someone who got into cycling during covid but has lost interest and has a bike with not much kms.
Nonono. Best bike ever it is my canyon ultimate sl when I get 1.5 year ago. With rim brake and Shimano 105 groupset, and my second hand carbon wheelset it bike have weight 7.2kg and price 1700e. for bike and 350e for wheels. Unfortunately we will never see prices like this again...😢😢😢
Before the vid: - Alright, I am in the market for a nice new bike, bring it on! After the vid: - Ah, I am more like in the market for a pair of nice tires. That would be absolutely sufficient.
I love how on bike channels middle class people telling us that £1000 is the budget bike. When you look at the figures the average cost of a bike in the UK is under £500 so half or less that your starting figure. Most people don't ride a cervelo or pinarello £5000 bike. Most people are buying bicycles from Halfords, Argos etc.
I am in the market for a new bike and the one that has caught my eye is the Cannondale Caad series. I have not pull the trigger yet since the current version has a pressfit BB, hopefully they will update the frame and change to threaded BB and then I'll buy me one. However,y dream bike is the enve melee but can't justify the price. Well, dream oh dream...
back in 2021, triban rc520 got fully sold out. i was lucky to get tcr aluminium 2021 with 105r7000 for usd1250(conversion from my currency). Today you cant get that spec for that money 😮
in april I got a new alloy frame, carbon fork, hydraulic disc brakes, shimano 105 road bike for 1650 eur. direct sale from germany (the brand name is Rose). Canyon has similar bikes for similar price. only if you go for a big brand, you get the "no can do" attitude towards quality components in cheaper bikes, the brand itselft costs too much
Imagine spending €8k on a bike and still not getting the best specs available. The bike world's gone crazy. Second hand bike for me the next time. Lots of almost new great bikes floating around.
This article sums up why cycling has become a middle class sport £5K, £8k, £12k categories and you only get 105 on the 8k bike! There should be a £250 and £500 categories but cycling weekly would probably look down their noses
You can a new road bike for under £1000 (about 1270 USD as of 12 Aug 23), but why would you? There are a lot of much better used bikes out there for around the same money.
I had really great shimano hydraulic brakes that came stock on a low/mid level trek 6700 mtb 20 years ago. It’s shocking hydro isn’t standard at this point. And getting cable actuated stuff on bikes that cost this much is a complete joke. Cable actuated disc breaks make no sense to me actually.
I would nip into Cycle Exchange Kingston upon Thames see what you get for £1000 or £2000 second hand I assure you it will blind what your advertising here.
Hahahaha this is a hilarious watch. As far as I’m concerned get rim brakes under £1000 and stick with a fairly well known brand (the frame quality makes a difference, and mechanical discs are atrocious and heavy), under 2k get a giant tcr, trek Emonda alr or canyon endurace (or spend less and get a bike fit) and if you’re spending more than 2k on a bike you shouldn’t need to watch this video
Is there a cycling RUclips channel that offers sensible suggestions for the average person, not products with nice-to-have features providing marginal benefits at crazy prices?
I actually don’t particularly like being the same as most people so I went for a hand built Italian semi bespoke aluminium frame from Mason cycles, ultegra di2 then mid depth carbon wheels from my local wheel builder
I was expecting to see one in the $500 range. 😂
Facebook marketplace does the job

They have to go with the mega brands.
Also. Triban is a very very endurance only bike. Its terrible to race in. Scultura 200 or contend 2 would be better choices
