    What do you think of the Wolfman Clan and this mysterious 'Hell of Beasts' - is it a real place, or just a metaphor? Let me know your thoughts on this unexpected piece of Bleach lore!

    • @manuelacosta9463

      Probably just a metaphor given the beastliness they are know to revert to.

      Is a reference to buddhism, especially the 6 path thing buddhism (yeah the same thing as in naruto)
      The idea is that the animal real is a not good reincarnation realm where ppl suffer cause animal life sucks (not as much as the lower two realms tho) and the idea is that komamura falls completely in that realm for his sins

      The Beast Realm was definitely meant to be a distinct realm; a reference to the Buddhist mythology that Kubo is clearly inspired by. The realm of Gods (Soul Palace), demigods (Soul Society), hungry ghosts (Hueco Mundo), humans (Human World), Hell and animals (Beast Realm).

Had he not solely wanted revenge (he had no revenge based ideas vs bambi which is why it didn't affect him then) maybe he could of stayed in thay form.

    I really like Komamura, he's one of the best written characters in the series and unfarily overlooked by the fans. He gets a great character arc especially in the last arc. I can't wait to see him in the anime, hopefully they do it justice and even add more action and content about The Beast Realm.

  • @corruptangel6793
    @corruptangel6793 3 года назад +67

    Maybe Komamura's lust for revenge had to cross a certain threshold for him to turn into that dog form. Like, if he stayed somewhat level-headed and overcame his desire for revenge he'd be fine and maybe could have stayed human forever. But as soon as he completely gave in to revenge that "timer" ran out.

  • @TheDonovanMcCormick
    @TheDonovanMcCormick 3 года назад +40

    He turns into a Fox because he chose revenge for Yama, that’s why it happens after his fight with Bambi. He wanted to kill Yhwach for revenge and that emotion turned him back into a beast, reinstating the curse. Komamura nutshell: I got tricked by those I trusted. His true form was the beast with a human heart; that was his most human form, the giant Fox. Tommo always makes Komamura more interesting than Kubo did. I did like the human form arc for him though, he was bad ass in the end. The old dog totally tricked him into giving up what made him human so he would lose his soul, not just his heart. Hope he eventually can come back from being a Fox. First time I saw his human form I thought he looked like he fused with Ginjo lol

  • @lordkardok666

    I feel like it was a trick by Komamura's elder. I mean, in a way, he did warn Komamura, but he never eluded to what triggers the transformation back into a beast. I think, as long as Komamura was level headed, he would retain his powered up human form, but the moment he desired revenge, he would simply become a beast.

    Anyone else think that the Hell of Beasts might also explain Yoruichi's clan / abilities? Yoruichi having different cat forms always just seemed kinda random to me, as it was never really explained well in terms of world building. But perhaps if there were wolfmen living on earth at some point, there might have been were-cats as well. I personally think that both clans committed some crime a looong time ago (possibly against the Soul King himself). The wolfmen's crimes were worse, so they were given the greater punishment, but if you think about it both the wolfmen and Yoruichi's clans both have restricted fighting abilities - the wolfmen have to go to extremes to regain their original fighting abilities, while Yoruichi really cannot assume her fighting cat form without a person whom she trusts unconditionally.

    • @ODBleach
      @ODBleach 3 года назад +11

      I think she can transform on her own. She just doesn't like to,because she's more animalistic, than she is human. So she hates to use that form. She told Sui Feng, she can't control it well. That's why Urahara forced her to transform. But yeah...Yoruichi is a were, like Koma. She told Ichigo, people always thinks she's male. Because of the way she sounds like a man. When she's in her, ORIGINAL form. She called her human appearance, "THIS form". She didn't call it, her normal appearance. Also , Byakuya called her, a "Cat-MONSTER", instead of catgirl, or catwoman. Plus cats were worshiped like Gods. And Sui Feng called her a Goddess. Lastly, Urahara's Zanpakuto, Benhime = Crimson WITCH. Witches, and magical, transforming, black cats, are synonymous.

    LONG PERSONAL THEORY:
    I believe that Komamura did became a complete human, not like we see him once his armor is down.
    My theory is that he became fully human (no wolf-life ears and a lot less hairy) the moment the technique was done, but he was on a timer starting that same time.
    Also I think he was changing back to a wolf as time passed, that's why he is in a mixed state during his fight with Bambietta. This would explain why neither Komamura nor Tetsuzaemon were surprised the moment he fully became a wolf. Also why he engaged Bambietta in the first place, so he would at least help before losing his powers.
    Amazing video, Tommo, I used to feel shame for liking Bleach, but you made me see there is more to the series that most people think.
    Edit: Added a few thoughts and grammar.

    Yikes, I had interpreted it to be that Komamura’s human form would remain as long as he never tried to fight out of revenge/vengeance. I remember him being in a mindset away from revenge while fighting Bambietta, but then after defeating her, saying that he wanted to get his revenge on Yhwach - which is what triggered his transformation into his primal beast form…did I completely miss the mark while reading those chapters? I believe Komamura wasn't living a pretender's life. I think that with time his heart might have become much more human than beast, and could have attained his human form naturally. Him taking out his heart grants him a power boost and transformation temporarily before the loss of said heart transforms him into a full beast. Komamura gave up what made him human and thus lost his humanoid form, any semblance of humanity. I believe it is a test of sorts for his clan, whether they can overcome their beastial instinct for vengeance or fall prey to it. Essentially we have another Gon situation where Gon this talented, pure boy fell to rage and sacrificed not only his life, but potential to gain temporary power that will end with his life. In HxH the process/contract was reversed, which if Orihime is capable could be done for Komamura. Even if Komamura didn't gain a human form at all he could have attained that level of power purely based on the idea that the boost of the transformation was what he would be if he trained for years. It is stated it is a curse maybe through purity of the soul or strength of will it could be broken then again maybe not, but it was all a matter of if he stuck to his principles and beliefs or succumbed to his conviction of vengeance. This is all my own personal head canon and interpretation.

      I was really sad too as i love Komamura. But later i understand why. Kubo always want to show us that anyone following the path of vengeance will receive the worst fate in Bleach. That is the ultimate sin. Tousen in his pursuit of revenge finally was killed horribly. The same horrible fate happened to Gin who wanted to take revenge on Gin. Every single character in Bleach consumed by revenge ended up dead or worse. At least Komamura is still alive as a dog.

  • @satmtca
    @satmtca 2 года назад +2

    I think that they were all originally humans who as u said sought revenge but died and were turned into beastmen and when they take out their hearts they turn back into humans cause their heart was the source of their vengeance but if they seek revenge they turn into the animal they were turned into after death and what the old dog meant by “welcome back to our clan” was that the reason he left the clan the first time was because the other clan members sought revenge and tore out their hearts in the past but Sanjin didn’t want to partake in their revenge so he left the clan. Now though he did it out of seeki by his own vengeance for the loss of his friend and in doing so was welcomed back into the clan because the lesson his grandfather was teaching him was by doing this they’re sacrificing their human half to become beasts not simply for revenge but to protect and later watch over those they love.

    My question here, and i know like alot of things in bleach this will probably not ever be answered lol but, are komamuras clan made up of beast man already because of their ancestors sins or is it made up of humans that die and turn to beast in the afterlife and THEN join the beast clan

  • @savage_Sloth90
    @savage_Sloth90 3 года назад +3

    How I always seen it is that they were a race that existed from the primordial era. The clan did something to go from humans to beast people. A ritual or what not that effected the entire blood line.
    Being werewolves maybe they feed on human hearts and that was their sin. And at forst was punished into being beast then during the separation of dimensions got sent to the soul society.

    Hi I love your content a ton, and I really wanted to share my thoughts on these forms where other ppl will see
    I do think this is a pretty good representation of Ukitakes bankai, because where as his shikai absorbs, amplifies, and releases other people’s attacks, this form seems to absorb and assimilate other energies to utilize it freely. So if this was just a bankai, he’d probably activate it in response to an attack to absorb it and use it to defeat his foe, assuming he didn’t have an ally to assist like Shunsui. Now, the most interesting thing here is that his third strong attack highly resembles the mimihage!! And that is the Beyond Bankai part of this power, it’s that he’s also channeling some of the mimihage’s power in conjunction with kageoni. That’s how I see it at least.
    Now with Yama, I agree with everything you said, and honestly I don’t like it nearly as much lmao, sheerly cause you need something crazy to be Beyond zanka no tachi. Imo they should’ve given him blue or even white fire to really elevate it to that status.
    I think Shunsui’s form being more like his shikai makes sense when you look at his bankai. He never seemed to really like his bankai, and considered it kind of a last resort self sacrifice move. Its extremely somber and is essentially uncontrollable as it would attack friend and foe in its AOE. So this beyond form takes the powers of his Shikai, that aren’t as tragic, and fully amplifies and concentrates it into this more powerful form. Unlike his bankai, this is him choosing to protect Soul Society, while also making sure he will stay to continue to protect it.

    Its a bit sad that all the time he was kind of Yamamoto's glorified watch dog... Once Yama was gone he had nothing left to live for apparently. Meanwhile, Byakuya got to have his gruesome, dramatic death-moment, while also surviving and not loose his powers or sth... Shinigami really aren't created equal

    I mean his great grandfather was a beast too though, did he also undergo the human transformation sometime long ago? Is that why he is so bitter? I mean his great grandfather has battle scars himself too, there was also that flash back of the original gotei 13, 2000 years ago that has a similar build to that of Sajin (granted not that you see any of them but it is fun to think about regardless)

    Personally, I always thought of the transformation as something similar to Super Saiyan 3 back during the Majin Buu arc in Dragon Ball Z. During the tournament and when Buu is resurrected, Goku is still dead and dead people have a limited time they're allowed back on Earth. When Goku showed that form to both Goten and Trunks, it greatly shorten the time that he was allowed to be on Earth. I always thought this might be a similar case with Komamura. Perhaps he could have kept the humanoid form for much longer if he didn't go into Bankai. He honestly had no reason to but again, he wasn't thinking with the clearest mindset and that probably contributed greatly into his decision to use Bankai. Actually, that's also something similar that happened with Nel. She knew she had to use her resurrection form but also understood that it would put an incredible strain on her body after finally becoming an adult again so shortly ago.

    Always assumed he was typical Komamura and mentally reflected on Bambietta's death, accidentally taking away from his own lust for vengeance, causing the curse to accelerate.
    He was just too good of a person to truly utilize the ability, and I bet if Kubo goes for the Hell arc, we see Iba kill gramps, and Sajin regain some form of intelligence, potentially even the ability to become human for bursts.

  • @Malthizar
    @Malthizar 3 года назад +1

    In reference to The Hell of Beasts, I think it's very much a real place the same as Hueco Mundo and the Soul Society are real places.
    It seems that, when you die, there are potentially 3 places your spirit can go. Good spirits go to SS, bad spirits go to HM, and good spirits that give into revenge go to the Hell of Beasts
    As with SS spirits, Hell Beasts can likely have relationships and foster children with one another. These children most likely "inch" closer to being regular humans which is why they stand upright and wear clothes.
    Those children, after enough generations, likely can create actual humans that are indistinguishable from regular SS humans.
    The issue is that, because they are linked with their vengeance and beastial nature, they likely can't help but give in and revert to being animals.
    Kommumora seems to have tried to escape this cycle and left to join the Soul Society. It doesn't seem like there was any actual barrier blocking him from entering. This likely means they "could" join SS whenever that want, but "choose" to stay as beasts (likely because they don't wish to leave and they don't want the persecution)
    That's my take on it all, anyway. Hell of Beasts is a real place Ichigo & friends could go if they wanted. It's filled with people who are too good to be bad and too bad to be good and are living in a sort of purgatory. After enough generations they could turn human, but most likely give in to their nature and revert into beasts anyway

    Brillaint video. I think you are right that vengence is a key theme to Komamura´s arc and the culture of his clan. Surely tgough, as the humanising ritual is about bringing them back to their original state for a short time as an immortal human, the crime the clan may have been guilty off was attaining perpetual mortal life. Those who do not die and flow in the circle of souls lead to the stagnation and imballance of the three worlds. A high crime indeed. No?

    I think the words used by elder signifies that young komumura rejected the whole vengeance thing but after he succumbed to that the elder rejoices that his clans ways are not lost. Him giving his heart is literal and metaphorical. Him giving up his code to become as rest of his family. Like coming of the son back. I also do not think there is some trigger to it. It's about how long one is able to keep the transformation

    It's a shame there's nothing really about the Wolfman Clan (or any family) in Bleach. There's a bunch of world-building but nothing to grasp onto. Wish Bleach would dive into its own history much like what Naruto did. Uchiha, Hyuga, Senju, and even a side character from the Kaguya clan have some importance in the world. Bleach we get Kuchiki and Shiba and not even a lot about them besides 1 or 3 characters from each retrospective clan. Like I'm so curious about the Noble families in Bleach, what are the Shihōin like? What about Kisuke's family? Why did he grow up in the Shihōin Mansion? These would have been answered in Naruto. Maybe there will be more books that explore the characters but I doubt that.
