We've all been there with that Yunalesca fight she was too overpowered and I vividly remember after dying I had to watch that cutscene all over again and go through all her forms talk about stress
I love grinding in ff games. Consequently i grinded zombieproof for everyone. Then mega death happened. Then i zombieproofed half the party then won on the 2nd attempt. Its not hard. Its "learn the gimmick and prep for it"
I will never forget my first encounter with Yunaleska. What a stressful fight. I exhausted basically all my resources just trying to stay alive. By the time I was at the final turn of the fight I had been driven into a corner: all the party was dead except Auron, who was very, very low on HP and had zombie and regen. I knew I had brought her low but I wasn't sure if it was low enough to get the kill. I had two choices: either remove zombie and hope she didn't kill me on her turn or attack her and hope it was enough to kill her, because otherwise I would be killed by the regen. Went for the hit and got the kill. God, what a rush that was.
I think the only reason I didn't have much trouble with Yunalesca when I played through FF X was because I watched how my step brother struggled against her multiple times before barely managing to defeat her
For me I level up in a lot of zones before going to the next one first one was road to ifrit, then the road before lightning horse to get items for stone touch, stone breath for cat and level up. Then woods because I hated the thunder plane's but later I realized it's a good place to lvl up if you unleash the catucts. Then desert fighting sand worms. Then cave for yojimbo. Then zanarkand ruses fighting behemoth and giant slime. Then inside I would hunt the robot's.
Am I the only one whos never died to Yunalesca? Not even on my first playthrough. When I play Megadeath keeps missing at all times, and i actually did learn not to late that keeping zombie status on helps. Maybe I overleveled, but I had way more troubles with Seymour Flux
5:45 Yunalesca was hard. But I had a much harder time fighting Seymour on Mt. Gagazat. Ended up having to grind a bunch for that one on my first playthrough.
I can never go a play through of X without falling to Flux. No matter how many times I’ve played it, and I know what’s coming, still get floored. Even when I spend an hour or so grinding in Bevelle to floor Natus, Flux always gets his revenge
I'm also a part of this support group. I doubly made the mistake of making my Ramza a summoner/black mage. I spent actual months (with no hyperbole) pouring over that fight trying to figure out how to get around it, looking at it from every angle in my 10-12 year old brain. Eventually though, I found a solution and managed to save my file. Turns out my Ramza had just enough unspent Knight JP to get Weapon Break, and thanks to that I was able to have the barest shot (like 10%) of breaking his weapon before he two-shot me. It took a day's worth of attempts to manage to land the break (I was a patient child, but at this point I was frustrated), and after that, I was able to beat the fight..... only to be greeted by my second ever (and now favorite) Lucavi of the game. And Belias was insanely rough. I think it took another three or four attempts to beat HIM, and I only managed that when I realized he was susceptible to Silence, and Ramza was a summoner. Then it became quite easy, and has been pretty easy ever since. .... Still waiting on a current-gen / PC port of War of the Lions, Square...
@@SolstaceWinters Or, you know, use that purdy Triangle Strategy engine they already have lying about and remake one of the best tactical rpgs of all time. Js.
Hell House made me so glad I was able to play FF7R unspoiled. That goofy random encounter from the OG returning as an epic boss was the very last thing I could have ever expected.
Factz!!! Even when he showed up I was like piece of cake, I took down plenty of hell houses in my heyday. Little did I know that this hell house had the burden of avenging his whole fallen race resting on his shoulders!
Yunalesca was tough, but personally I always found the Seymour battle at the end of Mt. Gagazet to be the toughest fight in the game. He was a huge levelcheck at a point in the game where you weren't really able to do a lot of side stuff or exploration and I found I always have to go grind a bit when I get to him even on replays.
There is a particular strategy against Seymour that can give you a significant edge: Start by casting Bio and Haste on him; the poison damage will add up massively over time, and having more turns means he'll take damage more frequently. Haste will cause their turns to de-sync, giving you time to remove Zombie before he casts Full-Life, plus, Seymour's only allowed to act once in between each of the Mortiorchis' turns, so some of his turns will be skipped while still taking damage. Dispel his Reflect so he casts Flare on himself, and when he charges up for Total Annihilation, summon a full-overdrive Aeon to take the hit while dealing a big one in return. (apparently killing the Mortiorchis will cancel the attack too, but I wasn't aware at the time) Stats/levels may help, but the fight is really testing your ability to plan and strategize and use the tools you have.
@@ElTaitronAnim Summoning an Aeon will not work to take the hit of Total Annihilation, since he will just banish it, then follow up with Total Annihilation anyway. Honestly all you need to survive it is just to put Shell on everyone, thats it. If everyone has decent-ish HP, someone will survive it, especially if Auron/Wakka is one of those characters. Also funnily enough, the attack is way easier to survive if you only have one character left lol since it hits less often against one target for some reason
@@ThundagaT2 final fantasy's greatest skill is making you feel like there's not enough time to cast defense spells and still have enough mana to survive
I honestly always remember having a harder time with the Seymour fight in Gagazet than I did with yunalesca. Though to be fair I usually had holy by the time I got to Zanarkand
The eidolon fight I found to be the most unfair in XIII wasn't Alexander, but Hecatoncheir. Only being able to use Vanille and Fang in the fight severely limited the paradigm choices and I usually found myself having to do the fight three or four times. What was truly infuriating about the fight to me was not only was the entire party present, but the previous two eidolon fights, Alexander and Bahamut, both allowed full three person parties.
It wouldn't have make sense to have a third character in this scene since only Vanille and Fang are involved. The thing is with Eidolons is that you can find multiple ways to deal with them. That's not the case with Hecatoncheir where only one strat is viable and an underleveled party can really hae trouble against it. So as you said, Hecatoncheir is the most difficult Eidolon. Alexander is not hard, just reaaaaally annoying.
@Good For Nutting Well the fastest way to deal with Sazh's Eidolon is actually with En-Ice on Sazh and Attack+Blitz until the end of the fight. If you don't know how the conditional modificators work (like 90% of the players lol), that sounds absolutely not logical to do.
I definitely fell for Yunalesca’s trickery. Never once did I think Zombie status was immune to instant death because I’ve always spent years on immediately curing that status. Only learned by accidentally getting hit by Mega Death without removing Zombie
Must have been your first FF game then. There's always a zombie gimic. Bet you also didn't know Evrae Altana can be killed using Pheonix down? (Not trying to sound like a ass. More of a 'welcome to FF where they like to mess with your head')
There's a boss in one of the Sky Pirate raids in FF14 that uses this mechanic too. The spell is even called megadeath. I was so glad I had played FF10 when I saw that because I immediately knew what I needed to do in that fight... after I died to it the first time, of course. lol
@@christopherdavidson17 not to repeat myself but I said I spent years on immediately curing zombie status. I was never hit with Death or Mega Death while under a zombie effect until that got to that point by accident. Yes I also knew Altana dies to Phoenix downs. Need 2 of them.
Seymour at Mt Gagazet is a boss that comes to mind which halted my progress. I ended up getting Overdrives on all of my aeons before the fight and just used them on Seymour. He kills every aeon immediately after with Banish (“death awaits you”) but the damage was done. Yunalesca was also tough but I felt that Seymour was harder at the time.
My biggest roadblock in 10 was always the Seymour fight on the mountain (I believe) I just remember that being such a massive jump in difficulty compared to everything else up to that point, and then everything after that being relatively easy in comparison.
My friend wasn't up to defeating him, so i had to learn game mechanics from that point. The cross thing destoyed me few times, because it could 1 shot whole party.
For me, Seymour Flux (Mt Gagazet Fight) was the hardest. I found I and my Aeons were so overleveled through Zanarkand and fighting the golems that I just Aeon’d Yunalesca to death. Also Vanille’s Eidolon in 13 was much more of a challenge to me. Still, great content, and I always enjoy the snow peak FF7 music playing in your vids.
100% agree with Weigraf. Had to restart my first playthrough because of him. Also taught me the magic of grinding, schooled him on my second playthrough.
THANK YOU for mentioning hellhouse in your list. I got stuck on this boss for an embarrassing amount of time, especially in hard mode, so I feel like my feelings of extreme frustration with this boss were validated in this video
@@notmus Well since you’re talking about the Dark Aeons means you didn’t play until the Remaster. So obviously you’re much older when you played for the first time. We’re talking back when we first played on the PS2 and for me personally being a 11 year old kid fighting Yunalesca for the very first time. Totally different situation
@@fearlesscheshirecat1411 The dark aeons were in the european versions of the PS2 release of FFX. As a kid all I knew was what the american/japanese version of the game was like, so when it finally released over here I got shocked to stumble upon the dark aeons and then get one tapped for over 10k damage, it blew all my ideas about how powerful yourself and enemies in the game could even get, I had no idea about being able to break the damage and hp limits nor all the extra stuff they threw in the international version.
The first time I got to Wiegraf in FFT, I ended up having to start over because I got save-locked. I don't remember how many times I had to retry Yunalesca in FFX, but I'll never forget having to sit through that cut scene every attempt.
Actually, the Eidolon fight I struggled with the most in XIII was Vanille's. You basically have to use both types of Fortisols beforehand to stand a chance.
Yeah, I don't remember Alexander being that much of a headache, but Vanille's Eidolon (don't remember the name now), I had to try over and over again to get it to accept my fighting tactics, and it did get quite frustrating.
Yeah I was shocked this wasn't Hecatoncheir. WAYYYYY WAYYY harder then Alexander. I know about 3 friends who actually quit playing the game at that point because they couldn't get past it.
I agree Hecaton was harder because you only had 2 party members and quake was quite powerful. Not having Hope leveled up is very subjective, which makes it a bad argument.
I can't believe I forgot about Wiegraf but I instantly recognized that room. It took me so many tries because I was underleveled. I ended up loading a save from a couple hours prior that I fortunately had so I could grind a little bit.
It was that very room that taught me the lesson of "Save Early, Save Often; but if you are asked to save in a location you cannot backtrack from, save in a separate slot."
@@SolstaceWinters I think it was Final Fantasy IV (or II as it was known in the US at the time) where one of the NPCs in the tutorial room told me to always have two saves. I followed their advice but never needed it in that game so the tip didn't stick. Then sometime later I played FFT and oh boy is that a habit for me now. XD
Yeah, it's a notorious soft lock spot. If you don't have multiple saves, (I believe Wiegraf is the 2nd battle of a 3 part battle level) you can absolutely soft lock yourself by being too low leveled, low geared to defeat him.
For me, I think the wyrm Evrae from FFX was the hardest Final Fantasy boss I've taken down. The reason it was so difficult was simply because it was the first legit difficult boss fight where you did not have Yuna in your party. Young me had relied far too heavily on her summons (because they were stupidly OP) that I had unwittingly neglected the rest of the party. As a result, when I went up against Evrae I was stuck with a party of characters that was both fairly underleveled and, more importantly, simply not well understood by me.
I had the exact same issue on my first play of ffx, when i was around 11. I got stuck there for weeks, stopped playing and only came back probably 6 months later. Then when you fight zombie Evrae in the Via Purifico I was so stressed about it, until I realised it was zombie and you could just x potion it to death. Next boss I got properly stuck on was Jecht and I think I just straight up quit the game then. Eventually I replayed when I was slightly older and finished it. I don't remember ever having that much trouble with Yunalesca though, maybe 4 or 5 attempts at worst.
I feel like once you have beaten a Final Fantasy game once you can get through them again quite easily. Bosses that I had problems with before seem easier and easier every time I play them
To piggy back off of your point, once you beat any final fantasy game for the 1st time, all of the others in the series become easier. You learn to keep multiple saves and grind as much as possible.
Another one that got really nasty if you played the game the wrong way was Adel in FF8 - it was quite easy to fall into the trap of just spamming your GFs over and over again instead of learning the junction system and how to trigger limit breaks, but then when you fight Adel, that doesn't work because GFs also hit Rinoa and hurt her. And if you've gotten used to level grinding in previous Final Fantasy games, you would be tempted to do the same here, except each fight only gives you 1XP. And you can't get out of the Lunatic Pandora because of a plot wall, so it seems that you're stuck. Although not really, because you can still draw spells from enemies, junction them, and then buff up your single attacks against Adel like you're supposed to. 😁
The player should be able to recognize that Rinoa is targetable once they select an action that targets all enemies (which pretty much all summons do), thats on the player. What really makes that fight hard is the fact that Adel's Ultima hits like a truck, so if your character's HP arent high enough you can end up losing to that.
8 was my first final fantasy and yes this happened to me. not only that but it was my first rpg (which btw 8 is a terrible first rpg) and I did not understand the junction system at all and was basically playing the game wrong the whole time. not only did I lean heavily on GF's not only were all my characters between 14-19, not only did I not have a lot of the GF's but I was also using Rinoa as a main team member (I believe I was using Squall, Rinoa, and Quistis). no one had anything other than their starting weapons, no other limits (quistis only had laser eye I think) so yeah....suffice to say after an hour of retrying over and over and over I stopped playing the game. luckily I tried to give RPG's another shot with FF7 and now its my 2nd favorite game genre. (I did beat 8 years later with a much better understanding)
@@zachariousmccool5768 How did you get to disc 4 at level 19? FF8 scales harder than any other FF I can think of but maintaining a level that low is like something for a challenge run, I don't see how you could pull that off as a first time RPG player.
@@VaporeonEnjoyer1 Have you played 8? It doesnt scale well at all. If you just go from town to town and go through the story you get hardly any exp at all. Bosses give you none and the monsters give you hardly any until late into the game. Thats one of the reasons I say it is a TERRIBLE first rpg for anyone and if I didnt give 7 a shot I probably would not like rpg's as much. Yeah I see it now as a challenge run but back then I didnt. I just played the game and thats where I ended up at. I relied HEAVILY on the GF's and thats it. I barely had any abilities or magic.....looking back its a miracle I even got to disc 4. I remember being stick on Gujin and Rajin for like 2 mo ths because I just could not beat them (also missed pandemonium from fujin lol)
The Wiegraf fight you are referring to doesn’t take place in Orbonne monastery, it takes place in Riovanes castle, the fight in Orbonne monastery is a pushover and can be ended with exactly 1 holy assuming the caster has a decent magic damage set up
That's one way to do it. Personally I like to use the Yell Spam strategy, and keep going until you have Ultra Instinct Ramza that has exactly as much speed and strength as Superman. It's excessive overkill, but Wiegraf/Velius needs to be humbled.
I love to just run a party full of Dragoons and just jump kill Wiegraf in Orbonne Monastery fight. At most it will only take 2 to 3 jumps to send him crying to his zodiac stone. :D
@@callmeshaggy5166 the first Elmdore fight on the roof is way harder than Weigraf in riovanes, Rapha is nothing but a detriment and 9/10 times will just run forward and get killed immediately ending the fight before you can do anything substantial

My boi Weigraf is a nasty fight for sure, and absolutely worthy of the mantlepiece of this video, but... it could've been worse. Could've been the 11 Monks of Madness at Grogh Heights.
Oh, that Lady Yunalesca fight, how I loathed that particular zone. After being tortured by her I didn't get Tidus' crest behind her. Sometime later after reading a guide I went back to get it, only to be greeted by Dark Bahamuth. And that's where I gave up on my boy. Sorry Tidus, I was willing to bust my butt playing chocobo race and blitzball, but that thing? It traumatised me.

Hell House on Hard Mode was definitely an astronomical feat, but I absolutely love Final Fantasy VII Remake! It’s the only game I’ve played over 5 times (9 times) especially in such a short period of time.
Hard mode hell house was hard. Hard mode Pride and joy gauntlet was hard as hell. But these two were a joke compared to Intergrade Secret boss on hard (don't want to spoil in case you haven't seen it). Mainly when fighting him with Cloud and company.

Yunalesca does bring back some memories, though I did find that having a buff Lulu (having access to -ga spells) wouild simplify things as Yunalesca has low M-DEF. While not a story boss per se, one I will always remember is Diablos from Final Fantasy VIII. Given the chance to fight early in the game, your party is quite underdeveloped, and with the GF scaling in difficulty as the game passes (plus the player missing out on useful perks the longer you wait) it is still recommended you try and best him sooner rather than later. He is fast, can quickly whittle down your party's HP via AOE, and he has high physical strength. The first time I tried my hand at him, I also failed to see the item description, "You should save before using this."
Getting him early is quick & easy if you draw-cast his demi spells against him till he's taking minimal damage. Use the character with highest magic so the draw doesn't keep failing.
yea, good old time where we can simply look for guide from YT, i fought diablo by accidentally use the lantern...a nightmare tho nt so difficult, but it would be a real nightmare if we fight it in late game
I remember playing Hell House for like 30 minutes and getting nowhere, I was so frustrated 😅 Also, Yunalesca was largely luck based. Sometimes I beat her first try, sometimes it takes me 5-10 tries. It really sucked because the dialogue before that fight is one of the best moments in the game, but after watching it 3-4 times, it really diminished Auron’s awesome lines.
Hell House is so ridicilously cheesable. Just maken sure both Cloud and Aerith have Chakra and along with Prayer that's all the free healing you'll need. Then just hit the House with Bioga and deal with the Tonberries as soon as they spawn. Triple Slash pretty much wipes them out. Bioga keeps damaging the House throughout its immunity phases, so just keep that going at all times and it dies pretty much by itself.
@@mutedmathamatician my first hard mode run I beat Hell House first try. I was like “Wow, I’ve clearly gotten way better at this game. That fight was tough on Normal Mode.” My second Hard Mode run confirmed to me “Nope, I haven’t gotten way better… I just got super lucky…”
I always make all my summons have their overdrive gauge filled so i would spam those after the main party got hastega set up. Thats how you can cheese most bosses but yunalesca too me a few tries but now i beat her first try cause i grind yuna up for auto life
@@mutedmathamatician I have never seen any list talk about Hell House on hard mode. Everyone brings up the normal mode, but once you figure out its gimmick, the rest isn't too bad. On hard mode, you can know exactly what you're technically supposed to do...and yet be limited by MP to enact it. It wins top billing in my book for the hardest boss I've ever fought. No less than fifty tries (started the battle with next to no MP on Aerith and was too stubborn to just repeat the chapter, lol).
Back when I was a child, the bosses I struggled the most with in FF7 were the demon wall at the Ancient temple and the 2 headed dragon at Mt.Nibelheim. But I guess my level was just not high enough xD
Materia keeper made me restart my VERY first playthrough of FF7... It was technically my first playthrough of ANY rpg... so my second playthough was destroyed by yuffie stealing all my shit.... the only other boss I hated was an optional... lost number was a huge son of a bitch
Golbez in the Dwarven Castle is one fight that really sticks out to me. (Especially the 3D-remake) First you have to go through Calcabrina and then Golbez pops up to kick your butt. With of course Rydia showing up with a low level to help. If you're unlucky enough Golbez will strike Rydia down, before you have a chance to do anything meaningful to get this battle back on the road. And each time those darn dolls wait on you first. And leveling up doesn't really help. Your only real luck could be that Cain is in the air
Except on all but THE 3D remake I had Rosa Kain Rydia ALL rejoins at lv 60 not lv 20 on the 2D versions I still had all at lvs over 60+ for the Demon Wall boss FF4 and easily offed its FF7 version I still beat easily at lv 45 with 5000 to 6000 HP 500 to 600 MP party members Cloud Barret Aeris only.
That was such a brilliantly designed fight. Granted it was the first JRPG on the SNES I ever played so I wasn't up to speed on how they worked, but the fact that everything takes place in the normal battle window instead of a cutscene really upped the tension for me. My first time I played I was convinced I did something wrong because Golbez was killing everyone only to freak out when one of my favorite characters came back.
I'm honestly surprised people had issues with Hell House, even on hard. It's just about using elements properly (but not spamming/wasting MP on hard) and killing tonberry fast. Rufus on hard mode was a lot more difficult
That is wild to me. Rufus was super easy for me and hellhouse gave me the hardest time. Guess it all comes down to the player and how each one of us plays different.
Yunalesca and Wiegraf are so memorable. I got safe locked to Wiegraf and was desperate on my first playthrough, I remember getting through it by just fleeing/potions in the first phase and increasing my speed, when I got enough speed for multiple turns in a row I started increasing strength, 15min of buffing and Wiegraf came down. It took me so many tries though to perfect this method lol, I just didnt want to start all over :D so must have used squire and alchemist for it, quite the hail mary desperate combo at that point in the game
Love the video. I remember that 'Materia Keeper' in FF7 used to cause me problems. Nothing about the fight was tough, I just think it was my misunderstanding of the game back when I was younger and always being under levelled. Constantly thought I was just rubbish at the game! Great place to collect the Trine 'Enemy Skill Materia' though.
Materia Keeper was the worst. I remember putting in Vincent and he turned into the Galian beast. The fight went into Auto-battle mode and I ended up going to bed and letting the fight play itself out. I killed the Ice side pretty quick but you had to line up so many Berserk Dances for every Beast Flare to slowly chip away at the fire side's health. Of course I was young at the time and thought that was the only way I could beat him. So on my next playthrough I did the exact same thing. SMH
Kinda wish that he also included the super bosses. I’m facing omega weapon(ff8) right now and would love to know how is he ranked among the hardest bosses in the franchise
FF8 Omega is actually one of the easiest superbosses because he has a fixed attack pattern. With the right setup, he goes down pretty easily. And no im not talking about the Holy War setup
I would say he is one of the easier superbosses simply because 8 is so easy to break. Im not sure who I would say is the hardest superboss as I havent played every FF but most of them.....so I would say Yiazmat(ff12), Ozma (ff9), Ruby weapon (ff7) are some contenders plus pretty much all the arena bosses in ff10
@@zachariousmccool5768 Actually you could make a similar argument against Ruby Weapon with how many ways there are to break FF7. I will say imo that Ruby is harder than FF8 Omega tho
@@ThundagaT2 That is true. 7 can be broken but not quite to the degree that 8 can just because of how the junction system works and powerful spells like aura. But I agree with you too Ruby definetly is harder than Omega simply because of the nature of the fight.
I actually beat him 2 days ago. Once you learn that “defend” neglect his “terra break” skill, which i hated the most, it’s game over. All i need to do is cast aura on my boy Zell and he’ll do all the damage. Also meltdown helped alot
I discovered the Final Fantasy series in the early 00’s thru FFVIII. Vaguely remember Ultima Weapon giving me a lot of grief BUT it was nothing compared to Ultimecia’s fight. Spent a solid hour crying when I FINALLY beat her lmao. I was like 9 or 10 at the time and remember my dad and older brother struggling with her fight. It just felt like a HUGE achievement for me at the time lol. Still don’t fully understand the ending as people argue over the meaning/etc. Fingers crossed for a remake treatment because I sure as heck enjoyed this game and will forever call it one of my favorites. Also, am I the only one that liked the Junction feature?? 🤨 That was like the extremely fun part to me along with the guardian forces.
From what I've heard, the main reasons why people hate the junction system are A) They don't really understand it and how it can make you really OP early on in the game. B) People like to use magic in an FF game, but you can't really use magic in FF8, because it'll decrease your stats, and you'll have to grind it back up again. C) A lot of FF fans prefer the old fashioned 'grind to get stronger' method. Personally, I like a lot of the unique methods they used in the post NES/SNES FF games, like FF7's Materia, FF8's Junction system, FF10's Sphere Grid, FF 12's License Board. Gave more to the game besides just level up to 99 and equip the best gear.
@@AzureKyle I consider myself decent at RPGs but I have to admit FF8s mechanics flew way over my head the first time and I became a spam GFs to win player for at least half the game. I recently tried playing the game again after a LONG time and did it the right way and it's kinda absurd how stupidly strong you can get early on in the game.
Yunalesca the first time was an absolute slog as a kid for me. I was heavily anti farming, hated the random battles so i was way under powered. Took me three weeks playing after school everyday, throwing my everything at that boss until i finally beat her. My second playthrough i actually leveled and my god it was easy.
Thank you for putting Wiegraf so high. I was one of the young, unfortunate souls who had to restart my file... Lesson learned, & to this day its never happened again
For FFXIV I reckon you gotta fuck with categories a bit, obviously the current tier savage raids gonna make a lot of this list look like absolutely nothing, but does it really count if it's top tier endgame shit meant to be tough as nails by design? Imo I'd rate em by either optional or stuff you are forced to do as part of the main story. In any case, Hydaelyn trial absolutely fucked me for ages lmao
FFVIIR Hell House wasn't a huge challenge for me. I finished it on my 3rd or 4th attempt after some alterations to my setup. Abzu on the other hand... I've tried at least 5 times (possibly a few more) and I can't remember getting below the last 40% or so of his health... Abzu just wrecked me every time regardless of my setup 🙃
Actually all of the FF XIII summons were easy for me, I always grinded to the max for all Crystarium when I needed. Also how wasn't there a mention to Seymour 3rd
Ditto on the grinding, and party members got CP for fights that took place even when they weren’t in the party or even in the party member select screen so you could get a whole lotta points to cash in on the Crystarium.
I find Evrae to be harder than Yunalesca in X, especially on a first playthrough when I overly relied on Yuna's aeons to do the dirty work and she is the only party member absent due to plot reasons. It's one of those battles where Rikku's endless supply of Al Bhed potions come in handy.
Same. I can breeze through Final Fantasy 1-10 pretty smoothly but that fight is a mixed bag, no matter how prepared I am. I usually die at least 3x to Neo on every playthrough. Only deaths in the entire run. I've tried lots of strategies and job builds to take him down. I rank him as the hardest final boss in the series personally.
Sin spawn gui in FFX was the first wall boss for me. I remember distinctly struggling as a child. Then on another run I learnt that with a bit of grinding, Lulu could have the 'ara' spells that trivialised it.
Tidal wave being the opening mechanic was the only troublesome part of Shinryu. If XIV was going to have an entry, it absolutely should have been Vishap. The original Steps of Faith was a gigantic roadblock that gated people from gaining access to Heavensward. SE came down HARD on the fight after all of the complaints and nerfed Vishap into the ground to ensure nobody got put off from buying the games first expansion. For a good month or so however, Steps of Faith was almost unclearable because it was such an 'outside the box' style encounter. Parties had to divide who was on cannons, who was on chains, who was on the dragonkiller, who was on adds and who was on the Boss. You needed to co-ordinate heavily and even death was only temporary because you got free, endless respawns since the fight was on a pretty strict timer. Sadly the fight got nerfed to the point of being pointless so anyone that played from Heavensward onwards never got to fight prime Vishap. For those of us with our day one clears, it was an experience we'll never forget.
People def complained that it was "unfair" that SE would put a boss like Shinryu as mandatory story content and that they were being gated from finishing msq. On a smaller scale it happened with Tsukuyomi too. Those fights didn't ask too much of players but the average FFXIV player is really below what you're probably considering it to be. Vishap was annoying cause it introduced a bunch of weird mechanics that don't follow the gameplay norm and then asked everyone to nail everything despite the learning curve. New players will never know what it was like getting SoF in your roulette and having 6 of your 8 party members take the penalty and leave. Imo Shinryu was a harder fight, but Vishap was also still worse to do
Honorable Mention new Dragonsong War Reprise Ultimate in FFXIV is by far currently considered the most difficult Ultimate fight by xiv community, I'm still trying to clear this fight after 54 days since it released, so close to very end, never imagined how much this fight would make me cry trying to clear it, teared up seeing each new phase
If I recall right, the way I beat Yunalesca was to make sure all party members had an accessory with Proof Against Death on it, then when she cast zombie, remove it from all but one character and she would not restore the status effect. To protect that party member from her casting regeneratives on them, cast reflect on them. If she used reflect on herself (I don't remember if she did or not), you could cast reflect on one of your own characters, then cast attack spells on them and they would bounce off on to her, since spells would not reflect more than once. She was pretty complicated, and she certainly made players think in creative ways about how they could make use of the abilities and equipment at their disposal.
Speaking of bosses as "gatekeepers", my first rpg i ever played when i was tiny was ff9. Just humming along until Gizamaluke's Grotto (yeah that early). Gizamaluke kicked my ass so many times, and as frustrating as it was, I knew I had to start over and figure out some more about how the game worked... which I did ^-^ cool vid! Love seeing things from some of the games I haven't played and learning how they worked!
Thanks for making this list. When I read the title I immediately thought of the wiegraf fight. I'm happy to see it made the list because it needed to be on here.
The key to win against YL is getting prepared and accept zombie effect to avoid death while using Yuna’s grand Summoning of each Aeons as a final blow .
Demons Gate from FFVII is an absolute monster for new players, especially if you've listened to muppet journo advice and not levelled Aerith. Most of your party members will be sitting around 900-1200 HP and that thing regularly hits for about 1k.
X is not only one of my all time favorite games, it’s the FF I always recommend to first time FF and JRPG players. I always give three pieces of advice after recommending it. Use every party member, every encounter. Do not flee from encounters. And as soon as you get to Mt. Gagazet, grind until you have Lulu’s ‘ara spells. Grinding her ‘ara spells is bit of a time sink, but I’ve found that those three things will make the playthrough a much better experience. You’re not so overpowered that you can’t enjoy the Seymour fight, and you have a really good foundation for everything going forward. It also greatly reduces your reliance on Aeons.
Demon Wall was weak to Virus which was one of the highest damage per cast time black mage spell. If you figured that out you could solo him with Rydia.
Yunalesca was tough, but could be dealt with through some changes in tactics, and possibly some monster arena grinding. Meanwhile Evrae and Seymour Flux were another story. Evrae punished you hard if you relied on Yuna and her aeons, meanwhile Seymour just hit hard, and it could get really tough to weather his constant assault while finding the time to keep hitting him.
I can't really understand _why_ a player would leave Hope undeveloped, since everyone gains crystarium points at the same rate, whether they're in battle or not. Plus, since you would have only recently gotten everyone together to make some real party compositions, having a synergist around is a good idea, and at that point you'd pretty much be choosing between Hope's defense-focused buffs or Sazh's offense-focused buffs. The party you had in the video of Fang, Lightning, and Hope was the one I'd already been preferring around then, so Alexander was one of the easier eidolon fights. It was only after doing some grinding on the steppe, which comes right after fighting Alexander, that I swapped Hope for Sazh, since he'd learned Protect, Shell, and Veil by then.
There were a lot of errors in this one. That, wiegraf at orbonne instead of riovanes, “being unable to change setup before wiegraf when you can absolutely do that, fire windows for hell house (which he caught). He usually puts out high quality content but this was oddly riddled with mistakes.
I found spectral Keeper more difficult. But then again after having a bit of trouble with Seymour flux I grinded had Flare, Holy, Double Cast and hastega. It made the battle with Yunalesca so much easier.
Glad to see my man Wiegraf/Velius at the number 1 spot! I was one of those unfortunate souls that had to restart FFTactics from the beginning because of that savelock. But even knowing it would come, in my second playthrough, I still had to retry the battle a bunch of times before I could find a strategy that would work. It's pretty ridiculous odds when you compare his long-ass-range-two-hit-kill Lightning Stab with whatever you try to bring into the table. And then you still had to fight a bunch of Lucavi afterwards which were no joke either
I had more trouble with Hecatonchiere than I did with Alexander. I remember when I first played Final Fantasy VII I was stuck on Gi Nattak for ages until I learned about healing spells and items harming undead enemies. Next attempt I went in and threw my one elixir and boom. One hit KO.
I remember the pain from my friend concerning Yunalesca. One thing I always learned from playing some of the earlier games from the SNES days to the PS days, that when it came to creatures you'd encounter and later bosses, that use some sort of status effects expect a long dragged out fight.
I remember Weigraf the first time I fought him. I was lucky and made a point of always having multiple save files (due to playing Phantasy Star 2 and 4 on Sega Genesis, some of the hardest RPGs every made) so I was lucky enough to be able to go back and grind the squire and monk jobs until they were maxed out. You can cheese him pretty easily with those 2 jobs together. Guy is a JERK if you try to fight him conventionally. At least Belias isn't TOO hard if you have a decent white mage with Holy. Great video!
I don’t know why but the boss I struggled with most was Materia Keeper from FFVII, it just seemed like such a crazy jump in difficulty for me at the time.
I only played FF7R on Normal difficulty, I didn't find Hell House too hard, I thought it was a fun fight, I don't know if it was the Hard difficulty that got it on the list, but for me it was more Abzu that was painful to fight and you have to fight him twice.
When you’re not actually fighting yunalesca it’s such a fun fight to think about. They played us so hard. I remember the first time I fought her on a second playthrough. It had been long enough that I forgot about mega death but not so long that I had forgotten there were 3 stages. Got the second stage one hit from death, removed zombie from everyone, fully healed, and confidently delivered that final blow. Then I was immediately chopped down by mega death.
Great video my friend! Another interesting and frustrating detail about the hellhouse is that it spawns tonberries in hard mode, and they can instakill our party members
OMG!! FACTS!! The moment I saw those Tonberrys, I knew what needed to be done. I was like, "Not today Satan!! NOT TODAY!!" They had to die first and then I went after the house.
@@silverwing0076 they caught me off guard the first time, then I learned to dispatch them as soon as they spawned, but then the sweepers got me near the end... So frustrating, but I prevailed after some more attempts 😆
@@RPsj I feel you on that!! I just recently defeated Hell House in hard mode. Now granted, I was more than leveled up for it, because something told me to get certain materia leveled up earlier. All those other playthroughs of just trying to complete the Play Log prepared me for it. I think I replayed Hell House maybe two or three times max. Oh and those revival earrings are your best friend in hard mode!!
The only ones I agree with on this list are Yunalesca & Wiegraf. Final Fantasy games tend to have main story bosses that are fairly casual friendly as long as you're adequately prepared with levelling & items, but this doesn't apply to FF Tactics, that game was just designed to be unfair, and Yunalesca required understanding a mechanic that most players wouldn't have been aware of until they've died several times and noticed the pattern.
There's actually a boss that completely changed how I play RPGs. The first time I played FFVII, I was prone to going "I don't feel like it" and running away from multiple encounters. This led to me being massively underlevelled against it's incarnation of the Demon Wall. Ever since, I only ever run if my party is in critical condition and I have no way to heal.
The wiegraf fight is somewhat managable for me as long as you have auto potion with x-potion on your arsenal. the hellhouse is also managablr as long as you have assesed it and keep dodging for big damage attacks
We've all been there with that Yunalesca fight she was too overpowered and I vividly remember after dying I had to watch that cutscene all over again and go through all her forms talk about stress
agreed. Took me at least three hours to beat her. It was frustrating
So frustrating. Pretty much had to know what to expect and be prepared for it in order to succeed. Damn zombie status effect.
I swear she was the toughest fight of the entire game. And having to re-watch the long cutscene before each rematch was annoying.
That zombie status effect from Yunalesca had 10 yr old me shook 🤣 it took like 4 tries back then.
Ah, good old turn based hectic FF boss fights, those were the days.
Did auron got the final blow?
If yes that would be so fucking cool since he finally avenged his own death & comrades
Yeah, Seymour Flux is pretty infamous, too.
Heck yes. Seymour absolutely floors a mid-tier player on Gagazet
Evrae was the showstopper for me
I can never go a play through of X without falling to Flux. No matter how many times I’ve played it, and I know what’s coming, still get floored. Even when I spend an hour or so grinding in Bevelle to floor Natus, Flux always gets his revenge
Yep. Actually stopped playing FFX for a while after reaching that point cause I just could not get past him.
I was a victim of the "Wiegraf lock". I was more than prepared my second time through the game. It felt great to get my revenge.
I’m pretty sure 90% of the original people who played Final Fantasy tactics were all save locked cause I sure was as well
Yeah that was such an unnecessary inclusion into the game and harsh punishment for being unprepared.
Not just weigraf but the battle on the roof with the marquis
@@SolstaceWinters Or, you know, use that purdy Triangle Strategy engine they already have lying about and remake one of the best tactical rpgs of all time. Js.
Hell House made me so glad I was able to play FF7R unspoiled. That goofy random encounter from the OG returning as an epic boss was the very last thing I could have ever expected.
Right? Especially with the hype leading up for so long, with hell house being the frontman for "no way this one gets in the game" from OG.
Factz!!! Even when he showed up I was like piece of cake, I took down plenty of hell houses in my heyday. Little did I know that this hell house had the burden of avenging his whole fallen race resting on his shoulders!
Playing through 7R again before rebirth and man… hell house is the only boss I’ve lost to more than once on hard mode. Crazy
It's super cheesy if you use all the aeons overdrive though lol
(apparently killing the Mortiorchis will cancel the attack too, but I wasn't aware at the time)
Stats/levels may help, but the fight is really testing your ability to plan and strategize and use the tools you have.
@@ThundagaT2 Is that so? I could've sworn that Aeon-tanking was my go-to, but it's been a long time so I could be misremembering.
@@ThundagaT2 final fantasy's greatest skill is making you feel like there's not enough time to cast defense spells and still have enough mana to survive
I feel so validated hearing FF7 Remake’s Hell House on the list. I spent so long figuring that fight out.
Hell House is a very damn good boss fight in FF7 remake, and easily my favorite boss fight of that entire game.
Hard mode Hell House gave me more grief than most Dark Souls bosses
Hard mode made him super difficult
That and behemoth type 0 are the one kill me the most
I rage quit Hell House hard mode after dying 5 times in a row had to ask my boyfriend for pointers lol
I honestly always remember having a harder time with the Seymour fight in Gagazet than I did with yunalesca. Though to be fair I usually had holy by the time I got to Zanarkand
It's a bit cheesy if you start with all the aeons overdrive though lol
I didn't like Holy because it couldn't be DoubleCast.
@@imspecial8520 lol I did but cuz i love seeing them every now and then
The eidolon fight I found to be the most unfair in XIII wasn't Alexander, but Hecatoncheir.
I Agree, this was the eidolon that stopped me during my first play through
I agree
I had this trouble also, I used Hope alot so Alexander wasnt an issue .... Hecatonchair was a nightmare though
@@Paddycake_Games yeahhh I recognized that interaction immediately. Thanks for bringing that back Yoshi-P

Same. 100%. Seymour at Mt. Gagazet.
I do this everytime i fight him :D
@@sacrophagus8685 it's a solid strategy 👍
My biggest roadblock in 10 was always the Seymour fight on the mountain (I believe) I just remember that being such a massive jump in difficulty compared to everything else up to that point, and then everything after that being relatively easy in comparison.
You mean people don't just spam summon Overdrives at him and finish him off with a tiny Lulu doll kick, or some other pathetic means of destruction?
The game really does pivot at the calm lands rock paper scissors goes out the window and the fights get a lot harder.
My friend wasn't up to defeating him, so i had to learn game mechanics from that point. The cross thing destoyed me few times, because it could 1 shot whole party.
Same dude until i faced Dark anima... but it's optional gladly.
If hp seymor under below 9999, I use overdrive kimahri self destruction. Seymour defeat.wkwwk
I agree
For FF13 I recall struggling against Odin, Cid, Barthandelus, and I think a sassy Behemoth.
Yunalesca was extremely difficult. Especially as a kid, and sitting through that cutscene over and over again just to die was DEVASTATING!!!
Tell me about it😂
HAHAHAHA what? That boss was pizza cake compared to Dark aeons, i won at first try and i didn't even max out my characters yet.
Oof glad as a newcomer this year I was a natural (Xbox one X)
Man, Hope was actually pretty useful. Good vid as usual
Same! I got frustrated with that fight. Almost made me want to look up the fight 😂
Yeah I was shocked this wasn't Hecatoncheir. WAYYYYY WAYYY harder then Alexander. I know about 3 friends who actually quit playing the game at that point because they couldn't get past it.
I agree. Alexander was more about being smart and making sure you knew what strategy to use. Sazh’s was also a rough one in my book.
Bosses that I had problems with before seem easier and easier every time I play them
That's every rpg. Once you learn the method and what to avoid, it gets easier.
To piggy back off of your point, once you beat any final fantasy game for the 1st time, all of the others in the series become easier. You learn to keep multiple saves and grind as much as possible.
l was like that too, but l feel for me; l grind too much and my characters are waay too strong for the bosses, so it's like one shot kill, ahaha
I was looking for this comment exactly. This 100%. I was stuck on the Adel fight for so long.
The player should be able to recognize that Rinoa is targetable once they select an action that targets all enemies (which pretty much all summons do), thats on the player. What really makes that fight hard is the fact that Adel's Ultima hits like a truck, so if your character's HP arent high enough you can end up losing to that.
8 was my first final fantasy and yes this happened to me. not only that but it was my first rpg (which btw 8 is a terrible first rpg) and I did not understand the junction system at all and was basically playing the game wrong the whole time.
not only did I lean heavily on GF's not only were all my characters between 14-19, not only did I not have a lot of the GF's but I was also using Rinoa as a main team member (I believe I was using Squall, Rinoa, and Quistis). no one had anything other than their starting weapons, no other limits (quistis only had laser eye I think)
so yeah....suffice to say after an hour of retrying over and over and over I stopped playing the game. luckily I tried to give RPG's another shot with FF7 and now its my 2nd favorite game genre.

She's actually one of the easiest bosses in the game for solo challenge runs. You just get zombie proof and laugh at her.
@@Silamon2 then you get Megadeath and she laughs over your grave 🤣 😂

I had more trouble with Sazh's eidolon than Hope's.
Even though I beat Hell house first try, it was a punishing hour long fight because I wasn't set up perfectly for the fight(I only had fire and thunder materia, but no blizzard).
So glad to see weigraf in FF tactics. I had to grind relentlessly to beat this boss and it cost me my 1st save file to do it lol. It's when I 1st learned to multi save
Daryl, as soon as you said "Final Fantasy Tactics" I got a cold chill up my spine 🥶, I knew witch fight you were gonna say!
Yes I got save locked my first go around, a harsh lesson indeed!
My boi Weigraf is a nasty fight for sure, and absolutely worthy of the mantlepiece of this video, but... it could've been worse. Could've been the 11 Monks of Madness at Grogh Heights.
I would really like to see a video of the 7 best progression systems (FFX sphere grid, FF8 magic junction, FF12 license board, etc.)
Should have Yojimbo’d Dark Bahamut. 1 hit KO
@ryan
I literally did this last night. Not going to play another 100 hours without tidus celestial weapon lol
I’ll fight the other ones fair though
@@jacoblarson8113 The only ones I’ve managed to beat Without yojimbos one hit kill Has been ixion, ifrit, and shiva. It takes a dumb amount of strategy to beat the Magus sisters and dark anima
For a laugh, I walked into that Dark Bahamut fight after returning for the Zanarkand cloister treasure (for unlocking Anima), Grand Summon Yojimbo, gave him all the money I had, dragon brisket.
I had trouble with the third battle against Seymour on Mt Gagazet the first couple of times
I actually learnt what mega death does through another video, as I used aeons whenever Yuna was present during a boss fight (even against Seymour, by using their overdrives before his turn) haha
Ah yes, the win button in FFX. It was cheap, but y'know what? That's the reward for system mastery.
yea preloading your aeons with overdrive was easy mode in ffx 🤣
Hell House on Hard Mode was definitely an astronomical feat, but I absolutely love Final Fantasy VII Remake!
It’s the only game I’ve played over 5 times (9 times) especially in such a short period of time.
Hard mode hell house was hard. Hard mode Pride and joy gauntlet was hard as hell. But these two were a joke compared to Intergrade Secret boss on hard (don't want to spoil in case you haven't seen it). Mainly when fighting him with Cloud and company.
@@pablostadler6392 Oh dude I’ve played this game literally 9 times. You’re not gonna spoil anything for me lmfao
@@fearlesscheshirecat1411 Nice. I meant Weiss in hard mode, with cloud party. It was such a bull**** fight. I spent more time running around as tifa rather than fighting
@@pablostadler6392 Yah that was definitely difficult! I had to watch Malice NX’s videos just for me to scrape by!
Then I finally got good enough to where I could beat him in around a minute!
@@callmeshaggy5166 Yup, this is something I learned much later (read: years later) ^__^;
yea, good old time where we can simply look for guide from YT, i fought diablo by accidentally use the lantern...a nightmare tho nt so difficult, but it would be a real nightmare if we fight it in late game
@@mbagon123 Yeah, late-game Diablos is absolute Hell.
The final encounter with Wiegarf took place in Riovanes Castle. The battle in the monastery happened earlier. Beyond that nitpick, excellent list.
Omg hell house on hard mode was true pain
@@mutedmathamatician my first hard mode run I beat Hell House first try. I was like “Wow, I’ve clearly gotten way better at this game. That fight was tough on Normal Mode.”
My second Hard Mode run confirmed to me “Nope, I haven’t gotten way better… I just got super lucky…”
Fukkin Yunalesca! I had to get all my summons to there overdrive in order to have a slight chance. That and her zombie status she puts on you.
Back when I was a child, the bosses I struggled the most with in FF7 were the demon wall at the Ancient temple and the 2 headed dragon at Mt.Nibelheim. But I guess my level was just not high enough xD
I remember struggling mightily against FF7 Demon Wall as a kid too!
(Especially the 3D-remake)
First you have to go through Calcabrina and then Golbez pops up to kick your butt.
Except on all but THE 3D remake I had Rosa Kain Rydia ALL rejoins at lv 60 not lv 20 on the 2D versions I still had all at lvs over 60+ for the Demon Wall boss FF4 and easily offed its FF7 version I still beat easily at lv 45 with 5000 to 6000 HP 500 to 600 MP party members Cloud Barret Aeris only.
i think the hardest boss in ff4 3d remake is that cpu and the nodes for me
That was such a brilliantly designed fight.
Guess it all comes down to the player and how each one of us plays different.
yeah, I only had 1 element materia equipped and still beat it. I struggled, but with all elements would be easier.
Garuda from ff3 sum up most of ff5 bosses.
He is that insanely powerful boss that can be beaten easily with a specific job regardless of the level.
That's what I loved about 5. Almost everything could be cheesed with the right setup. That game rewarded cleverness above all else.
I fear no Tonberry.
But that thing...

...it scares me.
I think the first encounter with Barthandelus is way harder than Alexander.
That fight was the one that made me respect sentinel
You are not alone, will grind hours for the magics I want junctioned.
@@ariwl1 Yeah. Especially with some grinding, you can get the Lionheart in chapter 1.
Great video! I love strategically difficult bosses, they're so much fun, especially on repeat playthroughs.
Yunalesca the first time was an absolute slog as a kid for me. I was heavily anti farming, hated the random battles so i was way under powered. Took me three weeks playing after school everyday, throwing my everything at that boss until i finally beat her. My second playthrough i actually leveled and my god it was easy.
love how 7 out of the top 10 comments are discussing ffx bosses, clearly the best ff has the hardest bosses.😁
I was 7 for ffx and that fight was hard as hell but that preceding cutscene was amazing
"But even now, it can pose a serious challenge if put with a team that doesn't function properly as a team." Extremely true to this day.
Thank you for putting Wiegraf so high.
I was one of the young, unfortunate souls who had to restart my file...
Lesson learned, & to this day its never happened again
I believe the Wiegraf fight being referred to is in Riovanes Castle. The battle in Orbonne Monastery is certainly difficult, but not fought solo.
I really felt like the optional boss Kefka from FFXIV was the one that had me at a stump.
What do you mean undeveloped Hope? Everybody is sharing experience.
Well if you don't go in his Crystarium, he'll remain underdeveloped.
I find Evrae to be harder than Yunalesca in X, especially on a first playthrough when I overly relied on Yuna's aeons to do the dirty work and she is the only party member absent due to plot reasons. It's one of those battles where Rikku's endless supply of Al Bhed potions come in handy.
it took me three months to beat Evrae
@@FuraFaolox Took me a few weeks the first time around 😅
Congratulations on reaching a quarter of a million subs!
I've always found Neo-Exdeath pretty difficult.
Imo Shinryu was a harder fight, but Vishap was also still worse to do
Awesome video. Yunalesca gave me so much unneeded stress.
That damn image still for you play the video LOL I see Ultimecia and I click.
I think they'd count Dragonsong Ultimate as a super boss, I dread to even look at a strat guide for it! Good luck with your prog and clear!
Dude, thanks!
@@gallupswon you welcome dude
Demons Gate from FFVII is an absolute monster for new players, especially if you've listened to muppet journo advice and not levelled Aerith.
Most of your party members will be sitting around 900-1200 HP and that thing regularly hits for about 1k.
Yes! This and Carry Armor are the hardest storyline bosses in the game. First playthrough was rough with those 2
X is not only one of my all time favorite games, it’s the FF I always recommend to first time FF and JRPG players.
Very fun and well made video, thank you!
Hardest "boss" was the chocobo race
I found spectral Keeper more difficult. But then again after having a bit of trouble with Seymour flux I grinded had Flare, Holy, Double Cast and hastega. It made the battle with Yunalesca so much easier.
I had so much trouble with Garuda when I was little its unreal. I was so happy when I finally beat that Boss
Funny you posted this the day I fight Zodiark in FFXII and he repeatedly kicks my ass. I got him though!
I had more trouble with Hecatonchiere than I did with Alexander.
I remember when I first played Final Fantasy VII I was stuck on Gi Nattak for ages until I learned about healing spells and items harming undead enemies. Next attempt I went in and threw my one elixir and boom. One hit KO.
The Gi Nattak was a ruthless difficulty spike until learning that truck. Spent hours grinding in that spot the first time I played through it
Oooh yea. Weirgraf was insane my first time. The Marquis and his two assassins were tough at first too.

*internal screaming* She was so unfair the first time you fight her... "ha ha, zombie, i can cure that!!!" *phase shift* Megadeath...
Yunalesca was tough...good thing they added that banger of a BGM to accompany it
I remember the pain from my friend concerning Yunalesca. One thing I always learned from playing some of the earlier games from the SNES days to the PS days, that when it came to creatures you'd encounter and later bosses, that use some sort of status effects expect a long dragged out fight.
for 14 im surprised you used that fight instead of the warrior of light
I remember Weigraf the first time I fought him. I was lucky and made a point of always having multiple save files (due to playing Phantasy Star 2 and 4 on Sega Genesis, some of the hardest RPGs every made) so I was lucky enough to be able to go back and grind the squire and monk jobs until they were maxed out. You can cheese him pretty easily with those 2 jobs together. Guy is a JERK if you try to fight him conventionally. At least Belias isn't TOO hard if you have a decent white mage with Holy. Great video!
It never fails. XI goes overlooked.
I don’t know why but the boss I struggled with most was Materia Keeper from FFVII, it just seemed like such a crazy jump in difficulty for me at the time.
Can self-heal, use Trine, 8400 HP, absorbs fire... like just on a base design it's actually a VERY competent boss for FF7 standards
I agree I didn't level much and Cait sith was only one with 1k hp It was difficult my 1st playthru now I whoop his ass easy
First, love your vids they are top quality
I only played FF7R on Normal difficulty, I didn't find Hell House too hard, I thought it was a fun fight, I don't know if it was the Hard difficulty that got it on the list, but for me it was more Abzu that was painful to fight and you have to fight him twice.
totally agree, i played hard mode and the 2nd abzu fight made me want to jump off a building, it's much more annoying than hell house
Hardest FF Bosses list that doesn’t include Absolute Virtue from FF11 is not a real list.
That Wiegraf fight.... I still shudder to this day.
