@@pizzaplanetalien5079 lol, the first game was a ps1 game and the second was a ps2 game, so of course the graphics are going to look bad compared to modern games, they're not going to be able to give it super enhanced graphics just by remastering it that would take a full remake, just like ff7

I had to do a double take. Of course I wish it would look better visually, but I thought the franchise was forever dead. Definitely buying this remaster!
Let's hope they fixed that Dark Reaver Temple glitch where you literally get trapped if you disturb the birds just outside!
It's already getting a dual pack on another, but that one has Blood Omen instead of SR2 and I think it's just a port. This one being on a more high profile is such awesome news

The cutscene where Raziel sees Vorador watching him will disturb the birds. If you don't save after that, and then reload that save, you'll never get out of the temple (same goes if you disturb the birds again after saving). I found that glitch out after looking at a GameFAQs walkthrough after tearing my hair out trying to leave the damn temple!

The late Tony Jay who voiced the Elder God voiced Frollo.
Tony Jay's voice was just on another level. I remember in Defiance when Raziel was confronting the Elder god going "you parasitc fraud - you're forced to imprison me because i possess free will" thr way Tony Jay shouted "YOU POSSESS NOTHING!!" Back at Raziel, i don't think his voice was ever truly appreciated.

Yeah, that was a VERY WEAK SPOT the Gamecube had. No 3rd party games whatsoever for the 1st 4 years (unless it was Disney with their movie tie ins)

Now the next generation will see why he mattered to me and so many others decades ago. Let us hope this does not disappoint us all.

With any luck, the rest of the series may get remastered as well, but what I’m really hoping for is the “unfinished” levels from SR1. I’d really like to play it as originally intended.

they wont cause they kept the license but have to give silicon knights credit for it and they still wont admit they took the franchise :D

Certainly one of the best voice acting in the history of videogames and an elaborate and profound story written so well... I wish they could do more with the graphics and hopefully they have touched the gameplay mechanics... But happy that a new generation can enjoy this amazing world!

I wonder how many games we'll have to buy to get the whole series? I also wonder if they actually plan on finishing the story in the future?
Well there's only 3 other games in the series. So maybe there'll be a remastered collection of Blood Omen 1 and 2 or maybe a full on remake of Blood Omen 1 since it's so dated. Then that just leaves a remaster for Defiance and a possible continuation.

Oh badass, I loved this series back in the day. The voice acting was pretty solid for the time, even with the original Blood Omen in 1996.
Kain is deified. The clans tell tales of him. Few know the truth. He was mortal once, as were we all. But his contempt for humanity led him to create me and my brethren.
I am Raziel, first-born of His lieutenants. I stood with Kain and my brethren at the dawn of the empire. I have served Him a millennium. Over time, we became less human and more ...divine.
Kain would enter the stage of change. And merge with a new gift. Some years after the master, our evolution would follow. Until I had the honor of surpassing my lord. For my transgression, I earned a new kind of award...agony.
There was only one possible outcome - my eternal damnation. I, Raziel, was to suffer the fate of traitors and weaklings - to burn forever in the bowels of the Lake of the Dead.

Young people don't know how significant this game was back in the day. Fuse Tomb Raider and God of War and you have Soul Reaver.

Yes, it does. I guess that's one of the reasons I loved those games back then. But the games (as well as the other Legacy of Kain games) were great even without those cool looking characters. It's a shame they didn't continue the series. I even liked the multiplayer game Nosgoth, despite all its flaws.
He's too pretty now lol. He was way uglier on PS1. He's pretty vicious though especially killin those wraiths.
These kind of games don't get enough recognition, especially if it has a certain Gothic related theme in it.

Not right now. The PC version is on GOG and the PS1 version will be on PS4 and 5 as a “Classics” release sometime in the next couple of months, but no word on if it’ll come to Switch. I’d like to hope it would, I’m pretty sure simply porting over the PS1 version with different buttons in the menus should be easy.

I remember renting this game from my local library, but I played it so much and never gave it back. Wonder how much I would have to pay for all those years of not returning it 😅.

Great voice acting that is Shakespearean in tone, philosophy, fatalism, a gripping narrative in general penned by the same woman who wrote the uncharted series. Exploration of a gothic dying world on the brink of collapse etc.

Words cannot describe how long I have been impatiently and eagerly awaiting some kind of new content of any kind to this much beloved franchise. And not too soon: I just beat Defiance emulating through RPCS2 on Steam Deck for the umpteenth time since getting it in my OG Xbox 21 years ago and I played and completed SR 2 for the very first time the same way (I never had a PS2). I WAS going to play through SR1, but I'll wait for the remaster now.

Switch 2 is supposedly gonna be backwards compatible (don't be an idiot and take that as fact), so it shouldn't matter if it's not 60fps 4k ultra HD 3700ghz for a soon-to-be outdated console

Pretty neat. Shame they didn't think to restore some of the cut content. Imagine how could that could be to play the game and then replay it but see the original ending and the characters/locations that would have been seen leading to it. Still, one can hope this might revive interest in the series.
Just have to hope they don't go and censor anything like they did with the Tomb Raider remasters. Can't imagine there's anything to change, but I know better than to just assume it can't happen when the last collection did.

-Final Fantasy Tactics
-Xenogears
-Persona (1, 2 and their variants)
-Tail Concerto
-Guardian's Crusade
-Shadow Madness

I’m going to get it just to support future releases in the franchise
grew up with the second one on the ps2, I guess I can play the first one now and enjoy it on a modern system, sweet.
I just hope this sell well enough and they make a second collection with Blood Omen 1, 2 and Defiance, and in the future, a sequel.
