Germans: Belleau and hill 142 are ours!
Marines: Challenge accepted.
Germans: What? That wasn't a chall... Why do I hear boss music?
😄
Underrated comment.
German: Why Bellevue and 142 are speaking Yankees???
Because it's only a small wood, it's not a forest.🙂
“Retreat?! Hell we just got here” Marine Major at Belleau wood
(Marine Vet here, so take what I say below with a grain of salt, it may be my bias or I might just be wrong but something I've seen a lot)
A common comment I see attributed to foreign leaders that have fought against the US military is, "It is hard to fight the Americans because they do not follow established doctrine of war."
To which the American reply is, "Hell, if we don't know what were doing the enemy sure as hell won't either."
The US to my knowledge generally follows and allows small unit initiative. "Here is the objective, go get it."
While European armies were traditionally more rigid in their doctrine. "Here is the objective, this is how you will get there."
I was reading an ww1 article covering german impressions (interviewed after war) of american soldiers. One of the more common comments made was about the tenacity of american troops, despite seeming lack of discipline or training.
Another less common topic (that i found funny) was how german troops were told to always keep an eye behind them when fighting americans, cause "you didnt know where they would come from".
Oorah, Semper Fi, Do or Die, Devil Dog, once a Marine always a Marine. Thank you for doing this video!
my dad was a marine in 1968 and served until 1995
@@AlphaWolf789 cool story, no one cares
@@jakobullrich9479 hey bud go hug a cactus and be a buttercup
@@jakobullrich9479 You cared enough to comment 🤷
Some American soldiers were initially put under Australian command. You can guess how much Pershing liked that.
The Australian general, Monash, was one of the finest generals of the war and his command of the battle of Hamel is studied at West Point if I recall correctly.
You should react to panzerkampf from sabaton AND extra credits bismarck episodes although i believe you know much about the ship it is very interesting the way he tells the story. Greetings from greece!
both of their series on the hunt for the ship and the rise of the Iron Chancellor are great!
Damn why didn't yt tell me you released this I jad to stumble on it on my own
I'm very glad to have found this channel. I watched nearly all of your ultimate General Civil War gameplays . I love the commentary you give. But, I just wasn't interested in any of the other games. Very much been enjoying this channel so far
Yay sabaton, hope you react to carolus rex album
Dan Daly had enlisted during the Spanish American war but the war was already over before he could finish basic. He actually got his first medal of Honor during the boxer rebellion.
Sturmmann: Yes! Now with this new infiltration tactics we will win the war!
Marine: Bad choice Jerry, bad choice.
great video👍👍
hills of gallipoli is also a great sabaton history video
it has two parts, you should check them out
I know this doesn’t have any questions about this video but The younger brothers are my great great great great uncles on my mom side on the family
What the Marines showed, was despite the heavy casualties, the best way to reduce overall casualties throughout the war, is to punch the enemy in their mouth and never give them rest. Sun Tzu mentions this in the Art of War, never give your enemy rest.
Also despite being fresh, American Marines were thought of as crass and ungentlemanly with their fighting by some of the French and even the Germans.
Would love to see you do a video on the Harlem Hellfighters.
I'm enjoying the Sabaton reactions and commentary. I would love to see you do the same with other artists that focus heavily on recounting history through their music. One artist that is very history-focused is English Folk Rock singer Al Stewart. He has a fairly well known song called "Roads to Moscow" that focuses on events on the Russian front in WWII. "Always the Cause" and "On the Border" are about the Spanish Civil War. "The Palace of Versailles" about the French Revolution. "Warren Harding" about the titular American President. Lots of great music with historical information, albeit a completely different genre of music than Sabaton.
Great video as always, please bring smoking snakes from sabaton and keep up the good work
14:28 it was Frederic the Great at the battle of Leuthen in 1757
When he brings up how the marines are under the department of the navy. The best way to piss off a marine is to call him sailor.
Mans uploading so fast I can hardly keep up!
Do a vid on Churchill and Gallipoli
Nice video keep up the good work
Department of The Navy is correct (Men's Department) ... Except the Marine own and operate all Submarine forces. (Sub Marines)
About the Dan Daly quote, having served with many Marines I have no doubt he said it as his men remember it. I also suspect that he churched it up a bit for the general public.
You had me at Marine
Nearly 2000 of our boys killed in those little woods...
Dan Daly's first medal of honor was during the boxer rebellion in china
I like that bands concept, with the history stuff, that’s really cool! Unfortunately I don’t like metal though.😢
Double upload!?!?!?
I needed something "light" after the last 2 videos!
You should react to livgardet or Carolus Rex great song’s
Marine vet here...most butterbars come from other schools NROTC units not Annapolis
Yeah.... in MODERN times. This is pre-WW2 Marines.... a branch that has been around since 1775. 🤦🏼♀️ Guess it checks out that you were a marine huh?
You should definitely react to "German Soldier Remembers WWII"
Amazing video
Rating 10000/10
I thought the soviets losing to Finland in the winter war was embarrassing, but Oral Roberts gave embarrassing a whole new meaning #GoBlue
The mens department thank you
Just an idea to react to sabaton Soldier of three armies
It's a great story and song

Hearts of iron next ?
You’re awesome
The singer looks like a German Rob Zombie
Vary interesting
The French actually told them the war was lost, they were done...
Judging by the mass casualties caused by French and English tactics, if we had let our troops be commanded by them our casualties would have been worse. Haig lost what, 60,000 men in a day because he ordered them to walk and wasn't close enough to the front lines to adapt to anything. The French were so careless with their men that the French Army mutanied.
I can't blame Pershing for wanting to remain independent.
There's only one place in the entire world I would do absolutely anything to go to. Thats Auschwitz. I have studied the holocaust since I was 5 and I found out my great grandmother was from Poland and she lost a lot of family
40:1 next?
He has reacted to 40:1

Looking for all the Marines to hit the comment section full of vitriol being called seamen and not Marines... 😅🤣😂 While true you just stepped on a gigantic land mine there.
When did I call Marines seamen?
@@VloggingThroughHistory lol when you called them part of the Navy and not technically their own department... Navy = Seamen. Marine = Marine. That simple. Telling many a Marine they are part of the Navy can be fighting words.
@@danielrupp7578 well not if you add : the mens department
I'd rather die the way the Americans fought here, than live in those trenches
Smoking snake
How do you know if someone was in the Marines? Wait 5 seconds and they'll tell you.
Sabaton is a much better topic.
