  • After 8 full days of backpacking, Liam and I were ready for our first rest day of the trip. We made vague plans to visit the Police Meadows Cabin where we were supposed to stay that night. The COVID closure stopped us but the cabin wasn't actually closed. We spend the afternoon there snacking and playing cards.
    About the cabin:
The cabin is located about 2km SW of the porcupine campground. According to BC parks, it is an unmaintained cabin and has been around for roughly 50 years. Don't be expecting luxury. Do however expect an uptick from tent life that is certainly worth checking out if you're in the area. A booking is not required which is why parks recommends bringing a tent in case you do arrive late and all the bunks are taken. It is not to be used by hunters (which has obviously been totally ignored) and it is closed during COVID-19 (has also been totally ignored). Lovely spot though. Even just as a lunch break on your way into Magog I'd recommend checking it out.
