How do you know what motivates him? I know that Adam's said that one reason he entered Idol was to get a record deal & make more money. I totally get that. When you're approaching 30 (Adam was nearly 27 when he entered Idol) even if you’ve never been motivated by money, you start thinking about the fact that you don’t own your own home/ have financial security & are not able to help your parents the way you’d want to. Plus he’s also said he wanted more creative control & to make his own music

...watching this yet again. I agree w Michael 100% when he says the audience rebels when the judges make big pronouncements about a contestant. I've seen it time and again, and if it's someone I like, I cringe. Maybe this has lessened with Simon out of the picture. And I detested Ryan's "guy next door vs. The guy liner." FU, Ryan (if you wrote that dumb, pejorative line, which I kinda doubt.)

    kronos251, i agree.
I've grown tired to watch Idol consistently since Bo Bice lost.
When Kris Allen first did "Aint No Sunshine" by Bill Weathers, I was COMPLETELY blown away because that is one song that is not well-known nowadays but his version can be played today on the radio. Same with "Heartless".
You gotta have a certain talent to rearrange, even change chords and verses in order for the song to work in the contemporary genre, thereby a complete RE-BIRTH of the song altogether.

They were both good and so different. If they had the similar style in music, performing, and singing it would be difficult to decide.

Totally agree. And I'm saying this as a huge Adam fan, Kris' song arrangements were always fucking brilliant. I remember watching him perform She Works Hard for the Money and just being blown away, same with Falling Slowly, Heartless and Come Together (which is a ridiculously underrated performance). Although I was pretty sad at fist that Adam lost, I'm glad Kris won and I honestly wouldn't change the outcome if I could. Hopefully they'll both be just as successful as the other.

Still pissed that Adam didn't win

It was an easy mathematical prediction - Gokey's votes went to Kris because he was the more similar/safe/boring/etc contestant.

adam and kris are equally talented but i just prefer adam . good luck kris

So if Kris does two songs really well that means he's better? no
Adam week by week proved himself. He changed songs as well & csang circles around Kris to be honest. I don't want to start an argument here, but Adam needs to be given credit.
I still really like Kris but being a Pisces I like different & the rediculous. To me Kris was ordinary. I loved Heartless though. He totally dazzled me lol
At least my foreign boy cutie won Eurovision. Check out Alexander Rybak!!! I think u'll like him :)

NO Bourndries doesn't fit with Adam or Kris, because Kara wrote it for Danny. The producers were pushing for a Danny - Adam finale, and they expected Danny to win, given the sum of Danny and Kris' votes. They didn't count on power voting by Kris' and Adam's fans. Or Dream on being screwed up.Now they have read the riot act to WhatNotTosing, to make sure they dont' end up holding the bag next season for a finale show that doesn't fit what happens..

beanybudd, I see you're a fan of Adam Lambert. I dont argue either because, to put it politely, I am far from being a Lambert fan or his style of singing per se. nothing personal.
Like kronos251 said, Allen and Lambert are polar opposites in terms of style and genre. Im more into the alternative/acoustic rock, oldschool hip hop.

kris only had those amazing arrangments cos of adam, he went to adam and adam told him what arrangment to do. And kris performed well. I dont agree that adam peaked and maybe that was a problem, he was at a nuetralised performance every night. Every single night he was the best, vocally and artistically. The reason he diddnt win is cos of his style he isint the typical im doing it for america clarkson, under wood, now allen. It was 2 years ago adams now a huge megastar and a grammy nom so..

Although the one thing I wuld definitely change is have Allison be in the Top3. And to have a different coronation song at the finale, because No Boundaries is terrible. It's terrible when Kris sings it, and it's terrible when Adam sings it because it's just...atrocious, lol.

Tracks of My Tears was my favorite performance of the season, but I was really glad Kris Allen won..

i don't like Kanye West electronic voice either. Some else who can actually sing should get the honor of singing the songs. People who work hard and don't need computerized voices, like all those Disney stars. And Kris & Adam couldn't be anymore different. More ppl just like Kris's style more. Especially Arkansas...
Alright, nice talking to ya :)

    (contd)
By varying degrees an earthy, urban style, which Kris Allen have encompassed throughout the show.
I felt Bo Bice did that, but I was continually disappointed and stopped watching altogether. Daughtry did that, but he lost at 4th place. I wanted an original artist in the rock industry, because the industry these days is dying from stale auto-tune punk wannabes. Same with modern-day rap, I hate Kanye West's electronic voice.
So as for your Rybak foreign star, ok I'll check that out, sure

Just watching this for the first time 12 years later. There was definitely a gay backlash throughout the entire show, Adam was out the whole time, he just didn't "announce" it. Kris was the typical WGWG (white guy with guitar) and Paula even mentioned his "quiet faith". If that wasn't stacking the deck, I don't know what was. Adam was (and is) definitely the better singer, but probably the best thing for him was that he didn't win. I have. the opposite take on the judges "championing" somebody. The people they single out usually win, for no good reason. Look at Lee DeWyze vs Chrystal Bowersox. Anyway, have no idea if you guys are still around, but I think you're out to. lunch on this one.

BTW with regard to the other posts..
My favs of lambert's were Mad World, and Play that Funky Music White Boy.
I just find him too self conscious to sing PoP music.
If he has range, control, tone.. let him aspire to genres where that is more important than emotions - feelings, such as musical theater and opera.
Love those genres as much as i love Soul, Rock, Pop etc..

But i doubt he will go back to that.... as it is MONEY that motivates him.
    C'est dommage
