Are you always going 2x berserker on weapons or do you prefer going for flat AP or Black magic that offers 250 haste and can proc on FT (actually worked on beta) ? And what are we going to use to enchants our Helm & Shoulder ? (I know it sounds like a shampoo...) Are we going for AP or SP oriented arcanums ? Hey man! Well, it is really useful when you have int/agi/str/ap (all convert to SP) or SP-trinket that proc midfight. However, the scaling isn't giga-omega-huge, so we are only talking small DPS-increase compared to using totem at a good "time" rather than when snapshotting is perfect.
Basically, timing > snapshotting for totem but if you can combine the two, happy to hear you learned something!

Hey man, just came across your channel after just learning about this spellhance build. It all seems super fun to play and I'm excited to see if it works in wrath classic since I'm maining enhance and I found out about spellhance while researching wotlk builds. I just have 1 question though, maybe I'm reading the talent too literally and overthinking it, but dw spec says "increases hit chance while dw" it doesn't say "increases chance to hit with melee attacks while dw" so does this 6% help with our spell hit?

1. The "Normal build" you can easily find elsewhere, the big differences between talent point decisions usually are in improved stormstrike (0-1-2/2) and intellect.
2. Yea I intend to finish the lists once the EP-values for enhancement are reliably found out (open beta/prepatch).
As to what engi-goggles to use, use spellpower if its cleave/AOE and the agi-one if its single target.
if i put windfury on BOTH weapons,and i take glyph of lightning shield to boost statick shock procs,focusing most my dmg on autoatack,can this be made into a non shit tier dps build for fun...?

Do Fire Elementals snapshot haste the way Gary does? That is, should it be prior prior to or after Lust.
Im curious why talent into enhancing totems when 1. there is almost at all times a DK with horn, and 2. mental dexterity converts intellect into raw AP.
Great guide. Looking all over RUclips I cannot find any Pre-raid BIS or Phase 1 BIS lists for enhance sham for WotLK. If you know of any could you link them or better yet make them lol. I’m sure many many players would love to see a good Pre-Raid/Phase 1 BIS guide/list for enhance. Like the one in your sheet is so bare bones for players not use to playing WotLK they have no idea what half of it means. A video showing it all with maybe one or two descent alternative items per slot would be amazing. Exactly like Rugz is doing yet he hasn't done Enhance Shaman yet. Seems NO ONE is covering Enhance for WotLK. Would be dope if you did.

I haven't done the math for the trinkets so can't give you a defined answer.
But here's my feel-crafting:
1. STS increases your physical damage sources mainly, and while attackpower does convert to SP, it's mainly autoswings that benefit from armor penetration.
2. Phylactery CRIT and so proc both benefit your AOE/cleave alot, but your physical damage sources don't benefit.
So, my logic here would be that single target fights would prefer STS while cleave would prefer Phylactery.
LOD is a fight that has single target (lich king) and cleave (spirits and valkyrs) priority, so depending on when your guild struggle, use one or the other.
If you just wanna pad/dps whore, then Phylactery will inflate your damage due to "useless" AOE dmg.
0 math in this post, just a feeling.
Great guide! Really making me wanna try out Spellhance! A niche question that you might have an answer for; is the EoT totem for elemental ([Totem of Electrifying Wind]) a good early choice for spellhance? 200 haste seems really strong, and I heard it has a 70% proc rate at a 6 sec GCD (earlier wrath numbers, not sure if they're in line with warmane and similar servers).
EDIT: And also, fast off-hand or slow?
Hey! Yea that totem is really good, what decides exactly "how good" will have to be the uptime on the buff.
Is it 100%?

This heavily decide my answer.
Remember our goal is to beat the 60 haste buff from stormstrike.
So, some quick math would say that even if the electrifying totem has 1/3rd uptime, it's still better than the 213 totem.
Offhand - doesn't matter fast or slow because lava lash and stormstrike damage is irrelevant.
The stats on the offhand is what we care about, not the damage.

Just started and hit 80 on Warmane FM3. Whilst gearing in dungeons I really find myself struggling with mana since I'm using Lightning Shield and Magma Totem. I play with the build you listed. Am I playing wrong in 5 mans?
Question, offhand weapon. Do you like fast or slow offhands? I know its all haste but wouldnt a slow off hand being the physical weapon benefit more than a fast OH?

Is weapon syncing still a thing that enhancement shams need to worry about in WotLK as they do in TBC?
Hey man!
In TBC-classic we weapon sync/stagger to achieve two things:
Flurry uptime consumed by MH only.
WF ICD consumed by MH only.
In WOTLK, we do have MH/OH hit-tables much like in TBC.
But many of our main sources of damage in t7-9 are from procs upon hit, so the last thing we wanna do is cancel autos (MH or OH).
In t10 however, MH swings are a greater source of our total damage done.
Because of this change in playstyle from TBC-classic, we don't stagger/sync weapons in wotlk. The BIS-weapon setups often use a fast MH (a spell dagger or mace) and a slow OH (stormstrike damage), and you can imagine the horror of trying to sync a 1.8 MH / 2.8 OH.
Chances are your attempts at getting synced will in 2-3 AA's be completely nullified and you miss out on too many swings, and in a procs-per-hit based class that's a major no.
Hope I explained well why stagger/sync is counter-intuitive in wotlk but why it COULD have potential in later tiers.

The great question - from T7-T9 do you prio slow or fast off-hand? I feel like my flame procs is quite good
Is it really better to go 1/2 imp stormstrike instead of 0/1 shamanistic focus? What about dual wield specialization talent? That +6%hit doesn't show up on character menu. Does it count agaist your spell hit cap? Does it mean that you need 11% hit from your gear to get spell hit cap?
No it only counts for Melee
Why is lava lash last in rotation on single target tho? It hits for decent dmg + procs flametongue and maelstrom. Also doesn't shaman gets longer GCD for using stormstrike/lava lash compared to normal spells? (Don't they get reduced by haste since they are spells not abilities?)

Reason flametongue is lowest priority single target (early on) is due to the low damage it deals.
It can proc maelstrom so it isn't awful, but if you can chose any other global it's better.
And yes, only spells gets lower GCD to cap of 1s. Stormstrike and lavalash is unaffected by haste on their GCD, delaying our abilities even further if used.
In the end, using lava strike higher priority than other spells isn't gonna make or break the class but it is the worst choice.

@ 5:14 you refer to a "high atk power/high sp trink" is the picture, my question is does that picture have any relevence to the trink that needs to be used? Dying Curse or Bandit's Insignia?
Hey man.
The trinket-icon there is dying curse, that procs spellpower. Upon proc, you want to use abilities that scale with spellpower.
When you use an ability, the game "snapshots" your current stats and does damage based on that.
Some of our abilities will last longer than the buff (fire elemental, flame shock and/or ghost wolves).
It's important to understand which stats that update dynamically (every frame) or gets registered upon application (when you used the ability).
Shamans are a bit weird because we have physical abilities, spells, pets and guardians (death knights have same arsenal).
Our fire elemental snapshots our spellpower upon spawning, which can be greatly abused. Our totem "creatures" are coded as guardians.
Our ghostwolves update their stats dynamically, so you shouldn't worry about procs when you summon your wolves too much.
Our ghostwolves are coded as pets.

Great video. This video's certainly got me more interested in giving enhance shaman a try in WOTLK. Just a question, the sheet you directed us to for gear bis lists seems a bit bare for the prebis portion. Some pieces are marked as T7 and a few are empty. Do you plan on updating those parts or do you feel prebis armor pieces are not all that essential to make a list for?

I plan to update the sheet with bis-lists once the beta-findings are more conclusive.
When we make a bis-list as enhancement shaman, we need to take the amount of targets into consideration.
If the fight allows for cleaving/AOE, then "spellhance" itemization is favorable.
If the fight is single target, we will opt for "normal" enhancement itemization.
As soon as the EP-values for enhancement (for both of these situations) are figured out, I will publish my findings.
TLDR; Its hard to fuck-up enhancement gearing in wrath, just get spellhit cap and after that anything is fine really.
Why is taking 3/3 imp shields better than just maxing out 5/5 Ancestral Knowledge? Wouldn't the AP gain from maxing out the rest of that talent benefit/improve all your sources of damage and not just your lighting shield?
Why would I want 17% sp hit if I have boomkins and shadow priests in the raid?
Hey, does dual wield specialization talent 6% hit rating only work for melee hits? If it doesn't work for spell hits, we shouldn't be getting it, right? and btw, which relic totems are we getting in t7-t9?
It's indeed for melee hits and not spellhit.
But, there are no better DPS talents as white hits are a great source of damage for us even in t7 and when we land a hit, there's a chance of maelstrom proc.
So it's one of our best talents.
Don't miss it.
2 questions! are you dropping magma totem with your totem rack or are you dropping other totems before pull?
And are you using the fire elemental on that global instead of the magma totem in that rotation if you have the procs and the CD available?
In wotlk, we get the luxury of dropping 4x totems per global instead of 1x.
So what you do is that you drop your 4x totems for raid benefit before pull (in terms of fire totem, this should be SP-totem).
When you reach the enemy, you either drop magma totem (standard ST/cleave), fire elemental (if you snapshot SP and can use the CD efficiently) or searing totem if the mob is going to fly/move away.

Hey!
The OH swing penalty consuming WF in tbc is not an issue, as we use either 2x flame tongue (no ICD) or we use 1x WF and 1x ft.
So your oh will not consume procs.
Flurry-uptime is however stolen by OH crits, but staggering your OH yo avoid stealing flurry stacks is a net DPS loss as you delay oh-hits (possibly maelstrom stacks etc).
So we don't care about synching or staggering in wotlk.
The only situation i can see staggering being a thing is if you have 2x equally fast weps and the fight is somewhat stationary and you are expertise capped from behind the mob (patchwork fight).
Where exactly staggering oh for flurry becomes good/bad, nobody has done the math for so it's feelcrafting.

Hey!
If you are going hybrid/attackpower, your first hit-goal is to be spell-hit capped (so you dont miss shocks/maelstroms). This is the same for spellhancement-playstyle.
After this I would stick to gemming haste even as hybrid/ap untill you have access to t10 gear.
If you have access to arp/attackpower gear from t10 and RS, you will soon have too much crit-rating.
What I mean is that your crit % will be so high, that many of your swings (OH) will be crit-capped because of your low % hit.
So, if you reach crit-cap for your OH, I would gem hit.

hello there, I wanted to ask a few things about shamans:
I tried ALL the dps specs in wotlk, but enhancement is easily the most fun dps, it's hilarious to play
The problem is that it's apparently bottom tier dps in 3.3.5... so that's a bit of a bummer
Now on the upside, apparently, for 1-2 years people have been creating the "spellhancer" build in 3.3.5 which you mentioned in this video...and that's kinda why I searched for a spellhance guide on youtube (thank god for private server theorycrafting) and it seems like it actually does better dmg
So here are my questions:
-If I want to do good damage as an enhancement shaman on warmane fresh or stormforge AND in wow classic should I go spellhancer build? What kind of damage will I do, and does the rotation change?
-Will it work in classic wotlk too, meaning spellhancement will be the way to go and will be competitive dps-wise, or do you think it won't work, and we'll have to use the basic enhancement build (meaning we'll do crappy dmg as, again, I've heard that the basic enhancement build is bottom tier dps)
-is the basic enhancement build that bad in terms of dps compared to all the other specs in the game in wotlk?
I absolutely love enhancement, and its playstyle, it's so much more fun than most of the other dps specs in 3.3.5 but I'd like to be able to deal ok dmg in wotlk, so I just hope that spellhancement will be good both on pservers and classic wotlk.

Hey man! In my video I answer all these questions regarding the differences between spellhance and enhancement, so for your first question I suggest you rewatch the chapters of this video regarding this specific topic.
2. Spellhancement rely on spell-coefficients from patch 3.2 and beyond. So if wrath classic takes its spell-coefficients from patch 3.3.5, then yes spellhance-playstyle will be meta as well.
Normal enhancement is not bottom tier DPS in wotlk by any means, its just subpar to spellhance pre t10.
I share your optimism for enhancement shaman to be rewarding to play, as I also think its very fun to play.
It is however impossible for me to say if the class is going to be X or Y in wotlk classic, I can't predict the future and untill we see WOTLK-classic-beta, its all speculative and I prefer to not discuss such topics!

Hello there! Very decent and informative guide. I like it. :) I went through your spreadsheet and I find one thing which would be good if you fix/expand it. The Flametongue spell power coefficient depends on the weapon's base speed. It is not always 10% (cell E84). Wowwiki assumes that 2.6 sec weapon is used that's why it reports just 10%. The FT damage = 68.5 * Base Weapon Speed + (0.03811 * Base Weapon Speed * SP) which means that the SP coefficient of FT = 0.03811 * Base Weapon Speed. This makes 0.1 or 10% for 2.6s weapon. Since this is a guide that covers spellhance I would suggest you to make a table or something that you can calculate and show the spell power coefficients of FT for all speed based weapons. Cheers! :)
Hey! On private servers, FT DMG is normalized and doesn't scale with weapon speed, same goes for rogues.
I'll update the sheet once beta arrives and we have more reliant data, wowwiki is always a good source to fact check my sheet but i didn't make the sheet for it to serve as an end all be all sheet.
It's a good advice, but i draw the line somewhere. There's always more things you can add to these sheets.

How about using Maelstrom at 4 stack ? is it better than using another ability or not worth at all?
Hey! It's sadly a DPS loss to hardcast because it resets your swing timer even if the cast would be 0,001s.
You want instant casts and let your autos roll meanwhile.

It will be strong if it's 3.3.5 spell coefficients and you are spellhitcapped.
But if you end up critcapped on autos, it's better to stick to normal enhance at prepatch @70.

Hey man when i was playing on whitemane it was so hard to get infos for spellhancer.. I‘m impressed that you can actually play spellhancer before icc with the lack of haste gear. I was wondering why do you rather go for orc than troll? The plus exp. On axe is useless because you take a spellweapon in the mainhand anyway and the haste effect of trolls would benefit the spellhancer also pretty good(fire elemental snapshotting). Hope to hear your opinion:)
Hey dude!
1. Orc is bis due to expertise passive racial and pet dmg, these two things are better than troll haste racial.
You use a fist wep in t7 as your bis.
2. Fire elemental scales with sp and ap, the troll racial snapshotting of fire elemental is worse than snapshotting it with orc.
There's this thing with haste - it's good up untill a certain point.
You want to be gcd-capped on spells (50%) and this is easily achieved during heroism as orc. If you use lust on pull, the extra haste as troll is a dead stat for abilities-per-minutes but it's good for auto attacks. But our goal is high abilities-per-minutes, not high attacks per minute (even though that's also great).
I would rather be spell-gcd capped with orc racial on pull than spell-gcd capped with troll racial.
After lust is done however, you won't be GCD capped for majority of the fight and troll racial could indeed be useful, but overall orc has more utility/scaling.
Check out web.archive.org/web/20100819070051/milamber.ch/spellhastecap.html and play around with how much haste from gear/raid/racials you need to achieve GCD cap for different spells.
Troll is by no means bad, and there are beast-type bosses where the troll racial is indeed bis. In the end, you can probably top parse as both races and i have no math to support my "orc better than troll" theorem, it's just feelcrafting.
But the answer to your question can be answered with math - and I'm sure in time for wrath classic there will be theorycrafters doing just that.
I like to focus on playing the game well, that's my passion, and leave the science to those who like that part.

Without a big benefit (offhand will probably still be a axe/fist i guess) are we sure here that the orc racial is better when we do not utilize it for our mainhand?

I know it will only be viable early gearing, but Im picking up a few ele t6 to use as its stacked hard with Int, Hit, sockets, and sp.
Don't. Trust me heroic and Dungeon gear is gonna dwarf it. Plus, TBC gear won't have the full stats like wrath gear will. Don't gem intellect at all. Get hit capped before anything. If you can't get to it with gear alone, Gem it, enchant it, and grab a elixir and food. You will lose SO MUCH dps it's not even funny. It don't matter how hard you can hit, or how fast, if you can't hit it at all.
@@jambajuice2408 I figured out first week of prepatch that spellhance just didn't hold up to typical gearing. It was a little disappointing, but everyone was saying how it was just because of private server "bugs"/miscalculations.
2-to-5head minmax questions when ive never played enh haHAA
1. does wolves glyph snapshot?
2. if yes hows the ap conversion to dps like?
3. so can i snap prewolves and reswap glyph?
4. thus id lose 10s of first wolves (10/45=22%) but maybe get 30% dps if its 1:1 conversion of ap:dps for a total of +8% dps?
5. above assumes i dont compensate that first uptime loss if the fight duration and wolves/lust cd/durations align (could but havent mathed likelihood)
6. do wolves benefit from getting buffed? summoned prepull they could get raid buffed

Here's my reasoning:
You only use feral spirits GLYPH in t9+ due to wolves scaling becoming better and better as we get more gear.
The 5% crit on LB is static however, so 5% crit is relatively more powerful early on into the expansion than late.
I still think lb glyph is not worth using, even for single target, compared to other glyph options.
No math to back this up because im lazy but simcraft, EnhaSim and my experience all dislike lb glyph.

I would always chose feral spirit because of the self heal+movement speed utility and feral spirit does more damage than additional 5% CRIT with lightning bolt.
So always go feral spirits!
The LB talent always should be worse than feral spirit, even without taking into account the heal/spirit walk it provides. I tested it, in ~3700 gs preraid wolves did roughly 300 dps on dummy. So considering their uptime (45 sec alive, 180 sec cd), they give you something like 75 dps in a fight. But obviously in raid enviroment with BL and stuff this number is much bigger. Here's for comparison what LB glyph gives to you, according to logs:
Lightning bolt contributed 10.4% of total damage on single target boss. In Naxx, you have somewhere around 45% crit chance for lightning bolt. So you would have 50% chance to crit with the talent. If you do simple math (don't forget crit multiplier = 209%), you get that with this amount of crit, average damage done by LB with the 5% talent would increase only by 3.65%. So in my fight lightning bolt done 800 dps, therefore, if i had the 5% talent it would be 829 dps.
Feral spirit = 75 dps, Call of Thunder = 29 dps
So i think it is very clear that Call of Thunder is TOTAL shit talent, because even without any buffs wolves gave more than 2x times more dps.

There's few things making this hard to answer.
1. How much of all your damage is reign procs? 1% or 10%?
2. The raw sp from 2x reign is huge but items like phylactery and dfo are probably better AOE-dps increases than 2x reign. For single target in t10, your physical damage sources will be strong that for single target, use WFS/STS and those sorts.
So my answer is kinda vague I'm afraid.
Would be great to cover the totems (relics) since they are quite unclear for the spellhance

The weapon enchants, for spellhance, should we still go x2 berserking or, 1 berserk, 1 black magic for haste? (t9) spellhance.
I saw another shaman who stacked, T9 400 AP totem + 2 berserking, and did a quite good amount of dps.
Also, your guide shows, non-sp weapon for t9 content, does that means that, in your experience, is it better to go windfury in t9 content?
The moment I put glyph of lightning shield, my lightning shield started vastly overperforming to anything besides flametongue and melee. Is it worth, removing firenova glyph for it? (unless its a cleave fight)
Berserking 2x outperforms the haste of black Magic the entire expansion.
About t9, spell power mh is still better for AOE-intensive fights going into ICC, but for single target WF MH and physical MH is superior.
My advice is to have 2x sets of glyphs so you can alternate WF-glyphs and FT-glyphs depending on fight in ICC.
Lightning shield glyph 20% is only base LS-dmg, it doesn't scale with spell power if scripted correctly, so the glyph is underwhelming in late game but useful on t7 prebis.
LS glyph is far better honestly if you have 2 fast weapons cause lt scales with 100% of your sp so right now mine is hitting 3k wich is insane taking in to acc how fast you attack [Torch of Holy Fire] [Webbed Death] are my weapons of choice atm currently with 12% haste

I'm strongly against tier lists as a way to interpret and approach WOW in general.
It's all about raid-DPS, if you play a support class and you increase the overall raid-damage, you are "S-tier" in my book.

Hi Anfall, fellow enhancement player here. I need clarification on this matter: do you consider earth shock (flame up) higher or lower priority than fire nova (not opener)? As when you talk about priority and flame shock, at some point you say "earth shock if flame shock is up", at 14:48. So that would mean that earth shock is higher priority than stormstrike, magma refresh, fire nova etc, but I'm sure that's not the case and that's not what you meant. SO basically: is earth shock (flame up) higher or lower prio than fire nova?
Also, you say fire nova has a higher priority than magma refresh, but you just can't fire nova if magma totem isn't up, meaning that those 2 are theoretically swapped in priority. Thanks if you'll clarify.
In spellhance earthshock is pretty low prio because its below nova which is most of the time available. In WF build ES becomes better than SS if buff up, nova and lava lash and magma refresh ( not exact order just listed what ES has prio over).

@@Enhanced94 the thing is you have constant gcds to spend and if you cant sync earthshock and it's 6 second cooldown with flameshock (so you can refresh it ASAP) it's better to not use it. THeese are the finer nuances of the spec which you can't just write as black and white and follow. Also yes SS is high on prio even with buff up because of mael procs. Spellhance has no windfury to generate so you need as many stacks as possible+in t7 gear it does reasonable damage with the auto resets.
I don't got this one down to a science, I'm sure some classic math guy will be able to give you a proper answer in wotlk prepatch.
The way i do it:
If shock is available, it should be used asap always.
Flame shock prio over ES.
Fire nova is a better single target DPS increase than ES but not better than flameshock.
So if fire nova and ES is your decision, I'd prioritize fire nova if my mana allows it.
This is how I play it, seems to work for me but I don't think my style is the end all be all.
I focus way more on positioning, uptime, GCD management than doing the best rotation, it's just more fun to me.
So I'm open to changing my priority if math would say so, but here's my feelcrafting explained.
If you use a spell-power main hand, chances are you won't have axes/fist weapons available to you, so why play orc and not troll ? I f you have to cap at 26 exp anyways the massive haste of the troll racial should be much better.
Spellhance wasnt theorized/created on pservers, I mained enhance through all of OG Wrath and I remember it being theorized even back then, and I also played around with it back then as well although it definitely wasnt the main type of enhance played back then and it was still very niche. I still play enhance on retail and probably the best thing about Wrath spellhance is that it actually is fairly similar to retail, so I can wait to play and blast some big parses on wrath as well. I havent played TBC since end of t4 but am obviously going to get back on there in pre patch to get ready for Wrath, would you suggest that I start gearing for spell enhance for leveling, and run spellhance throughout leveling to 80 as well? I remember always leveling with normal enhance on pservers.

You should itemize for spellhance if you believe you will be cleaving/aoe:ing as your main source of total damage done.
If you think you'll be solo questing, 1-2 mobs at a time, then "normal" enhance will faster due to the scaling of the different spells you use given the situation.

Weird that you define enha as a "must" in a raid, mentioning the value of improved WF Totem and then proceed to not even talent it :P
Might wanna try watching the video again. He literally talks about "Improved Icy Talons" fulfilling the role of "Improved WF Totem", and to drop Wrath of Air for the +5% spell haste instead.... Which is a buff only a shaman can provide to your raid.
Although he does mention the usefulness of Enhancing totems, and how it's better then what Horn of Winter provides. So maybe you got the two mixed up? Either way I'd suggest watching again, as WF totem is not even being used.

When in group with a paladin with wisdom judgement, ur good to go, but without him in dungs or solo, ur screwd without mana...

Yes you are right that it might be a proc for a maelstrom, but with 1.6 fist weapon from loatheb 213 ilvl with t7 4set that boosts DMG from your lightning shield - you just wanna be as hasty as possible but because of it, lava lash will deal low DMG since it's a fast weap. Been N1 DPS at patch 25 in whitemane server where patchwerk has more hp than Lich King, crafted nobless and had gloves haste buff from engineering, also, mana problems are not only in dungs but also outdoor farming ... Also when pvp, u often wear shield which makes lava lash even more obsolete so u won't get eaten by armor pen later patches
