    Mike is right about the rebounding in young conservative men. From my circles I am in I see a lot more of them working out and getting fit or the desire to as well as pushing back against hookup culture, porn, and other degeneracy. Also a huge uptick in Christianity. I am hopeful for our generation.

    While I can understand this idea of "I should be able to trust my significant other going out at night". The problem is, why are you going out at night without your significant other? Would your married parents do that? It's not only disrespectful, but clubs and bars ( or anything related ) are a place you go to drink and meet people of the opposite sex.
    This is a can of worms that has no business being opened if you give a shit about the health of your relationship or marriage. Boundaries are the foundation of your commitment, and they must not only be made aware but committed to.

    100% truth on the young men not being mature until later, but it seems young women are trending the same way. It has been incredibly difficult to as a 28 year old man to find someone +/- 2 years of myself that are not incredibly immature in one way or another.
    Examples. Financially irresponsible to the point they are 10s of thousands of dollars in credit card debt, have no self control when drinking, emotionally immature or a general lack of emotional intelligence and how their actions affect those around them.

    • @juanmejiagomez5514
      @juanmejiagomez5514 9 месяцев назад +1

      When I hear these things I think some of it has to do with selection bias. It’s hard for me to believe that most girls in church are immature in terms of impulse control or that they go out and binge drink every weekend, but if you’re looking for a potential partner at bars or clubs then it makes more sense. Obviously culture plays a role in this as well, in very liberal spaces these types of behaviours aren’t really going to be frowned upon, so it definitely isn’t just you

    Glad to see Mike found a wonderful person to share his life with. I think another aspect of marriage that's hard for a lot of men these days is involving the government in it with no fault states and the state itself almost always making men pay out in way higher amounts with divorce. With women initiating around 80% of divorces, it's just not worth having to pay half your retirement, selling the house and paying alimony for years afterward. I feel it's been designed this way to keep people from wanting to get married....

    30:49 100% Agree!
    As someone who allowed porn to take over there life for a large part of my 20s I couldn't agree more with Mike. I'm 28 years old (29 next month) and because I allowed my addiction to rules so much of my life from the age of 14 to 24 I'm almost 29 and have yet to actually be in any kind of significant relationship. I let it tear apart friendships, relationships with family members, and a large chunk of my life. I was the stereotypical work of bullshit part-time job making just enough money to get by so that I could go home watch porn and play cod...
    If there are any young men that can see any of that in themselves reading this right now please do not go down that same path. It does nothing but destroy your fucking life and rebuilding those broken relationships and friendships after the fact isn't fun. No matter how nihilistic you feel about life there is always hope out there. You just have to put in the work to find it.

    • @juanmejiagomez5514
      @juanmejiagomez5514 9 месяцев назад +3

      Hey, how did porn destroy any kind of relationship or friendship? Is it because you wasted so much time that you wouldn’t spend time with anyone or is it something else? I ask because though I’m not addicted to porn, I tend to stay at home quite a bit even when I don’t have to and I find it really hard to ask my friends to hang out. I know it’s not the best thing in the world, but I’m trying to assess the severity to figure out how much effort and time should I be putting into being social compared to other stuff I have going on

    • @nubbyfresh5623
      @nubbyfresh5623 9 месяцев назад

      @@juanmejiagomez5514 a lot of it came down to social isolation and depression. A lot of the depression came from being pissed off at myself for wasting so much time watching porn and it was an endless cycle of the more depressed I got the more I wanted to feel better by watching porn and the more depressed I would get because I'm wasting even more time doing it. Eventually it got to the point where I was just ignoring friends and family. If friends asked me to hang out I would turn them down just saying I had other shit to do when in reality I was just staying home doing nothing. Somehow I had convinced myself that I wasn't sure if my friends actually cared about me as much as I cared about them so I didn't even bother trying to hang out. And eventually they stopped asking me because they knew what the answer was going to be.
      Turns out I was completely fucking wrong LOL but years of digging myself deeper and deeper into that mindset continued to reinforced my issues.
      Hopefully that helps answer your question. Feel free to let me know if it didn't LOL

    • @Thisisausername556
      @Thisisausername556 9 месяцев назад

      @@juanmejiagomez5514There have been several published psychological studies showing the negative effects of porn on the mind and body. Everything from lowered testosterone to lowered baseline dopamine levels, which are often the cause for a lack of motivation and energy to do things both by yourself and with others.
      I’m in basically the exact same position as OP, only I haven’t had a relationship in 6-7 years at this point. None of my college friends live nearby anymore, and I only have a couple potential friends I could make at work currently. And my roommate, who is currently the best friend I have that’s local (and he is a great friend, and also a life coach by trade) doesn’t really have much in common with me in terms of hobbies/activities.
      All of this is to say that close relationships are important, and unless you’re actively building yourself up physically, mentally, and emotionally to a point where you’re confident with yourself, you should be out trying to build those bonds with people. I don’t exactly practice what I preach, but I’m passing on information from people who do.
      I’ve been working on becoming a better person, making money, and trying to start a business which is why I feel like I don’t have time or energy to dedicate to developing these relationships, but every time a look at it, I know that’s just a cope so I can satiate my social anxiety. I’d rather do SERE training for a week (which is NOT a fun time) than go out to a party, concert, or event with lots of people, even if I know getting out there and doing things is both not that hard and also good for me.
      As a side note, I’ve also heard that one of the biggest predictors of life longevity is how many close relationships you have. I keep thinking about that every time I think about my lack of friends to hang out with, and no gf or wife either.
      Food for thought. 👍

    I am very fortunate. My Wife and I have been together since 1985. We dated for several years before getting married.
    For those considering marriage, it's a lot more than physical attraction and love. You need to have the same values. You must both always treat the other with respect. You need a respectful way to make joint decisions. And a respectful way
    to resolve conflicts.
    But is your partner supportive especially when you really need it! You need to establish what your future goals are before you get married. If one of you wants to have children and the other one doesn't that's a deal breaker if you cannot resolve it. You need to be able to figure out your roles and it's great to be able to change roles in times of stress or change. Are you willing to move if your spouse gets a new job? Having the same political values is very important! My wife and I are on the same page. Her identical Twin Sister has an entirely different set of values and political views. I just smile and avoid conflicts with her. I am not going to change her and it's better to get along with family. And the same with some of my family members.

      All of these are excellent points... especially about having religion and politics in lock-step with someone. There was someone where we had a strong intellectual connection and agreed about 99% of the time on certain political topics, but we were antipodes when it came to religion, so it was a dealbreaker. In another case, we both had the exact same religious principles and goals, but we were on the complete opposite side of the political spectrum, which also meant it was a no-go.
      I'm not saying someone should dump someone they're with because one or the other doesn't line-up, but there will be a TON of (un)necessary conflicts spawned from having differing views on those very important topics. It affects how you view medicine, how you view nutrition, how you view voting, how you view relational matters, and everything else in between. If you don't come to an understanding on those topics then there will be constant friction in the relationship.

The man and the woman both giving 100 percent of themselves for the good of the marriage. If you have a "way out", eventually you will take it. You have to be committed to the marriage. Happiness will come and go. Money will come and go. Health will come and go. It's your decision to stay committed is what will get you through to the end.

    Very nice to hear a young couple talk about their experiences of a so far successful marriage. It's awesome that they've gotten as far as they have, 5 years. From my experiences, being married 24 years, having 7 kids with a wife 15 years younger than me...there are challenges that challenge the martial relationship. Many things have to be taken into account from many different fronts. But, the thing that I have experienced is that love bears all things through. Yes, there are mandatory value and moral characteristics that are necessary. As they have said, truth and honesty are paramount. Live the best life you both can live and share everything. It is just so refreshing to see younger people who love each other and work so hard to make it a success.

    I noticed two things above all others: Ashley is glowing - this is a testament to how Mike is treating her and is a visual of how they practice what they are preaching and also gives me hope for the joys of marriage. Secondly, every time Mike starts to talk and then Ashley has something to say, he immediately hands the mic over to her and listens and digests what his wife is saying and lifts her up in agreeing with her and complimenting what she said. Makes me want to be a better listener.
