    I've been a fan of flannel daddy thumb for years now, stand up guy. I know you ladies are new on the youtube scene so congrats to y'all for landing this interview. I roasted you guys pretty tough for your tay swift video but I'll keep the roasting a little light and just speak from my perspective today. I strongly believe you guys have misdiagnosed the culture war in the US. I really believe the algorithms in social media has broken us down into tribes and amplified the culture war x10. The filter bubble is an interesting topic I suggest checking it out. I was was raised Christian, conservative but I now live in an inner city and surround by queer liberal friends and co workers alike. I wouldn't change it for a second. My friends challenge my views, and I challenge their views. We have real conversations about real polices about food security, taxes, city planning, schools, and generally when you boil down all of the name calling, assumptions, we are all humans who want the same thing and can work together. I think you girls probably have good intentions, but no offense, I think you contribute to the culture war just as much as some one on the far left screaming their views into megaphone. I think we SHOULD have these conversations, but when the algorithm gods control WHO get's the message, its just an echo chamber without real debate and compromise. In my view, this is the real problem with the culture war, It leaves us normal Americans in the middle with diverse view points out of the conversation.

    Hearing Mike talking about society really has me smiling, I couldn't agree more about his own thoughts. I've been talking about similar ideals to my own friends and colleagues. Of course some will strongly disagree and they have every right to their own thoughts.
    I strongly agree that women should get out there and train with a firearm for self defense. When I met my first ex gf, we lived together and I taught her how to shoot, she was honestly really scared, but I told her that it's completely normal to be scared, I was myself when my own father taught me but after some time and encouragement, I got comfortable and more confident holding a firearm in self defense. I did the same things for her, when she got more comfortable, I started to slowly introduce stress in the equation and told her when the crap hits the fan, you need to make a split second decision. She hated me at first but after a few lessons I gave her under stress, she understood my reasoning behind it. Now she can defend herself.
    I now live around a college town and a lot of rape and sexual assaults happen. There was a case where the girl, she was 21, she was walking on campus late at night after studying and she got attacked by three giant guys and they unfortunately raped her and beat her half to death. The men did get caught but she ended up in the hospital, traumatized. A few years after that, a similar incident occurred. A guy was stalking her for weeks before she got grabbed on the stairs but she got to her pepper spray that had uv paint in it and her roommate heard what was going on, the guy ran away and the police were called and fortunately the police helicopter spotted him and he got arrested. But it's incidents like these that shouldn't have happened in the first place but unfortunately they did.
    And I couldn't agree with Mike more when he said that women are precious. They're more than just objects of sex for men. We hear that quite a lot today in a lot of popular media. It's even leaked into the church I attend which is unfortunate, it's how they get a young generation interested in religion, but that shouldn't be.
    I could go on forever about all of this but I'm glad that you two got to sit down and discuss these topics that might not be as popular to many.

Surely a compromise is possible.

    • @robertwilson8184
      @robertwilson8184 Год назад

      There is no compromise when it comes to liberty. You have two choices:
      1) Disseminate power (in this case, Arms) to the lowest possible level and risk the evils of man.
      2) Consolidate power to the highest possible level and risk the same.
      If you seek the disarmament of your fellow man, you are not “protecting anything,” except the eventual butchery and enslavement of innocents by a tyrannical government. Democide (death by one’s own government) has resulted in more deaths than any other thing, throughout human history.
      Your cowardly unwillingness to step up and protect those around you, to the potential risk of your own life, is not a virtue. Quit trying to disguise it as such.

      @@robertwilson8184 @robertwilson8184 that's like saying that if you eat a piece of cake you'll die of diabetes 100%. You forget that for the "government" to "oppress" anybody, someone must do the oppressing, and that someone is a human being as much as you that knows the law and has a gun to defend it. Those who pass the appropriate psycho tests and training can own guns. Those who don't should not. They can still shoot at the range and the range has the guns for the armed revolts you so deem essential. Btw main cause of death is "democide" is factually incredibly wrong. Main causes historically are illnesses as an undefeatable first position and wars.

    People that have different points of view on lgbt or abortion ALSO value life and have morals. Just because they don't match your own personal choices doesn't mean that they don't value life or have morals. They are just different values. You may not like their values but to act like you have values while others don't is putting yourself as superior when in reality it is just a different perspective. You don't want the trans community pushing their views on you so ask yourself, is it ok for you to push your views (or values) on them?? Live and let live!

    • @bobcharles7933
      @bobcharles7933 Год назад +4

      Your argument would mean that every claimed 'value' is equal. That simply isn't true. Should we just accept that some people would legalize marriage to say, 7 year olds? Just live and let live, eh? That isn't a valid standpoint. The correct standpoint is the no harm principle, and if someone is doing harm that someone's values are simply nonsense.

    • @ccardwell6112
      @ccardwell6112 Год назад +3

      @@bobcharles7933 I didn't say or imply that all values are equal. I simply pointed out that the guest and hosts were wrong to say that people who didn't align with their morals had no morals or values - the values they had were just different ones. They should respect other people's lives and respect that there are other points of view about what people value. // I agree to a certain extent with your point about doing no harm if it is tangible actual direct harm as in your marriage situation. But all to often people let their personal values impact others in ways that they may not understand, know about, or care to respect. They write laws and policies that fit entirely into their own world view but show no flexibility or consideration for others. One aspect of freedom means putting up with some things that we don't agree with or might "harm" others.

And now almost 900 years old it became a country with almost no patriotism, no sense of "I need to fight to keep my rights and freedoms". I fear that the US might be the same, because it's a young country, it still has it's fighting spirit, but with time it might have the same fate. Be aware, let us be a mirror of your future.

    • @HypnoticChronic1
      @HypnoticChronic1 Год назад +2

      Ask yourself for a moment if you will who operates those armor, aircraft or small arms? In case you can't figure it out its not the suits in DC that comprise our government, its regular people from the sticks of Idaho to the urban New Yorker and everybody in between.
      And if our previous civil war (and other nations civil wars) has taught us anything, its that a solid portion of the military will side with the rebels, if they feel the cause is just and believe me there are very few people in this nation that are happy and or pleased with our government and its far less now than there ever has been since likely that very same civil war.
      Also as per the wording of the Second Amendment "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." note how it does not specify nor dictate at all what kind of arms one can posses or how many, so legally speaking we can own anything from a .22 to a warship (and yes Americans have previously owned warships before), to drive that point home further I have neighbor who owns four different models of tanks and they are fully functional from the cannon down to the treads, you'd be surprised how many of us own military surplus across the nation.
      Also I am not sure you know history very well otherwise you'd rethink this statement a bit "like you have the right to go against your government with your tiny ar, against planes tanks and automatic 20,30 mm, like good look there bud." In the past 50 years guys with AR's in rather in their case AK's have done pretty well against our government with all its "against planes tanks and automatic 20,30 mm", but in case your history is not up to par that would be Vietnam and Afghanistan I am referencing and they did quite well against other foreign powers other than us as well such as China in the case of the former and the Russians (USSR) in the case of the latter.
      Insurgencies and civil wars are notoriously hard to fight, especially if you are fighting them on your own soil and against your own people and more often than not the government in place is typically on the loosing side of those engagements historically speaking.
      A word of friendly advice from a American to a foreigner, its probably best not to speak with any authority on topics you don't fully comprehend, but if you have a good counter argument feel free to say it.

      @@Toyohisa_R This argument that the second amendment is outdated is so stupid, lol. It wouldn't matter if the constitution was written 500 years ago, and all they had at the time were swords and shields. The idea is that the citizens should have an equal means to defend themselves against a tyrannical government, so if anything guns have already been restricted too much in the United States (to an unconstitutional degree). At the time the constitution was written, weapons like the musket were top tier technology. If they would have been fighting with AR-15's and tanks then they'd have no doubt supported the citizens rights to own them. It's not about whatever weapon happened to be modern, in fact specific weapons have absolutely nothing to do with it.
      Would life be better without guns? Maybe, or maybe everyone would just be killing each other with sharpened metal like they used to. The fact is guns do exist, so your point is moot.

      The Civil Overmatch argument has to be the worst argument of all time. From a theoretical perspective, no government would want to annihilate its own citizens , because they wouldn’t be left with anyone to govern. From a practical perspective, the strongest military on earth (US armed forces) only recently conceited to a bunch of cave dwelling farmers in flip flops with Soviet hardware

    The assault weapon ban banned almost nothing. People who didn’t live through it seem to think it was an actual ban on AR 15 type rifles. It just banned rifles with flash hiders, some stock types, and new high capacity magazines. I bought an AR (Bushmaster) during the “Assault Weapons Ban.” None of these modifications made the rifles less lethal, except maybe the capacity limit. But any skilled shooter can reload incredibly fast.

    Watch the YT delete this asap:
    Nothing about the current political situation we are currently experiencing in the west will ever make sense to you unless you first understand that you live under occupation and are thus subject to the rules of the occupiers. If you do not start from there, you will search for multiple explanations and rationalizations for your society's misery and shortcomings that will ultimately lead you nowhere.The thing is, your enemy has no interest in a so-called "victory" over you, because they already won - long ago, before most of you were even born. Now, the entirety of their actions is aimed at a single goal - humiliation. Humiliation robs you of your humanity, your will, your reason to fight on. Humiliation takes everything from you, and it even robs you of being worthy of empathy. It has been used by every occupier in history, and it's our natural primal understanding of defeat. The Ottoman practice of Kopek is a prime example, similar to the concept of "Drag Kids" in modern America. Kticeks were a combination of dancers, clowns and prostitutes; they were young non-Muslim boys taken from their parents and trained to be willful sexual objects and entertainers for the Ottoman Turks. The goal was to have the occupied think "if we allow that to be done to our boys, what else can they do?" The answer is "anything". It is full-spectrum domination of the minds of the conquered.Your enemy doesn't want gay pride parades in your street, drag queens in your libraries, your son's penis mutilated and drip-fed estrogen from birth, your parents dead from opioids and cancer, your daughter race mixing, your meat replaced with bugs, all while your media laughs at you because they think it's for anyone's benefit. They want it because they know you don't want it, but can't stop them. They want to humiliate you. There isn't any other reason. And that's exactly what they are doing.

    Ive come to realize that we have lost most of our freedoms. LEO's can come to the wrong house and shoot your family member or animal and be completely in the wrong, but if you rightfully defend yourself, you are still wrong. And if you fight a wrong in court and win, the expenses and damage to your reputation is still on you, even though you did nothing wrong. There is no incentive for the government to do its due diligence and actually make sure that it is in the right, rather than just hand out its form of justice on a whim.

    Touching on the comment Mike made about men losing their aggression. I think Christians have so long lived in peace that they have been reduced to thinking Jesus was a pacifist. Our very gospel teaches that God is not a pacifist. He can not just allow sin to go unpunished and let the guilty go free without blood payment. He achieved both justice and mercy in the most violent display possible. When you look at the broken, bleeding, ripped open body of the Son of God on the cross, you see how God feels about evil. That is how we must all feel about evil. Both His rod and His staff comforts us. The rod for justice, the staff for mercy.

    First things first, this is a great interview and discussion. A few thoughts I’m writing as I listen.
    If you use the standard FBI definition of “mass shooting” …. 4, or more, people killed, and not including the shooter, in a fluid situation ….. less than 100 people per year in the US are killed in mass shootings. However, the Gun Violence Archive created a new definition, that is used routinely by the media and politicians now, is 4 people shot, including the shooter, whether fatal or not. THis is why you see the screaming news media reports of hundreds of mass shootings. THey are finally reporting on all the gangland violence, but construing it as “mass shootings”.
    You know what’s worse than politicians writing legislation about things they don’t know about? Bureaucrats in the federal government writing regulations without oversight by the Congress.
    The point of the original Constitution is to define the narrowly limited powers of the Federal government. The Bill of Rights was added shortly after the Constitution was ratified in order to define what the government could not do and what rights are protected by the Constitution. The Bill of Rights basically defines what it means to be a free citizen. You have to hold the line on all of it, no compromise.
    I have a lot more thoughts, but I’ll leave it here for now. Great channel. Subscribed.

    3:06 Crime was trending downward _before_ the assault weapons ban, and the big 1994 awb had no measurable effect on that trend. Crime overall continued to decline until we got to, I believe, 2021, when we had a _massive_ spike up from that, crime has been worse than it has ever been in that spike, and we're _down_ again according to the numbers in 2022, _from_ 2021. We're _still_ experiencing incredibly high crime rates compared to where we were at just a few short years ago.

People in northeast are wearing flannel because it's cold and damp up there. There's nothing wrong with flannel.
