Great set. Not sure what the audience was watching. Laughed my butt off.
Absolutely terrible crowd, she is fantastic!
The Dad joke got me. Like I stopped breathing for a few seconds. I had noticed how super happy she looked when she first said, 'My Dad's here tonight', and it seemed so genuine and I was happy for her. Then, come to find out, he's dead. Oof. It cut me a little bit. But in a great way. Edgy.
It was quite refreshing, I have followed her over years, and she always have quite left field jokes to tell, even quite dark ones 😅
The crowd is 15 years behind looking for a Dane Cook set. Erica's set was funny, but this was a crowd that needs a laugh track to know when a joke is over.
the jokes didnt call for any roaring laughter
This is the same old comment which is always commented under TV Stand Up Comedy sets. I think it is enough. We get it! The thing is these people are not (maybe someone is) comedy fans per se. And also the setting is weird to laugh out loud, cause it is televised.
Great Dead Dad Joke
It killed me! And now I will always be with her!
Ooh im excited
Cathartic!
That was laaaame. She doesnt have any good comedy bits.
@@justheretocomment6410 you dont have any good comedy bits 😆
Love it even if the studio audience didnt. Please have more stand ups on your show steve!
Nice giving a platform for upcoming Stand Up comedians and artists - Kudos to the next generation of talent 👏👏
Lmao
She has been a well-known comic for years.
When the dad part started, i laughed. Dark, unexpected, interesting. Thats the way. Good job.
I love her just saw her agt audition and now searching for her work. She’s brilliant.
My kid says that to me when I've lost something and call myself dumb. "We don't talk to ourselves like that"😂 Thanks for caring babes
Both my kid and my dad call me things like dumbass all the time, but I know they’re mostly joking and love me lots, so it’s okay. I call them things like doofus and shitbird right back. My mom never says stuff like that, but instead finds other ways to say it, like by never believing I can accomplish anything, questioning all my decisions, stepping in aggressively to take over what I’m doing because I’m not doing it the way she thinks I should, and so many other, often subtle, ways of showing her lack of enthusiasm for who I am. It would be great if we could call each other dumbass the way I can with my dad and kid. We just skip right over it into real insults when we’re upset at each other.
She’s pretty,
She’s cute
No politics
And no dirty stuff.
And funny.
LOVE THIS SET! great job Erika! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thank you sweet Emma! ❤
So good. The first part we weren't quite sure what her style was even though it was great. Then she hit us with the first dad joke, and we knew it right away if we were her target audience.
Well done! Tough material which I'm sure has a bit of self=therapy tied in. Made me laugh - thank you.
maria bamford found the fountain of youth? i lost 3 ships and 75 good men searching for it in the Malacca Straits!
Definitely her long lost younger twin sister.
I came to comments looking if anyone else noticed
@@lostandwastedtime same lol
I'm going to tell my kids this is Melissa villasenor.
Proof that the Colbert show is filmed next to a time portal and an earlier Bamford wandered through
Ok those were some great jokes that I think took the audience by surprise .. people just have zero sense of humor around death and dying even tho it happens to every single one of us .🤷🏼♀️Rachael Bradley has a great podcast about death and humor .. we should talk about it more
That was so profound and so hilarious at the same time, just amazing
Hospice chaplain here and that whole part about dad was fantastic, very well done
She was fantastic in her AGT audition!!
So it evens out in the end. Way to end on a banger hahah
Um what does this mean sweaty? Who is going to burn in hell?
Light and heart warming humor is the best humor. Love you lots Erica.
She has a very sweet voice. I can listen to her all day long.
I have been a fan of Kevin Hart’s since 40 Year Old Virgin. He always came across then in interviews as a down to earth person who just carried on and was a part of being funny like the other comedians. But I am here watching him and noticed an attitude change. I don’t know maybe it’s me but he acts and looks - those sunglasses - really? - where is the Kevin we know? It is like he (in his mind). Started acting like those actors who think they are now on the super star plateau. I don’t see the down to earth comedian who related with the everyday person. Now he’s beyond that and started to look and act like those stars whose head has just ballooned. When would the ‘old’ Kevin Hart walk out covering his eyes in dark sunglasses and dressed so formally? Never saw it before but now he is like: Man I’m a star okay? A major star and now I am at a level beyond any of you. It has gone to his head in a way I am not liking at all.
The audience reaction to her dead dad was priceless.
Today actually would have been my Dads birthday 😅😂 this is a good set!🙏🙌👍
Great writing. Hilarious comic. 🎉
Way to cram for the final, Dad!
I saw her on agt. She was so natural.i hope she wins this season 19e5.
😂😂😂 I love her😂😂😂😂 👏👏👏
Oh man that dad joke is great
Erica Rhodes, great comedian.
Brilliant, smart comedy. Great job.
Good set, not the best crowd
Great set. Thanks for introducing me to her comedy
your late father sounded like a real funny guy. similar vibe with my dad, but he was atheist and passed away from NASH after cancer treatment for his liver cancer. last two years or so of his life, he got himself a tombstone chalkboard to write out daily tasks for himself, and his favorite song to sum up his entire life was "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life."
because bow-howdy, how else can you have lived that long considering the US histories being made one has witnessed since Watergate X3
Amazing to see her on late night. I think about her headboard joke all the time.
Man, I've always loved Erica. She'll always be Lady years old to me.
omg, the generation of life coaches & coaching from the car bit?! kills. thanks for the insight & laughs.
😹😹😹😹😹 5/5
I think she did a fantastic job 😊
Is she Maria Bamford's daughter?
Within the first 30 seconds I thought the exact same thing! A younger maria bamford 😂💙
Looking forward to more of her, this was pretty great 😂
Awful crowd - I’d love her to come to the UK!! Self deprication is our jaaaam!!
There’s no humor anymore smart people in this Generation are all soft go watch Don Rickles & carson
OMG That SELF HELP LOSER bit was HILARIOUS! I almost spit out my drink that I was drinking! LOLOLOL SO FUNNY!
I like her. She may not be for everyone but you have to understand when new comedians come on a talk show a lot of their material they're they're trying for the first time. Stand-up comedy is not an easy task and you got to give her props for baring her soul like that in front of all those people. I would like to have seen her bare a little bit more but this is a family show 😎 it's a joke it's just a joke !!!!!
OK. Great. I thought it might just be on my download, the subtitles were hard coded into it. Please turn on the captions for the part where she tells how her dad died. It was M.S. not A Mess. Kinda funny but I'm twisted. She's hilarious 😂 😂😂
Erica's albums rule. Ladybug especially. Absolutely killed.
Hey she’s on TV. Met her mother once who showed me her standup and I love it.
Been following her comedy for years. It's great to see her getting the recognition she deserves!
Loll the religion evens out in the ene
lame audience, she's great
Uh.. other way around. She sucks
Possibly the other way round? If the audience doesn't find you funny, there's probably some truth in that. I'm with the audience on that reaction.
i got the MS too it sucks
Same here! Hearing that her dad died from MS doesn't help much
Bamford vibes. Very funny.
She looks and sounds like a Maria Bamford character 😂
And that’s why I don’t like her. She IS the joke of a better comic.
ERICA RULES!!! ❤
🤣😂😹
I have never heard anyone else talk about how everybody is coaching from their car as they drive. So nice to discover somebody do you think is hilarious 🫶😏
Erica is super funny and equally cute -- give this lady a show!
I am a "huge" Erica Rhodes fan! I wouldn't say this was her best performance. It moved a little slow. A few funny jokes. Watched alot of her other stand up and she is FUNNY!!! Anybody can have an off night.
Caption says “Gen X comedian”? She’s a Millennial, she says it in the video.
I'm more confused by the word _comedian_ being in the description.
@@juliansmith4295 "juliansmith"? Does this mean that you make julian?

EDIT: Ah, sorry. I didn't pick up on the dad joke straight away.
Her Maria Bamford impression is on point
Good show.
The closing joke was the best, you convinced me to skip it and do what your dad did - it’s how to beat Pascal’s wager
Hallelujah 🙌🏻!!!!! The daily jesus devotional has been a huge part of my transformation, God is good 🙌🏻🙌🏻. I was owing a loan of $49,000 to the bank for my son's brain surgery, Now I'm no longer in debt after I invested $11,000 and got my payout of $290,500 every month…God bless Mrs Susan Jane Christy ❤️
Hello!! how do you make such monthly, I’m a born Christian and sometimes I feel so down of myself 😭 because of low finance but I still believe God
She's a licensed broker here in the states🇺🇸 and finance advisor.
After I raised up to 525k trading with her I bought a new House and a car here in the states🇺🇸🇺🇸 also paid for my son's surgery….Glory to God, shalom.
Can I also do it??? My life is facing lots of challenges lately
I've always wanted to be involved for a long time but the volatility in the price has been very confusing to me. Although I have watched a lot of RUclips videos about it but I still find it hard to understand
She is great. Listen to her on Adam Carolla Show.....
She sounds just like Bernadette on Big Bang Theory
😂😂😂 Erica is so funny!
Shes so funny haha
YIKES! That dead dad joke landed with a thud... wow.
I saw her perform in a very small venue last year in my city downtown, she was absolutely hilarous. This Colbert performance was a bit of a flop
Wowwow the dad joke got me good.
These days, the cars they make videos from are also their residences, which is convenient...
Surprising good.
Why isn't Colbert uploading his show anymore? I live outside the country and rely on this show every morning for entertainment and news. Please add continue to add your shows to RUclips. thank you
You can watch it free on the network site.
That the audience isn't laughing a bit harder, kind of makes her points.....Pretty good make-you-think-comedy !
She is just a character not that funny tbh
the tight close ups of the audience "laughing" are way too close and awkward.
#dadedits
Liked the dark, left-field jokes, I just wish we could forget the "mock the youths of Generation N-1 for being lazy/entitled" schtick.
That's Boomer humor and you'd think that millennials that were the butt of those jokes for a decade would not impose the same BS on the next generation.
But material is material - if it works on stage you gotta give the crowd what they want.
She is so right about TikTok car dwellers preaching to us to become billionaires....
👋🏾🤣 That dad joke was especial millennia!
Erica is on her way to becoming one of the most famous comedians. Wholesome and authentic
OMG...that voice ! 😙

This was hilarious. Thank you for sharing your take on life with humor!
She has a unique voice.
First time I clicked on this video I only listened. 2nd time I watched
I'm glad someone else does the dead dad jokes; someone has to carry on the torch.
Whoever booked her was correct. This is what can happen when you don't get that belly-laughing old guy to laugh at everything..
(RIP her dad, AKA old belly laugh guy TLSC used to employ by the overvoltage TENS unit in his chair)
Lol I feel ya, comic.
This girl deserved more laughs!
I get that it's disorienting, but it's ok to laugh at her dead dad jokes, guys. I pinky-promise that it won't make his passing either any easier or harder for her to carry with her.
Great👏👏
tiktokers life coaching in their parents' cars LOL #getalife
I suspect self deprecation got more rare as people felt less and less secure since, oh, about the fall of 2015? When society suddenly got a lot more mean spirited and embattled before getting hit with a pandemic that lead to widespread isolation. People still do self deprecation comedy, Deadpool is rife with it and everyone seems to love this Deadpool fellow (how many R rated family movies can you honestly name?)! The key here is that to be self deprecation you have to be very secure, because there are a lot of a-holes out there that trump has emboldened, and giving them fuel can be dangerous.
Pretty sure the next generation is kicking my (and your) generations' collective ass? And from a wildly worse position, where they aren't even starting out with the expectation of owning even a small house out in the sticks, and with certainty that the climate is officially going batshit because of the unrestrained greed of the previous ~10-15 generations. Those 'great' people sacrificed nature's bounty (and gambled on humanity's future) so we could make over-crowded, reeking cities filled with poorly fed people who were being worked harder than serfs were, and with similar life expectancies, only serfs expected risks like almost constant war. These poor souls looked forward to such a prospect to escape their hellish factories, factories built to enrich the few off the backs of the many. Calling the building of those factories progress is objectively insane, because society did not benefit from them being built, and still doesn't benefit from industry, *the shareholders do*. So yeah, those previous 10-15 generations very much had it wrong by any metric you can think of. Oh yeah, and they fed those factories with the raw materials being produced by colonies, many of which used slavery, then forced labor, to produce vast quantities of them which were then simply sent back to the 'parent' country, meaning the colony were obviously given nothing in return but the tools to produce more of the desired raw material. Guess why the colonies where this was done are almost all broke AF still?? Anyways, the young need to be confident if they're going to make the progress we need happen (I really don't see my generation doing it, but I'd love to be surprised I guess?).
That's not meant to be harsh, just pointing out that progress is a thing and that people going through life with confidence are more likely to meet with success than the alternative. I'm sure these young will get tired too eventually, but hopefully they'll have made some, well, progress for the world.
But why? Can you write another 3 paragraphs to explain?
Only the privilleged would say 'things started to go wrong in 2015'
@@Tao_Tology wow reading is hard huh? I was explicitly referring to the context of self-deprecating comedy, but hey, go ahead and lie mr. botman! Ignore the MUCH LONGER paragraph that makes it painfully clear I know more about this topic than you (just like when you tried to incoherently argue that 'the bots are gonna steal our JORBS!!', including trying to argue any day now that SOFTWARE was gonna do manual labor). I'd say touch grass but you clearly need education.
Also, lightweight, I've trolled people since the 90s online, misattributing things to me is bottom dweller BS.
@@mightyone3737 Honey.......you need to get offline for -a while- _a looonng while_ .
@@Tao_Tology I split 2 cord of green wood a couple weeks back, finally got around to stacking it. The spitting was Armstrong method, not mechanical, and using an ax I welded up from raw materials (and a handle I carved out of raw wood), and it took about 8 hours. I spend most of my time gardening and cooking, and I make my own wine, often using berries I grew. How many cord of wood have you split btw? Maybe you did some trenches with a pick-ax? Ever cut down a thick tree and made sections weighing hundreds of pounds and carried them over broken forest ground? Honestly curious my guy, do you really think you're more tan than I am??
She's great! But, damn... this audience is garbage.
Great jokes specially when the audience got uncomfortable, those were better. 😂😂
Agreed!
I'm gen x. We weren't taught.
Self-deprecation? Praying against yourself? Makes no sense. Self-depreciation may be what you meant.
that got a little dark 😶
She's good.
He was #1
Description is mistaken, she is not a Gen-X comedian.
Lol, true! She was talking about millenials v Gen Z and they messed up BOTH of them. Shows how much effort they put in
You could drop the 'gen-x' and the 'comedian' bit as well.
One day you'll get past that 'generation label' schtick.
I lost my dad. I don't think I could ever joke about it.
