Yes, I’m red/green colorblind and I haven’t tried them. I’m a female and sewing is a hobby I enjoy. I’ve often wondered how those glasses would help me. Maybe one day, God willing, I’ll get to see what everyone else is seeing.

I’m colorblind. Just got truly diagnosed 2 days ago. I have Mild Deuteranomalia. I was talking to my optometrist and he owns his own glasses store. I mentioned them to him and he is now interested in stocking them. Never really trusted the online tests.

I’m 72 Yrs old and I was truly diagnosed at 20 years of age when I was trying to qualify for a job with General Electric. I had noticed while traveling, my Mom would comment on the pretty red peppers in the fields and also the trees full of red apples. I would turn all the way around in the back seat looking for what she saw and was puzzled as to why I couldn’t see it. She actually carried the same gene as my Dad’s red/green color blindness. That’s all I ever was told the name of the problem was back then. I may never get to try on a pair of the glasses but it sure does sound like a treat! I had heard that not all people with color blindness would be helped with the glasses so I assumed I was one of the unfortunate ones and never got my hopes up. But since watching this video I’m excited about the prospects of seeing what most other people see. However, as you know we see colors, but some are camouflaged and we have problems with the different shades of some colors. It makes me unsure of what I think I see sometimes, especially when buying clothes or trying to match fabrics with thread etc. Regardless of if I do get to try the glasses on or not, I’m grateful I can see and also that I can see most of the beautiful colors in our world that God blessed us with. I hope you can get the glasses and have fun with all you see.🌻

Cataract surgery is a procedure to remove the lens of your eye and, in most cases, replace it with an artificial lens. Normally, the lens of your eye is clear. A cataract causes the lens to become cloudy, which eventually affects your vision.

My thoughts as an optician of over 2 decades. First, they are not safety lenses. Safety rating depends on several factors. Second, I'm really disappointed that you would present a paid promotion as an honest product review, especially for a company that has marketing practices that are questionable at best. I've always thought of your channel as a reliable source of information and if I'm being honest these kinds of shenanigans undermine your brand.

@@pogmonke5217 That is not physically possible - color blindness is not curable without surgery, and a pair of color filters can not make you start magically see or distinguish colors that your eyes are not capable of processing.
It (may) only, in some cases, help see a difference between 2 colors that you couldnt before, but at the cost of a lot of other colors blending even worse. They do *not cure* color blindness and do not make you see new colors.
In no way they make you see the original colors, not even close, and them trying to make it sound like that is a total scam to me and is just a plain and shameless rip-off of color blind people, and should not be taken seriously.
In the very least, if not a scam, they are a blatant false advertising.
All of the "reaction videos" have been proven to be 100% fake. I'm not kidding, look it up. Some of them have blatant proof of being faked (Especially the ones with the kid and balloons - the kid is literally reading the wrong colors that are written on the balloon, among other signs of it being fake. May influencers sponsored by Enchroma that faked their reaction (like Logan) have later admitted to it being faked and stated that there is actually no difference.)
In most cases, those glasses make your color vision a lot worse, as it's just a pink filter, making colors look way too red, and with that a lot of colors blend even for not color blind people.
It's just physically not possible for a plastic filter to make you see colors, when your brain/eye can not process them itself. That simply does not work.
Note that this video is sponsored by Enchroma.

I've known I'm color blind most of my life. Took many tests showing this, including the one on the Enchroma website to determine type, what you need, etc. I was willing the pay the $ for the Enchroma glasses. Shipping was really fast and I was really excited that I'd be able to see a real difference in colors. HIGHLY disappointed. No appreciable difference in reds/greens except that it looks like I'm seeing them through dark glasses. Blues and purples were completely washed out - very, very pale compared to when I don't even have these Enchroma glasses on. I'm returning these. Maybe they work for some people, but they certainly didn't work at all for me - I see colors better with them off!

I have Strong Protan Colourblindness. I have considered these as I used to have filtered glasses about 25 years ago with little to no result so interested in seeing how the technology has come on.
However the reason I won’t buy these are the following.
    1. Within Red - Green colourblindness there are varies types and degrees of colour deficiency so the chances of working well for mine is unknown. (Great there are 60 days return option)
    2. I live in the UK. I don’t need sunglasses. We don’t get Sun. Standard glasses without prescription would be the option I would like but then there is the issue of the filter.
    3. The ads irritate the hell out of me. People don’t suddenly see colour. This reaction of ‘I can see!’ Is bothersome. We can see colour it’s just washed out and difficult to distinguish. It feels like ads made by people without colour deficiency dramatised for other people without colour blindness. I know there’s a difference between the two wordings and funny that it’s the inaccurate one that is used as the norm. 🤣

I have a red-green color deficiency. If I'm close enough, I can see the difference between red and green. If there is a red roof in the distance, I can make myself believe it is either red or green. If I look at the same roof through binoculars from the same location, I can easily tell it is red. If I go through the typical dot pattern color tests, the red-green deficiency is revealed. Additionally, I've always found it impossible to put a name to many pastel colors. The enchroma glasses might be worth it for me to check out.

I am protan, red green colorblind and I am an artist. I have been tempted for years to get the indoor set so I can use color in my art. My work is monochromatic because of my eyes but I long for so much more. I was gifted an outdoor set a few years ago. They make the world look very vibrant, like a pixar movie. But I am not completely convinced they "correct" my sight or if they just enhance it. It gives things red hues that I don't think should have them (such as the sky during the day) or things that I know are white are pink with my glasses on (like snow). And, to my disappoint, I still cannot pass the colorblind test with them on. I am curious if anyone has tried the indoor set compared to the outdoor version they offer.

well there are different types of colorblindness and of course it doesn't work for everyone due to a variety of factors, but im sure everyone is sorry that they didn't work for you. Some things i hear you can try. This is if you have red/green of course and not other types. Adjust the distance the lenses are from your eyes, see if there is a different distance that something shows up. Your cones/receptors might not register the changes in light at the small distance the glasses are from your eyes and maybe they need to be slightly further away or closer for that narrow vision to occur.

I’m a carrier of the colourblind gene and my 4 year old son has 50:50 chance of being colourblind. I noticed over the past few months that he’s occasionally mistaking greens, oranges, browns and red (which my colourblind Dad also gets muddled up), but with his age it could just be slip-ups with names of colours rather than seeing the colours differently. He’s extremely good with numbers though, so I thought I’d try and get him to do a colourblind test and he was getting some of the numbers wrong or saying he couldn’t see a number… again it could be his age, but after seeing your comment I’m wondering about “playing the number game” again but adding filters on the ones he gets wrong or can’t see a number

Hi again! I received my EnChroma glasses!
I have great news! My world has changed. I have seen things I have never seen before.
A couple examples are I grow chillis and I can never tell when they are ripe, I can now see the change from green to orange to red!
I have bushes out the front that have red in the leaves, I always thought they were dull green bushes!
My house bricks are red not brown!😂
Reds are amazing, what I thought was a light brown is actually bright orange!
I have purple flowers in another shrub, purple is actually so different to blue😂 I can now see that.
Even the traffic lights are different, I always thought the red and orange ones were the same colour and the green is bright green not almost white!
I also saw a sun rise for the first time. Absolutely stunning! Words can’t describe it, but it wasnt blue and grey with a touch of yellow as I’ve always seen it 😂. I recommend these for anyone with colour blindness. I have post a few pics of what I can see now that I couldn’t before on my instagram @bhutburnz with a small description. Of what I used to see. I’m just amazed!

@@bhutburnz779 so when you look at a white wall it doesn't have a pink tint on it? Sorry to be triple checking here it's just that my father and my son are both colour blind and we did the Pilestone glasses and they could pass the colour blind tests as normal with the glasses on and came out as strong Duetan with them off but they returned them because it gave everything a red tint so it was like weird funhouse glasses...so I don't want to pay double for Enchroma if it's the same thing.

Sadie B I don’t see a pink tinge looking at a white wall. But also these glasses don’t allow you to pass a colour blind test, these have allowed me to see reds and oranges amazingly when I used to see them as brown. I also was hesitant getting these glasses and did the colorblind test on their website at least a hundred times to make sure I was getting the right glasses. I am doing some research about these glasses. I looked up some articles as well as watched a lot of videos. After hunting for some DOIs and then jumping to sci-hub, it seems that researchers are fairly sceptical about these glasses. However, when I see people trying a pair of these I am really on a fence. I am getting fairly interested in fluorescent microscopy as well as just plain ol' painting with brush and oil paints, so being able to see colours would be heavenly.

Green against grey like a paved surface with grass growing from the cracks makes the green grass pop like nothing I've seen before.. it made me come to the conclusion that everything looks more green usually through my eyes so green is washed out

In 2022 I will be thru hiking the entire 2200 miles of the Appalachian Trail. When I drive my indoor glasses aren't dark enough. Since I will be in the woods a lot I am considering just bringing my indoors, or do you think I should get the darker "outdoor" glasses, too? I am on the fence obviously because spending 400 more dollars will be hard between getting all my gear and saving up to be out of work to hike for 6 months. I use the indoor ones when I hike now and find myself squinting a bunch at peaks and water sources. I suppose I just want someone to guide my decision. Thanks (:

Okay, so I either have deuteranomaly or protanomaly. Online tests all mostly consistently say I'm a mild deutan, however, I don't know for sure, and in terms of actual diagnosis, my eye doctor says I'm red/green color deficient (after I was tested recently) however, my insurance doesn't wanna pay for me to see a color vision specialist that'd be able to give me a more specific diagnosis, so sadly, I won't quite be able to know specifically what kind of enchroma glasses to try out, see if they do much or not.
Funny story: I found out I'm mildly red/green color blind because I found out Larry Koopa is severely red/green color blind, so that peaked my interest in color blindness and I just took a color blind test for the fun of it online (enchroma actually), then it claimed I was a mild deutan which I was skeptical about, so I took the test at my eye doctor and I am, in fact, red/green deficient.

Words can’t describe it, but it was blue and grey with a touch of yellow as I’ve always seen it 😂. I recommend these for anyone with colour blindness. I have post a few pics of what I can see now that I couldn’t before on my instagram @bhutburnz with a small description. Of what I used to see. If your husband saw ANY difference in the video,he will definitely see it with the glasses! Being colorblind, and seeing with the glasses is not the same as cranking up the color on a monitor. Get the glasses for your husband! Blow up the balloons, and be ready for a freak out! If he wears glasses for refraction, the ones offered by Enchroma (with prescription) are of the highest quality, especially if he needs progressive lenses.

I'm a "strong deuteran" (as my optometrist put it).. I heard about enchroma back when they were just a couple of guys working out of a lab in Berkeley. Back then only a handful of clinics offered their lenses (and only one in Canada). They didn't even have an online presence yet!
Being colourblind has definitely hindered aspects of my life.. ie: being a cop, being a pilot etc.. but in other respects, I have learned to adapt. I do sound and lighting at a nightclub on the weekends (as a part time gig) and tbh the lighting console was a challenge to learn. but now I'm pretty good at creating a siiiick light show (even if I can't see half the colours! haha)
the only thing still haven't been able to overcome is wiring for electronics. .. that's also a hobby of mine.. and identifying red wires from green wires is impossible on my own. but there is an app that helps me with that. I'm still hopeful to one day give the enchroma lenses a try. I heard a rumour that there was finally an optometrist in Toronto that had enchroma lenses for people to try first... even though the company has a great return policy, being across the border meant there would be a substantial (non-refundable) customs charge just to get them to try on. would have sucked if they ended up not even working for me 🤷‍♂️

Did not work for me at all. It changed colors, sure. Some colors were more vibrant, sure. But on an A/B I was actually able to distinguish less colores with the glasses on than without them. In fact I started to see colors that were not (like white lights with a pink tint). I discovered that colorblind people tend to have better contrast sensitivity (because of the lack of color sensitivity) and the glasses were messing with that. I really wanted them to work and have that "new world" experience but it was a bit of a bluff.

Would be great if you did a review of the Colorlitelens glasses. Nobody (FAPP) seems to know about them in America and there are no video reviews I know of. I'm not associated with them in any way BTW, it's just that optics is a hobby of mine (I am a mathematician) and Colorlitelens approach is very different than Enchroma, it's based on a controlled hue adaptation, a bit reminiscent of how the orange mask worked on colour negative films - remember those? IOW instead of altering the spectrum reaching the eye (the Enchroma approach) they change the "baseline" of what constitutes neutral grey in certain way. When done right, subtracting this altered baseline results in a higher discrimination of "the difference", according to the research they did. Despite superficial similarity they seem very different than Pilestone which you're probably familiar with. Their web site is interesting, it even includes a tritanopia test.

Amazing concept & a great video. However, I seriously doubt that they are actually anti-reflective. When you handled the glasses, there was a very pronounced reflection from the window and your light source and even the most basic contemporary vacuum-deposition AR coating would significantly reduce those. My guess is that the lenses have a sol-gel hard coating that's marketed as AR. There is however a coating that's improving transmission by 50% but that's not something I would spend money on... Still, the concept in itself is awesome!

Hey would someone with dominant optic nerve atrophy be able to get anything out of these? He has this and also has color blindness at times..

    • @eolsunder
      @eolsunder 4 года назад

no because the cones/rods are totally different than the optic nerve. You can have perfectly fine optic cones/rods which are before the optic nerve, and light and color can enter those perfectly fine, but the nerve is damaged and doesn't put through the signal. It would be if you had your TV plugged in with your cable. The signal goes in perfectly fine, but the TV is off, so doesn't matter how good the signal is, or if it works fine, you still can't see anything because the TV isn't on. Nothing wrong with the cones, or rods, etc everything gets to that point just fine, it just won't progress past the damaged optic nerve. I'm guessing his on and off again color blindness again doesn't have anything to do with damaged or weak color receptors/cones, but the optic nerve that reads and relays that information.

I live in the Netherlands and at the age of 22 I found out that I'm mild protan colorblind. Heard about the glasses, which are Reaaaaly rare here in the Netherlands, and wanted to check them out... Untill I found out there only 1 shop in the entire country who sells them and they cost around €500,- ($600) due to import taxes. It sucks that the ensurance does not cover up for these type of glasses. I can never afford the glasses... Even if it is something I truly desire.

I have achromatopsia and I was wondering if the glasses work for that or is there no fix

    • @akshafati808

Did you get this glass? Did it work?

    • @eolsunder
      @eolsunder 4 года назад

I assume it depends. I think those with achromatopsia usually have cones and receptors that work fine, they aren't deficient or damaged like red/green colorblindness, etc. its just that the chemicals and molecular process of those visual cones doesn't work correctly, so probably the glasses wouldn't do anything because they only affect the wavelengths of light that can be seen, not the actual molecular chemical makeup of the cone's process to determine color.

The Enchroma glasses ads are misleading. They do not permit you to "see color for the first time" they simply enhance colors so they stand out, better contrast.
