that field method is so much better, cant wait to play around with that some more. Keep the videos coming mate they are so helpfull
It most definitely has potential. I'd like to see if I can get it to work with an infolayer.
I think we need more comments from Stefan Geiger in your videos. His insights on procedural placement in your last video, for example, were really helpful. I was trying to "crack the code" on PP last night and that comment was a piece of the puzzle. That comment also revealed that we are missing pieces to said puzzle!
Very excited for some of the new features in GE 10. It seems like there's a refined focus on improving the experience for map makers. Thanks for the video(s), BB!
For sure! I definitely felt like something was missing and even mentioned as much. Now we know!!
Im actually really liking that create fields technique. It is a huge jump over what we had. Looking forward to playing with this after work.
It's definitely growing on me :)
Was waiting for your video, thank you
I also had a previous video but the editor wasn't working quite right at that point, not that it is now, LOL.
10.0.2 has released
Yup, I did a video update on it this morning :)
Remove fruit subtracts field area. So you can make islands. Of course you need to redraw your points. At least that’s what I experienced when I was mashing buttons
Sounds reasonable enough. I have some more playing around to do and haven't had much time today.
how did you draw a field like that? 5:19
Magic Fingers!! LOL, by using the insert button. I have it mapped to one of the side buttons on my mouse and it makes it easy to work with splines, etc. (you need to press it fast). Well, that and lots of practice :)
This is using the interactive placement feature. Press Ctrl-B, left mouse hold move the object to where you want and click Shift to create a new copy. For other purposes you can also click Ctrl to create a copy with a random rotation (e.g. when placing trees)
@@stefangeiger9321 Yes, what he said, LOL. I was thinking of splines!
@@stefangeiger9321 that's the one thanks!
Looks like a bear in a sack race Bower lol
I miss that day in art class, LOL. You're not wrong though, now that I look at it ... LOL.
whats all the errors in console? should we worry about that?
I wouldn't worry unless it's you did something in the editor to trigger the error specifically. All of the errors I've seen so far are meaningless Giant's stuff - nothing to worry about.
How does one creat a blank map?
Without the "new mod from game" it starts by copying over the base game map and changing all the file paths to point to local copies (depending what they are). It's too much to list everything in comments, but I was thinking of making one of my next videos on that subject.
@@bauerbrown thanks for quick reply and am enjoying your video :)
@@DWL787 I finished the deco house series tonight and hopefully tomorrow I can do a video on making your own blank map. It would be a heck of a lot easier if the editor worked right, then we wouldn't have to go through all of this.
