  • This specific motor and shaft combination is just one of many. For those from Sweden/Scandinavia, you can buy them(and many more) at www.rcflight.se... (Tiger motor AT2204-21) and www.rcflight.se... (3mm motor shaft for Emax 2215 Heli)

    I believe this kind of prop saver is better used on an RC plane than on a drone....

      @Arlingtonsjw 7 месяцев назад

      Because with the drone the prophet used for directional control but an airplane has wings is that is that why??? Cause I just ordered a pair of these with the ESC included from teamu

      @@Arlingtonsjw yes, you would have a slow response on that prop.

    Disadvantages you are mentioning prop savers orings (bending horz and vert) is in fact the very unique feature of them not just to protect the props but also motors on a crash!

      I agree, they are fantastic to avoid massive props' breaks in crashes. In my opinion an experience though, that advantage does not compensate the fact that in aggressive manouvres, windy situations, etc. you want the prop to be rigidly attached to the motor shaft to avoid control issues and have the responsiveness of the craft it needs. For me the later is crucial as I fly fast on those small quads.

      Oh, and I've detected cuts in the o-rings in several occasions bc the sharp edges of the props. Luckily they never broke in the air but it could have happened.

      You are right for the most agressive flying and experienced pilots no need to protect props, and carbon props are the best, for for so many beginners or intetmediate skilled pilots with,limited budget this kind of prop savers are good choice

    I fly quadcopters indoors and outdoors. I have even started up an octo in my dining room. I never use prop guards (added weight and mass)and never ever use prop savers. Props are meant to be replaced IMHO. I understand protecting the motors but experienced pilots know what to avoid and not to show off in confined areas without enough altitude. If I got those motors I would not have flown until the prop was mechanically attached not just with a wimpy O-ring.

    I rather break expensive props and motors rather then my face! How can spinning a propeller at super high RPM's held by a "rubber band" be safe???

    • @anon3513
      @anon3513 8 лет назад +2

      +Stellar lupus I understand your concern, however you have it backwards. In fact propellers rigidly attached to the motor are many times more dangerous. Prop savers act like crashing into an airbag instead of the steering wheel. The same energy is dissipated, but in a slower and more controlled manner.
      TL;DR: It is safe because it gives. Like a hammer versus a rubber mallet.

    "Rubber O-ring prop" attachment is the most inferior, unreliable way, never use it unless you like to lose or damage your model. There is always an easy way to upgrade it by proper solid attachment.

      Bullet adapter. Prop saving adapters are for planes.

    Had a lot of problems with prop saver and so made my own prop adapter using parts of two pens and some glue. No need of any change on the motor, as it just sits on top of the prop saver.

    Future modifications:
    i) Shorten the prop adapter base
    ii) Balance the whole arrangement.
