- In this video I make my week 7 page for my 2024 concertina / accordion journal. This journal is a bit different - to usual journals as I will creating the journal page by page each week. The concertina / accordion journal I am creating can be regarded as an #artjournal or a #junkjournal - it's up to you what you want to call yours.Whatever you call it, I will be showing how you can create each page using #collage and #mixedmediatechniques . Whether art journal pages or #junkjournalpages we are going to have fun turning #trashtotreasure. Whatever your style or preference for #journaling you can adapt this project to do what you enjoy most. Have fun.

I think the gold makes this page a wonderful fit for the concertina. 😊
Kylie, the colors that you used, are they autumnal? Yes! You just gave the journal a little bit of pop! A LITTLE bit of pop makes a piece of art more interesting and eye catching. It's perfect!
As you were cogitating on whether or not to add this page to the concertina journal, an old saying my mother used to say popped into my head: “Variety is the spice of life”. I definitely think you should add this page. If you look at my work so far I seem to be constitutionally unable to make my pages match each other when I am creating at a week’s distance, so the “matching” idea has fallen by the wayside. And it is okay with me. This is beautiful, it was what you were moved to create this week and I would have no qualms about adding it if I had the say in it. I hope your migraine goes away and it never returns in this lifetime. Blessed be, Kylie, and thanks for inspiring us.

Kylie, I love your rose page and since you asked, I have some thoughts on your quandary. I believe that this page is saying that you are ready for something a little different, I think it is a new inspiration that has popped up and should not go in the current journal. It’s not that it doesn’t GO with it, it is just that it feels like a different direction! Embrace the inspiration to move in a new direction and see where it goes! Sorry about your migraine, they are awful!💕🇨🇦
I love how this rose turned out... would definitely add it to the journal, the gold stencil ties it in with the other pages, and like the idea of using black lace. (I have a dark red roses loo seat from LIdl in my bathroom... a bit incongruous with the rest of the decor but sort of works😂)💜💫
Kylie personally think this is a good idea because if you're doing the whole 52 weeks in a year? We don't always feel the same from week to week, we don't always do the same type of art from week to week.
So the concertina journal being a documentation, if you will, of your art? I think you should have differences.
But in the end it's going to be your decision. If you feel like it a bothers you then you may not want to not put it in. I personally think you should.
This pages just bloomed beautifully.

What a beautiful page Kylie! My thoughts on your question…I guess I’d be curious to know what your vision for this project is. Is there a hard and fast rule that forces each page to be become a reflection of those around it? That approach can offer calm and a degree of predictability. Is it to become a recording of where you were at in a moment in time? There can certainly be a dynamic energy created in that approach. Even though it is unique to your previous pages, it is really an expression of the word “grace” on your first page. Flipping through this journal in years to come, it’s unique nature will offer up a pause, where you can remember the time when you allowed yourself the grace to follow your inner voice. In our hectic, judgmental world, that in itself can be a valuable reminder at maybe a time in need. I hope you do include it. It’s lovely, it’s worthy to be included…let it be a gentle reminder to just be who you are, for a moment in time.

Because the background has collage elements and gold stenciling like the other pages, It would fit in very eell.

I would wait to add it. Give yourself an incubation period. I do this with my writing. See how you feel in a couple of weeks and then go with your instincts. As always, I ❤ your videos.

I was thinking about the question you asked us regarding future pages and what supplies to possibly use and suddenly I remembered your Positivity card deck and your ATC series where you used a variety of mixed media techniques and supplies for the cards. I hope you feel better quickly. The wonderful aspect of an art journal is that it can be anything we want. I would add it to the concertina journal. It has enough similarities to the other pages to remain cohesive, but it is still a slight departure so adds nice variety. Thanks for sharing and inspiring.

The rose is beautiful! This page is more "traditional" but I really like it in contrast to some of the more abstract. pages but if that was what the day brought, it should be included. The gold stencil and the colors definitely connect it with the others. I will need to go back but this may be my favorite page! TFS 😍😍😍
I agree with retrodux! From day to day, from week to week our feelings, our moods, and style are different. I find it amazing that with a pounding headache you could create such beauty. I was also thinking of the seasons, and how pleasing it is to see color emerge from the earth in spring. I know a rose is something you see later in the calendar, so perhaps you could set it aside and see what else develops. I am hopeful that you can figure this out. 🤣🙏🥰
