To be fair this is a lot more natural for me 😂 I do love the challenge of playing/singing different styles, pulling different sounds etc. It's what got me into it back in the HSCC days! I learn so much from doing these vids :) Anyhoo, glad you dug it - have a great one 🤘😎

What the dickens! I thought this big unit of a guy was just someone who could just play Eddies Beat It solo's so effortlessly as if with eyes closed, but boy, he can also really sing, I mean what a great voice, wow, slap me silly!

Cam is about as polar opposite of Billy Idol as black and white. But once he hits that first guitar chord, he’s channeled 1984 and Billy Idol all over again!!! What a great cover both vocally and instrumentally!!! Plus, I think I had as much fun listening to it as you guys did recording it. Well done Sing It Live💯❤️👏👏
Yeah I wasn't ready to pull out the clippers and the peroxide 😂 I was born at the tail end of the '80s, but I was all about 80s music in my teens - still my favourite era. Been nagging Darren to let me do this one 😉 glad you dug it, have a great weekend!!!

Okay, after watching many of your videos, I just have to say this. I feel the bassist deserves a special shoutout.
I'm sorry I don't know his name, but I've seen him in multiple videos. He's a large, middle-aged guy just like me, and he's always in the background, never front and center.
But sir, I just want you to know that you are noticed, and you are doing an incredible job. My man is just always back there rocking that bass.

His name is Damien Steel Scott or as I call him the man of steel, but he more like Clark kent. Quiet, unassuming but he’s super man on the bass 👍
@@chisel83 Yeah he's one of South Australia's most prized possessions. He's played all over the world with people you wouldn't even believe... but nowadays he lives a simple life gigging around in Adelaide. All of us "younger" musos look up to him a lot.

Had to listen to that five or six times before commenting. Tremendous energy...Wow! Cam is really in rare form on this, thought I was listening to Billy Idol. And Mario drives the whole thing along like a steam locomotive, with Damien pouring on the coal. One of your best, Darren.

I wish I could play like that, be part of that kind of crew. But life is different for some of us, and sometimes we cannot do it (for different reasons). But deep down... we want to.
I'm not sure what I'm doing here... but as a top level IT engineer, working in US, almost every country in EU, UK, Australia, Asia... bla, bla, bla.. - all I can do is respect those guys and I cannot stress that enough. The whole music, tone, voice - all very good.
Note: I'm saying it as a fan of Billy Idol, Sabaton - my god what a great Bismarck video, ACDC, Alice Cooper, Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Deep Purple, Foreigner, Gary Moore, Halestorm, Iron Maiden (hello to Bruce!), Metallica (been there since the beginning), Rammstein, Pretty Maids (amazing older albums), Shakra (love those guys), Saxon, Status Quo, Accept (including UDO albums, Dirkschneider stuff > and in some of the recent videos his son is also a... drummer!), Virgin Steele (classic "Age of Consent" and "Invictus" albums), and of course Winger. And much more than this (such as Gotthard, Nordic Union or something like Revolution Saints)...
Anyway, just respect from some random stranger on the internet! :)
Only so many humans on earth can play that intro, Cam! 🙌

I always thought the intro was played on two separate guitars.
But I watched the original and it is on one guitar. You really went the extra mile to replicate that, not to mention the awesome guitar solo and stellar lead vocal.

Steve Stevens has one of the top unique sounds in rock. A talented creative genius. I remember when this album first came out. I've listened to this song thousands of times since. The closest I've ever heard anyone try to replicate it. Awesome job!

Great Balls of Billy Idol Fire!!! Fabulous! Well-Played! Some surgeons I worked with as a scrub nurse would play this and it was really hard not to 'bop' along, in the middle of surgery. People had nerves of Steel then! Har!

But as a musio myself there are a hell of a lot of factors at play there. Bigger room, more equipment just to name a few. Makes a big difference.

Cam Blokland!!! Either your vocal OR your guitar prowess would have been an A+ on its own, but to do both to such an exceptional level makes you dux of this week's Singit Live masterclass. Am now rummaging around in the list of classic songs I have maintained the last few years, adding to as I hear/remember them to put a 'C' next to ones you would slay! Each instrument gets a spotlight in this song: Darren's keyboard riff (which sounds simple, but is the equivalent of a tongue twister for the fingers); the rhythm guitar riff, the pulse of the track (love the vibe you bring, Crafty, can't wait to see you with Singit on a bigger stage); those DRUMS from Mars, especially that primordial boom-fest in the breakdown; Damien's bass is the shoulders on which the song sits - a rock song is nothing without the solid foundation of its bass line; recorded in a 30 minute window, meticulous planning, organisation, art direction, technical know-how and post production genius makes that possible.
How good were songs written then? Rebel Yell, "just another song" on the charts in the 80s, all those tracks that have since become the treasure trove of gems from the second half of the 20th century...listen to each of the elements, there is so much to the composition and dynamics of this song.
