    Great coaching as always, but one mistake. Spin always decreases as the ball moves because of friction from the air. The spin does not stop and then increase when the ball hits the table. On contact with the table the spin reduces because of friction from the table (and the spin axis usually changes also). After the bounce the spin continues to reduce. The reason it can be easier to lift the ball right off the bounce (versus later in its trajectory as it starts to fall) is that the ball is going up after the bounce. It's this upward motion that can make it easier to lift, even though there's more spin at this point compared to when the ball starts to fall. There is a way to minimize the effect of spin at any point in the trajectory (by contacting at the spin axis, often called "spin avoidance"), but that's a different technique.

      Both good video and good text comment explanation.
      As for spin avoidance mentioned in your comment. When I can read heavy under spin only I find it very easy to return with side spin only as early as possible, doesn’t matter if I push or flip. I use this to play extreme angles to force the opponent moving into weak positions. However if serve has side under spin or I can’t read it this doesn’t work. I wonder if it is due to your points rotation axis and natural uplift trajectory right after bounce.

      I'm confused too, it's almost impossible to watch the spin axis. Maybe pro players can. So its all guess . As far as I know , spin reduces just after bounce , keep increasing till ball starts to fall but exactly when it's guess. So if hit after ball starts falling you are taking maximum spin. Same if you play with pimples players its good to attack just after bounce

      Needs someone with good knowledge of physics of spin. Same applies to all ball games

      Makes sense. @@huskysixdirty

    • @andy4499yt
      @andy4499yt 10 месяцев назад

      It's true you usually can't see the ball spinning directly, unless it's spinning slowly enough to see the logo. But with experience you can judge the amount and axis of the spin pretty accurately based on how the ball is contacted and how it moves through the air. This ability to judge spin is one of the fundamental skills that improves as you get better. For sure pro players are much better at it than amateurs, but even they can sometimes be fooled. As far as the spin and speed energy of the ball, it's always at its maximum just after you hit it. Then energy in the form of spin and speed (rotational and translational momentum) decreases continuously until your opponent hits the ball. It's true that the spin to speed ratio can change on the bounce, and in certain situations spin can increase a little (as with a no spin serves that gets a little topspin when it bounces), but the total energy will always decrease because of friction. In most cases spin just keeps decreasing though the entire trajectory.@@wilmslowleaguetabletennis2539

    I'm confused, I thought you want to chop or attack back spin at pos 2 (right after bounce) + pos 4 after it's falling from highest point?

    • @BrunoNeureiter
      @BrunoNeureiter 10 месяцев назад +1

      Same. I was taught that if you attack early you can surprise your opponent, but the more you wait, the less spin there is. Here I'm hearing the opposite

    • @BIRDTRAPVN
      @BIRDTRAPVN 10 месяцев назад

      As I know, he meaned that you have to follow the spin, when the ball goes up, you can follow with a little spin

    • @kimchiwarrior7194
      @kimchiwarrior7194 10 месяцев назад +2

      It depends honestly. You have to watch the ball first. If your opponent is pushing into you with a lot of backspin like in this video, if u wait and try to attack in position 4 when the ball is falling after the highest point, you will likely miss due to the increased spin. That's why Ti Long says you have to loop it early in position 2, because at that position the ball has almost no spin, and if u wait and hit it late like I said before, the ball will increase his spin and it will be very hard to attack it (like in the video)
      However, if your opponent push and the ball is not that heavy, in that case you can wait and hit it late with a slow loop with increased spin. At the end is all about your judgement and the quality of your opponent's push.
