Connections are the most vital part of the World Wide Web. They are everywhere. And they need to be properly protected.
Meshnet, NordVPN’s new feature, will provide you with this protection. But what does it do?
Instead of connecting you to a VPN server, Meshnet lets you connect to other devices directly, no matter where in the world they are.
So, you will be able to safely access your documents on your home computer while you travel.
Or you can engage in awesome LAN parties with your friends wherever you are.
But does it work? Well, Meshnet allows you to route your online traffic through another device. So you will access the internet with the IP address of that device. Similarly, other devices can route their traffic through your device.
But don’t worry - random people won’t start using your machine for their needs. Meshnet allows you to manage permissions for traffic routing, and you’re always in control.
For now, traffic routing will only be available on Linux and Windows devices. But we also plan to introduce the sideload version for MacOS.
We must also mention that Meshnet is extremely easy to use.
All you need to do is turn on your NordVPN app and link the devices you’d like to connect. Of course, first, you need to enable Meshnet on those devices or send invitations to other NordVPN users.
After this step, you can access your device by using its unique Nord name and IP address.
Meshnet will ensure safer online collaboration online such as through gaming, file-sharing, or using the same web server’s resources.
You can link up to 60 devices and get connected in seconds.
So grab NordVPN with Meshnet and stay safely connected.
And don’t forget to follow us on RUclips and other social media channels.

PLEASE READ FOR THOSE THAT DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THIS WORKS: I know Nord isn't being very descriptive with how to actually use it, or use cases. But here's how it essentially works. It creates VPN tunnels between all of your devices that are connected in the Meshnet. So for example if you had a Windows 10 workstation at your job, another Windows 10 Desktop at home, and another Linux computer somewhere else; then you'd be able to ping, RDP, and transfer files in between all 3 of them even though they're on different networks and in different locations. They'll all essentially be on the same private network.
What this means for gaming and other services is that, those services may have restrictions that only allow you to play games or consume content with friends/family that are also connected on the same network. With Meshnet, you'd be able to allow your friends to join your Meshnet and from the games' perspective... y'all are all on the same network. Same with services like Netflix or TV streaming that allow you to watch on multiple devices, but ONLY if y'all are in the same household. With Meshnet, you could theoretically join all of your devices to the same Meshnet and they'd all appear as though they're in the same household.
You can even choose which route you want certain devices to take. So your kid that's away at college could join the Meshnet and route back through your home's Meshnet computer to access Netflix for example. From Netflix's perspective, they are at home with you and accessing the service from that device.
It's essentially a Mesh network of VPN's. Same thing your job uses to allow you to access company resources from home or anywhere else.
Now, I don't see a particular use case for mobile phones outside of gaming parties, etc. It's not like you'd be remoting into your phone. And if you did, there are other alternatives for that, which work better. But Meshnet is definitely useful for the other reasons mentioned above.

I've got it set up. I have all devices linked. And I still have no idea what to do with it. How do I file share across devices? This video is useless beyond the basic setup, which I was able to manage without the video anyway. Clearly I'm not the only one in this boat, half the comments here are people wondering the same thing. Don't just point us to customer support, we just need a basic tutorial video, not a whole support session. My password storage service started offering VPN so I was already considering not renewing Nord when the subscription ended, and frustrations like this don't really help sway my decision.

I have Meshnet as part of Nord on all 3 devices - a Win 10 pc, an Android phone and an Android tablet. They are all on wifi.
I can see my 2 android devices listed on screen in Nord/Mesh app on my PC.
I do not know what to do from here.
Your 'instructions' in the video or article do NOT actually show HOW to use the Meshnet name or the unique IP address.
You merely say that you CAN connect them using this protocol
What do I actually have to do to access files on one of my 3 devices?
I have tried copying the IP address and pasting it into a browser = nothing, cannot connect.
Clicking on the meshnet devices within Nord/Meshnet does nothing.
What do I actually DO to see my remote files and use them?

Well at this point I'm just piling on but this meshnet feature is beyond useless. I assumed when you click on the linked devices on the meshnet screen it would securely take you to your linked devices and allow remote access or at the very least a shared folder. All that happens is it copies the IP address. That's it. I asked them over chat and they said they would create a ticket for their advanced technical team. Referring me to a very technical article on file sharing over a local network does not match up with the advertised feature and did not help me in the slightest. Ok, rant over.

Just right-click a folder, go to properties > sharing > advanced sharing, check the box, go to permissions, then check full control, and press ok on it all. To view the files on another windows PC, open run, and type \\[INSERT NORD NAME HERE]\, then press ok. To access it on a phone, you'll probably need a third-party app.)

After enabling Meshnet on my own PC I used the Invitation option to invite my wife who uses Nord VPN or her Windows 10 PC. However the Invitation email is a waste of time as it just offers the user a link to “Get NORD VPN”. Clicking on that just takes you to the page on Nord's site where you can buy NordVPN. Not applicable as we’ve already got it! So… I just manually enabled the Meshnet service on her Windows PC as well. She sent me the invitation email, but again it was waste of time as you can’t do anything other than buy NordVPN from that email! So we both have just our own devices showing as connected but no external devices shown from either PC so we can't do anything with it. And the current articles on the support site don't actually explain how to use the service. Just how to install it. Somebody at NordVPN has made a pig's ear of rolling out this new service!

That's totally waste of people's time if they did a useless email invitation feature and just a hyperlink to their promotion page.

Speak in plain language!!! I didn't understand a thing you said or how this feature can help me. For those of us seniors who do leave the US occasionally to vacation, how is this better than using a VPN? Sounds like just another avenue for hackers to get in our computer or android devices unless we are computer experts. Also, get rid of the annoying background noise.
