This video just reminded me that Six crimson cranes by Elizabeth Lim is getting a sequel in August this year. Please read it. It's definitely on the younger side of YA but it's a really good read ❤
So happy about this. It is 1am here and I am so tired, but HAVE to stay awake a little longer, and this video is such a lovely distraction in this hour of need ^^ THANK YOU SO MUCH CARI ❤ can't wait...
I've been eye-ing A Magic Steeped in Poison ever since it exists, wanting to read it, to own it. But the paperback version will be available on September, which is upsetting bc that's so far away, but at the same time exciting because the sequel is also coming out around that time. My only concern is if the second book will also take a few more months to have it in paperback, bc if that's so, I will be suffering
I purchased the audio book. But, I sadly couldn't get into it. The MC was very generic and it was hard to like her. Somehow, the author made a world about tea alchemist boring. Hopefully you will enjoy it 😀.
This video got me thinking that the For the Wolf sequel comes out soon! June 7th! If you haven't read it yet I highly recommend it. It's by Hannah Whitten. I can't wait for the sequel!
Ooooh! Thank you for this information! As a person who kind of hates waiting for the next book in a duology not knowing that it will be a duology, I'm kind of glad now I waited with reading For the Wolf :D
@@caricanread I read it this month after it being on my tbr for so long and I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I do rn. The ending had me so hyped for the next book. Each and every character are so interesting (I especially LOVE the main couple). And the romance was just *chef's kiss*! It's more on the darker side of the fantasy and I don't think it's YA. Please read it cari !! You won't be disappointed I promise!!
ahhhh cari how is it possible that you consistently make the best videos on booktube???? 😍 i was watching the clock and waiting for four pm (i live in west coast, united states so thats when your new videos come out) and may have lost it when i saw your video was about new fantasy books...
Yesss, Six of Crows is one of my favourites! Also I’m still not over the end of Crooked Kingdom, I still cry about it to this day haha (I’m so excited to start Inheritance games after Throne of glass, I literally watched knives out coz I heard it was similar)😂 Also so glad you’re back from last week!😁
Crooked Kingdom absolutely wrecked me but I made a booktube because of it and booktube makes me so happy so in a twisted way…it made me a very happy lady😂😂😂😂
I'm so excited to read the sequels to A magic steeped in poison and The inheritance games! The first books were my favourites of this year and I can't wait to read the sequels 😍😍
I literally finished reading Legendborn yesterday and like desperately trying to find anything related to it. And here i saw you again talking about it! Can't wait to read the next book!
I had a similar thing happen to me where a planned trilogy was suddenly turned into a quadrologie. That was the Locked Tomb series by Tamsyn Muir. But I was actually very excited about that. What happened was that what is now "Nona the Nith" was supposed to be part of the last book. But just this first part became so big that the author's editor asked if this could be its own book. What I love about that is that it doesn't feel like anything is being stretched. So much is always happening in this series that ending it with the third book always felt impossible. And from the Sneak Peek I have read from "Nona the Ninth" it really feels like and natrual extension and not useless padding. But this whole series is so strange and bonkers and sometimes tells stories that seem completly disconnected that dedicating a whole book to a character that was never mentioned until the last pages of the second book seems normal. But on the other hand, finding out who this character is is part of the mystery of this new book.
I was wondering if you have any recommendations for good fantasy series without romance? I read a lot of epic/high Fantasy because i can usually avoid romantic plot lines that way but it seems impossible to find YA Fantasy without romance :/
Also, I started watching you because I saw a thumbnail and you looked like my childhood best friend. I stay because we have similar tastes but you read way more so I can just pick the books that sound the best to put on hold at the library
Kingdom of the Feared is the book being released in September. Kingdom of the cursed and kingdom of the wicked is book one and two respectively. I'm so excited for the final book in the trilogy. I really love these books and cant really put my finger on why. Hope you enjoy kingdom of the Feared
Okay you have finally convinced me to read Legendborn! I kind of fell away from reading YA but it sounds so interesting and you know I can’t refuse Arthurian elements in books 😂
(🔴🔴🔴🔴🔴🔴SPOILERS 🔴🔴🔴🔴🔴🔴) Kingdom of the wicked and kingdom of the cursed are wonderful books and Honestly I feel bad people don’t understand the connection between Emilia and wrath , in the Barnes and noble edition there were 3 chapters explain that he knew who she was and He actually planned for her to summon him , also the story of envy is enticing and what happened to her memories and Who she actually is , there’s a lot of secrets that to be revealed and I’m sure the author will amaze us
bladesmith (1. blade of secrets 2. master of iron) is a duology by tricia levenseller. the second book comes out july 2022, and i am soo excited to read it!
Cari you need to read the Sevenwaters Trilogy (which is actually 6 books haha) by Juliet Marillier! It’s adult fantasy set in Ireland before Christianity and it’s steeped in folklore and tradition. As someone with Irish roots too, I find this series so interesting and well written. I hope you check it out❤❤
I just finished heartless and was looking for other books like it so I started once upon a broken heart (without reading Caraval whoops). I didn’t love it, but the cliffhanger left me unsettled so I’m excited for and anticipating the second book 😭
I'm not sure if you know about The Last Magician series. The storyline is quite different than other YA fantasy series and it's amazing. The 4th and final book is coming out this december, 2022.
WAIT so if i wait until 02.04 am (i know, my sleep schedule is a wreck) I get a Cari video?? Should've done this sooner. Also Cari i already told this but I NEED to recommend it to you again now that i finished it, The Sword of Kaigen, you need to read it seriously. It has become my favorite fantasy book, and English book, and one of my favorites of all time. (And I will try to get more people to read it wdym there are people around living thier lives not knowing who Misaki and Mamoru are?) Also bc of our time difference i don't get to come early and comment on your videos when you see, i'm happy now, you're literally my favorite youtuber, i don't think i ever followed someone's videos so consistently like you so, thank you for putting out videos constantly.
Hey Cari...Mrng from 🇮🇳...hope all well👍 Me currently reading Atlas six ✌️..... eagerly waiting for Bloodmark pre-ordered already...😍 defy the night was...meh🤔🙄okay
The second installment of The Keeper of Night is also coming out this year! 🤩 if you haven’t read it yet I totally recommend it! I feel like it’s a super underrated book
I bought the sequel to legend born as an add on to my November book of the month. Sorry TBR list and library books. When that book arrives, I am going to drop everything and read that one.
Can I suggest Cixin Liu’s trilogy : the Three body problem, Dark forest and ( best for me) Death’s end. If you want to choose one of them read Death ‘s end.
I'm having my finals and watching your videos in between my study breaks. So happy to have more content to use as motivation for studying! Love you and your channel. ♥️
I think there’s a lot to Kingdom of the Wicked/ Kingdom of the Cursed that maybe you missed that was important to the plot of both 🤣 there is a big jump between the first and second for me but I found it to be really good. The main character Emilia did piss me off to no end but if you read through to the end I think you’ll find reason for a third book 🤣
I just found out the name of the sequel to ninth house oh my gosh I'm so pumped I really really am it's called hell-bent and it comes out next January so unfortunately a long time to wait but I love Lee bardugo
If you want something new and done well, I recommend heaven official's blessing and grandmaster of demonic cultivation, they are fantasy new adults with lgbt themes and Chinese culture.💕
Atlas six and inheritance games are on my TBR! I really want to read six of crows but I have OCD convinced myself i need to read the shadows trilogy first lol
Yes! I really want the continuation to the “The Hawthorne Legacy”, hopefully she stops the Jameson nonsense and finds some clarity with Grayson! ;) If that’s not how it goes, I am going to be extremely disappointed!
Hi Cari. I have a book recommedation as I see people suggesting in the comments. Have you heard of "A River Enchanted" by Rebecca Ross? The first one came out in February 2022, and the second----and final book ;)----comes out in December 2022. Not YA, but Adult Fantasy, which so far-----a third of the way through-----seems worth it, if you're looking for some magic/mystery/folktale vibe story.
hey, i think that you might really like the prison healer by lynette noni! it is kind of slow but i grew to love the characters very deeply and have been waiting (impatiently) for the final book for months and it will finally be available june 14th (usa)! by now if you start the series you won’t have to suffer the twist to badly at the end of the second book haha. love your videos!!!!
you need to read Letters to the Lost and More Than We Can Tell (by Brigid Kemmerer, author of Defy the Night and A Curse so Dark and Lonely). they're my favorite books!! also she's releasing the first book in a sequel series to A Curse so Dark and Lonely coming out May 2022
Hi , I loved this selection. I will say I haven't read The Atlas Six, but from the sound of it you should read The Great Library series by Rachel Caine, the first book is Ink and Bone. They are absolutely amazing action packed (a little like Six of Crows) based around the Great Library of Alexandra there are 5 books and the series is all done!
with the end of the hawthorne legacy (which i actually liked more) i just dont know what is gonna happen in the final gambit. but cari!! i cannot believe you are team grayson, i trusted you!! no im kidding lol, i love grayson as a character but i simply cannot see the chemistry with avery. i will genuinely combust is they end up together just cos there has been no build up.
I discovered your channel through your These Hollow Vows video lol so this is kind of like coming full circle! I hope you make a video about the sequel :)
I can't wait for The Final Gambit by JLB, but also I'm a bit scared, the love triangle was already very cringy so I hope we are done with that... I don't care with whom Avery ends up as long as I get more plot and riddles. As you said, the second book dragged and I was so sad because I know JLB can do so much better
cari you will love "stalking jack the ripper" series, its a detective, forced proximity romance and great murder mystery. its so up your alley and i didnt like kingdom of the wicked but i loved these. also its finished!! all the kingdom of the wicked books are a fever dream, i genuinely cannot remember a single plot point except for the second book plottwist. the second point was just all... smut lol but the first book was just slow so....
I giggled about Those Hollow Vows. I think the first book was terrible but fun for a quick fantasy romance read. I just read the second (Got an advanced copy), and it is more of a straight romance book with some fantasy elements thrown in. The second book is better than the first IMO. Not a brilliant one, but ok for a binge. Can't wait to start Once upon a broken heart!
Yes!!! I've been waiting for another book video 🤗🤗🥳 I've been meaning to read once upon a broken heart I've heard such great things. Your videos always make.my day!! Thanks for being literally the best booktuber🥰
Can’t remember if you have read Fable and Namesake by Adrienne Young but we are getting a spin off book called Saint based off of her father’s younger years and meeting her mother that comes out in November!!!
Yeah, Cari I just made that mistake i bought the Caraval box set at the beginning of the year was going to get to it and well I just didn't and now I'm currently 260 pages into OUABH and I'm liking it a lot but I feel confused a bit and a little frustrated but yeah i think I will still continue onto book 2 and go back immediately and read Caraval.
I just happen to have picked up the Atlas six reading/listening right now. So far I enjoy it. I do have missed some of your book tubes so I don’t know if you already know about this book, but I have to recommend it to you. “Daughter of the moon goddess” by Sue Lynn Tan. It was published in n January this year and it is the first book in a planned duology. I really think you would enjoy it and I would so much love to hear what you think about the book.
Currently reading six of crows and LOVING IT SO MUCH! I was convinced it was a duology but you nearly gave me an heart attack in the beginning making me think there were more books not out yet😅
@@rodsitamara Oh no!!! should I be scared??? I'm like half way through and loving it so much more than the Shadow and Bone trilogy! I'm not prepared for bad things to happen!!!!
Hi Cari!! I love your videos, i read a lot of what you recommend :) If by any chance in your trip to Europe you happen to visit Valencia (Spain) I would love to have coffee (or tea) with you
it's funny that you talk about the shadowhunters-verse (or whatever it's called) after Legendborn because I recently read it and I was so struck by how much it reminded me of The Mortal Instruments. the way the demons come from another dimension and how they're described i was like "is this Cassandra Clare?" that's why I'm a bit concerned that an adaptation might end up looking kinda cheap and corny like Shadowhunters 😬
I was reading a collection of short stories by Seanan McGuire and one of them was about a mad scientist who ends the world with a pandemic because she knows people won't quarantine. When was the book published? 2019
Tbh I started reading Kingdom of the wicked, thinking it to be a duology. And boom at the end of the second book (Kingdom of the cursed) it ended in a huge cliff-hanger and I was like what the hell is with this ending?? And so I crawl my lazy ass to google and type "Kingdom of the Wicked series" and damn there's a third book which is totally not out yet. So yh now I'm like dying to read the third book but gotta wait till September for that. And waiting is what I hate the most in the world.
You mentioned six of crows did you ever read ninth house because I think Leigh bardugo is doing a sequel to that at least I heard she started writing it after she was done with ninth house
@@caricanread I like all the history that she has when she talks about Yale I mean I know that there's parts of that that yell actually was kind of like that back in the day and it is sort of a little dark Academia cuz you do know you can see all those ghosts and stuff I'm really looking forward to the second one
ive heard that some characters from caraval are in once upon a broken heart so...maybe? i want to read once upon a broken heart as well so i just decided to buy the whole caraval trilogy like two days ago
Ok thank god I thought it was just me that thought nothing was happening in The Atlas six cos I got half way through and thought nothing was happening, but I’m going to try and read it again cos I want to but I think I will try ebook not audio this time x
OMG!!! Finally, someone who had the same thought about the Kingdom of the Wicked series as me!!! Honestly, I thought that book was kinda a hot mess. Like you said her writing was good and I had no issues with it as well. But Lord! the jump from the first to the second book??? She completely ignored the actual plot that was happening and I was just confused.
people say that the publisher version of the atlas six was different and the plot twist wasn't there? idk thats what i heard but its worth rereading before the next book

Cari. Read The first Law series by Joe Abercrombie. Come back at me when you’ve read them. You’re welcome
Have you read The Poppy War Trilogy?
currently waiting for my copy of a magic steeped in poison to arrive and it’s KILLING MEEE
yessssss!
Can’t remember if you have read Fable and Namesake by Adrienne Young but we are getting a spin off book called Saint based off of her father’s younger years and meeting her mother that comes out in November!!!
Yess fable was one of my fav books of 2021! Cant wait!
Omg nooooooo go back and read caraval asap 😭😭😭
Have you read either of N.K. Jeminsin's trilogies by chance? I feel like both of them are right up your alley, especially her Inheritance Trilogy!
i looooved their writing style in the city we became so i really need to read more :')
Six of Crows. Epic..book series for Life 💜✌️
havent read the book but Iroh would have won that tea master competition without missing a beattt
Just curious if you checked echoes and empires out yet awesome new fantasy fav of mine
Currently reading six of crows and LOVING IT SO MUCH! I was convinced it was a duology but you nearly gave me an heart attack in the beginning making me think there were more books not out yet😅
Goodreads now has info about a third book ^.^ but yes, it was sold as a duology for a long time
@@joanahenriques8863 oh nooooo 🙈 I hate the waiting game
@@bookishbythesea6436 we dont want a third book thooo if so leigh bardugo will only cause more pain
@@rodsitamara Oh no!!! should I be scared??? I'm like half way through and loving it so much more than the Shadow and Bone trilogy! I'm not prepared for bad things to happen!!!!
@@bookishbythesea6436 no it’s amazing! it’s just sad sometimes :)
Wait till she realizes Sorcery of Thorns is getting a novella spin-off.
Hi Cari!! I love your videos, i read a lot of what you recommend :) If by any chance in your trip to Europe you happen to visit Valencia (Spain) I would love to have coffee (or tea) with you
Did you read the traditionally published version of The Atlas Six?
Hello from British Columbia Canada
🇨🇦👋👍♥️,..interesting how may pandemic books were written just before C-19
right?! :')
it's funny that you talk about the shadowhunters-verse (or whatever it's called) after Legendborn because I recently read it and I was so struck by how much it reminded me of The Mortal Instruments. the way the demons come from another dimension and how they're described i was like "is this Cassandra Clare?" that's why I'm a bit concerned that an adaptation might end up looking kinda cheap and corny like Shadowhunters 😬
Have you read poppy wars series, cari? It’s feels fresh themed for a ya fantasy 😊 anyway i hope everything’s fine and poppin ❤😂
i tried but it was too long so i am waiting for a better time hahah i really want to read their new book Babel tho!
And waiting is what I hate the most in the world.
i loved These hollow vows
I cant wait for greywaren to come out ahhh october so far away
When do you think the cover reveal will be? I hope they do it justice not keen on the Dreamer series covers like i am the Raven Boys series.
You mentioned six of crows did you ever read ninth house because I think Leigh bardugo is doing a sequel to that at least I heard she started writing it after she was done with ninth house
yes! ninth house was a wild ride and i hope the sequel answers the MANY questions i have hahah
@@caricanread I like all the history that she has when she talks about Yale I mean I know that there's parts of that that yell actually was kind of like that back in the day and it is sort of a little dark Academia cuz you do know you can see all those ghosts and stuff I'm really looking forward to the second one
I am listening to 🎧 Infernal Devices, Clockwork Princess just to start Last Hour)
Hopefully, I will get to this trilogy soon.
👏👏👏
have you read vampire academy and bloodlines series? what did you think? if you haven't, i recommend them! VA is being adapted into a TV show!!
Wait so is six of crows getting a third book
Cus I neeeed a third book, such a good series
I DNFed Caraval, the first one, but once upon a broken heart sounds really interesting! Would I be lost if I read it?
ive heard that some characters from caraval are in once upon a broken heart so...maybe? i want to read once upon a broken heart as well so i just decided to buy the whole caraval trilogy like two days ago
Ok thank god I thought it was just me that thought nothing was happening in The Atlas six cos I got half way through and thought nothing was happening, but I’m going to try and read it again cos I want to but I think I will try ebook not audio this time x
There's witches, there's demons, there's cannoli
That's crazy you remember the chair you were sitting in exactly 3 years ago
i mean its the only chair in my house haha
Still the props that's a good memory😛
Your hair looks superb in this vlog. Hope you have a grand time in Europe. ^J^
Im in a toxic relationship with Patrick Routhfuss and George RR Martín, hope is still there
I love this video! Thanks so much! ❤️
thank YOU!
people say that the publisher version of the atlas six was different and the plot twist wasn't there? idk thats what i heard but its worth rereading before the next book
omg but if the plot twist isnt there then what is the second book about?? hahahha
@@caricanread i was so confused too! apparently the republished version is more refined and they changed the ending so i’m unsure
