Love your channel, love the easy to grasp analogy, love that your voice sounds like Hugh Laurie, but have to disagree with your conclusion that functional testing in this case is superfluous. It provides a quick way to zero in on the actual problem: If your functional testing of the plug providing a spark passed, there would be no need to perform any of the unit tests involved in that functionality and you could direct your testing elsewhere. In fact you could have very little understanding of the inner works of an engine and still be able to pinpoint the problematic subsystem and get further help from an expert by possibly shipping only the relevant part instead of the entire bike.
