I actually see why this FS91 does not rev so high. It's a 4 cycle engine with pre-mix, not a true 2 cycle engine like my FS80. I see Stihl makes an FS84 two cycle engine as well so I do like the higher revving engine of a 2 cycle though. I also saw you can only run the FS91R on two speed settings? No infinite throttle control?
My Stihl FS80 just died after about 15-20 years of hard usage. Great trimmer. This FS-91 is one I am looking at too now. It sounded like this did not rev up as high as my old FS80. is that something with the newer trimmer where they are tuned not to rev as high?
I bought the older model (with the kill switch ) new... it worked hard for about 4years with no issues...it still runs but low on power and hard to tune it has a new carb and still runs poorly which makes me believe it's an air leak somewhere... it earned its keep
Just bought mine yesterday. I have used numerous trimmers that belonged to my buddy and finally decided to buy my own yesterday. Got the 4 year ultra warranty with it. Was definitely worth it.
Had one, sadly wasn't up to my standards. Stick with echo or shindaiwa if you want top quality trimmers. They don't like to start if it's crazy hot. Probably good for homeowner use but up at camp where I run mine for hours this was a bit of a ket down. But way better than a Troy built or something.
Did you check the muffler screen and the values?usually it sounds like the left side value needs adjusting thats the exhaust side.it wasn't pumping the hot exhaust out..adjust both values and take the muffler screen out.i bettcha it will run better.
You are full of it Lee. I owned echo products and they are subpar to anything stihl makes. The only thing that echo has going for it is the speedfeed head.
@@aidanfgc8312 sorry dude, I run the hours and have owned three stilhs and sadly they just don't last like the echo's do. They aren't bad but more of the mid range when it comes to reliability. We have one echo that is 27 years old still running. Speed feed is amazing for sure. You get a lot more for you money with echo is all. Same with their saws, get a lot of bang for your buck.
just bought one 2 days ago. So far it seems to be good. had an older Ryobi for at least 7 years...fought it almost every time i needed it got a stihl farmboss for a chainsaw. Nice thing about the 91R is you can interchange the ends....so i got a powerbroom attachment as well, since i just got my driveway oil and stoned and didnt want to be raking stones for weeks on end
Hello I have a small lawn care business and a RUclips channel and I am looking at buying a 91 R as an investment and I was wondering what the best type of trimmer line to use in it because I really do not know much about trimmer line.
good ole stihl i have the KM56R-ES split shaft wich im looking at a KM131R for multi purpose tool wich in boxed stores are junk and cant get parts wich stihl does
Charles Jackson :yeah it's a handy tool wich it does weed wacking, brush cutting , chain sawing, tilling, edgeing, sweeping, power rakeing, hedge trimming, blowing wich 1 power unit with verilty of attachments wich 1 power unit to maintain instead of haveing to maintain other different power units wich will save alot of money then buying all different power equipmet the stihl kombi system dose it all in 1 and saves room in storage as well

3 years only loaded line once? Really/ do you use it?
My Homelite kicked the bucket after 15 years, went and picked up a proper trimmer yesterday. Thanks for the vid!
great video bro , does it still work in2024 and what 2 stroke oil do you use ?
You’ve only used it enough to add string one time? Doesn’t sound a whole lot of experience with that model.
Little use you bumped twice? Does it load 100ft at a time?
Do u prefer a zero turn or regular riding mower ?
I like them both

Yeah so the valves or the screen but also when they are really hot just hold the gas all the way in and pull it
That's wild. I've run my fs 91 for hours. Tank after tank. Starts and runs great. Definitely a great machine. You may have got a bad unit.
Looking forward to adding one of these to my tool list. Do yourself a favor though and wear some safety glasses while using your trimmer.

Shakespeare ugly twist is just about the best of the best but any commercial grade .95 will work well

Man i cant believe you put your mower on your lawnmower hood. AND STARTED IT. MULTIPLE TIMES 😢😢😢
Good review!
Nice bro I have one too I love it too !
That weed eater can’t whole day
How the f is this a 3 year review when you’ve only added string to it once? Most useless review I’ve ever seen.
