Thank you everyone for tuning into this long extended video essay. It took a lot of work compiling everything together but I hope it helps people that are new or want to recap how this small issue progressed into a full on movement divesting from BGC and curly cuts. I will take time or tomorrow to put time stamps for ease of viewing. Please refer to the live chat for links related to the videos and clips discussed
This is also a lesson in business. The moment you have an unsatisfied customer, address it. Defensiveness is the worst PR and a missed opportunity to improve your product or service.
They also don’t have conversations with their clients or try to reach a shared understanding on the clients previous hair history, clients hair goals, and how the client currently manages their hair. They’ll have you sit in their chair and be dead silent the whole service. And in my opinion, it should be similar to seeing a doctor in the sense that ask you questions about your hair and hair routine to get a better understanding of how to manage their hair. Also offer advice and an honest assessment on the health of their hair rather than bullying them into cut length
There are plenty of good stylists. I go for a wash and listen. I never let a new stylist do more than that. No cuts. No chemical. Quality costs. I'm never going to pick someone because they are cheap. And I never go on Friday or Saturday.
The only thing that I really liked about their method was that it was encouraging us to wash it more frequently and use less products and still achieve the same or better results. But I still use things that have heavier oil contents
I agree. They didn't have everything wrong there were just things that needed to be tweaked and it would've been fine. They really had a great thing going and they just let it slip thru their fingers.
My hair is hip length. I was in their course for a whole year. I just wanted help learning to style my curls. Long story short, my hair took a significant decline. 😞 I’m working now to reverse the damage of their wash day routine, lack of deep conditions and drying product recommendations.
I’m so sorry to hear that🥺 it always hurts when you take advice from who should be the experts because you’re trying to do your best and it doesn’t work out. What would you say have been the most helpful things with retaining length?
@@Theprincessinyellow Thank you!! Here are my main length retention methods: consistent wash routine (don’t go beyond 2 weeks), don’t put anything on your scalp other than shampoo, keep your hair in styles that make it easy to detangle and styles that keep your hair smooth, do minimal to no hair tie styles like ponytails unless you’re doing it for 1 day, remove the hair tie before the next day, get regular trims (trims not cuts, I do once every 3 months) and DEEP condition AT LEAST once every month. Hope this helps 💖
Update: I’ve learned, from AfrikanHairGod and other ladies who are experiencing the same thing, that the damage is irreversible. To keep the hair, you would have to keep doing bond treatments and protein treatments. Caring for healthy hair is way more fun than caring for damaged hair. Instead of big chopping, I cut my hair to neck length.
@@lalaland2107 You’re right. I guess I always saw people referring to a cut as a “big chop” when they cut all their hair off or cut it to a low hair cut.
No one is an expert on what my hair needs. No one but me!!! I don’t follow the “experts,” and my hair has always been lush, thick, long (grows to my butt) and healthy. As I have aged . . . My hair still remains healthy. The only difference is that it is grey now.
This was so needed for people who didn’t get what as transpired for the past year. Thing could have been resolved if the ego of the stylist wasn’t in the way… All people wanted was so help to resolve their issues with following their method.
In my group we were refusing these BGC gurus and the entire sect. I warned many women about not using butter and oils. They refused scientific evidence that butter and oils benefit to healthy hair. Each time you interact with these people they are very agressive. What they do not understand not every oil are equal. You need to know how and when and why you use them. You need to know when clarify also to prevent the accumulation but oils and butters are beneficial to healthy hair. The BGC approach is unfortunately refusing to nourish while weakening the hair and oxydising it with the excessive use of water. Furthermore without scientific all they needed to do is use their common sense . If oils and butters were detrimental for hair so many ancestral and cultural haircare routine wouldn't have integrated them. Million of women would have had their on the floor. I knew the time would come when this method saw an end.
You really did your due diligence for this and I appreciate it so much as a viewer. Planning a script ahead of time really made this easy to follow and understand as someone who’s never heard of anybody involved prior to your video.
It never made sense to not use butter or oils . When I had locs, they encourage to avoid conditioner and butter/oil to help the hair mat and clump together . The butter/oil causes the hair to glide and prevent locking of the hair
I just feel stupid for following their methods for so long. My hair is now so damaged, so dry, and I have extended splits throughout the majority of my hair. I saw the sign, but I foolishly kept listening to them. I’d cut off 2-4 inches at a time 💇🏾♀️, but the splits kept coming. One day I plucked a few strands just to examine closely and see what was really going on. 🕵🏽Turns out I had splits in the middle of my strands even though the end was clean cut. 🤷🏽♀️ How TF does that even happen. 😡 A strand of hair separating into 2 pieces in a place other than the end of the strand. 🤦🏾♀️😭 The worst thing is that all I wanted to do was just embrace my natural hair. I was so proud to shed the weight of wigs, crotchets, and braids. I just wanted to be free. I initially felt so beautiful in my wNg’s, twist outs, and fluffy fro’s. After Two years of following this stupid trend, my poor hair is a dry, stringy, split up, mess. 😢 I really don’t want to do besides shave it off and start over.😢
😢😥🥺 I'm so very sorry that you are having to deal with this. It's looking like the only way out of it really is to big chop and start over. I wish i could give more insight to the problem but unfortunately none of the women whose hair I assessed and cut from the nonb damage came back for me to observe their damage over a period of time. The damage is sooo severe that there's really no repair or solution to the issue that we know of. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experience of this situation and I wish you the best of luck on your hair journey.
I even fell out with my long time stylist over it. I feel really bad. I honestly had a Diva Cut for years without all of the damage. It's the whole method not just cutting the hair curly.
Hi Narada! I just want to THANK YOU so much for suggesting the Aphogee Leave In Conditioner. It has been a game changer for my hair, especially using it with hair grease. Have a wonderful day and keep spreading the truth regarding black hair care...you're literally the only RUclips hair content creator that I watch and trust. Much love 💫
A BCG stylist taught me how to do me how to do my natural hair and find my curls. I was at my wits end and was about to go back to relaxers. I never stopped deep conditioning my hair nor did I stop using oil. I only used the products that were suggested to use. Also, I did get curly cuts which I'm no longer doing as my stylist saw the same thing that Shelly's stylist saw with the bad ends.
If you DON’T want to retain length or don’t want longer hair. Listen to Black Girl Curls. This video is so timely. I’m still reversing damage their recommendations have caused. I got damage from the products and hair care routine alone. Cutting my hair curly was not even an option. That’s a hard no for me.
@@lilady04hey thats fair, not everyone wants long hair anyway 😂 they are fine with their angular bob from having to cut several inches of their hair every 3 months due to all the damage. Ive actually notice that most of them actually start out the detox with longer "dry hair" and end with like 5 inches of hair in a bob after like a year or 2. A bob that their stylist probably convinced them to get.
But retaining length isn’t just for people who want to keep their long hair or grow long hair ☹️. If you aren’t retaining length and the hair is breaking or splitting, it’s damaged. Period. I had healthy hip length hair before following Black Girl Curls’s methods and had to cut it to get rid of the damage before it traveled up to my healthy hair.
I took my daughter into a salon for a trim. I wasn’t there when the stylist cut it. The following week I washed her hair and straightened it and was shocked. I asked my daughter when they cut your hair, did they do it after blowing it out? She said no they did with her hair curled. My daughter has crazy shrinkage so when I flat ironed her hair you could see how terrible the trim was.
They've been mean since Day 1. They were rude when I went to their salon before they even hit RUclips. So rude, that I left before receiving a single service. Their abrasive approach was the main reason that I could never, even, consider taking them seriously about anything, let alone my hair.
the song at the end is sending me 😂😂😂 enjoyed the breakdown though cuz I was lost on some of the details. This can be summarized into three words: Humility, Accountability and Professionalism
When I realized none of the stylists or moderators had hair similar to the length of mine, I realized I was listening to the wrong people. Aishia literally said, long hair is just long. Nothing special about it. 🤨 I love having long hair ma’am and I’m in your course. Why would you say that?? Now I know why their hair is what it is.
I think it is interesting how BGC consistently say that they don't do RUclips, but they have made numerous attempts to be RUclipsrs/Content Creators. Like when you look at their RUclips page, they have multiple abandoned RUclips series: Real Salon stories, Curls Disrupted Podcast, 10 Things to Consider Before You..., and Wash Your Damn Hair Challenge. Plus, some of the things they said on their podcast is contradictory like on episode 5 they are talking about how clients should be able to view their hair stylist as a resource for knowledge yet on episode 10 they say that hairstylist don't have to teach their clients anything cause the appointment isn't a class. Another thing that I find interesting are the livestreams/videos that have mysteriously been taken down from their page. Some of which I used as research to decide to follow the BGC method. At the time, I was too caught up in the idea of a "Wash hour" rather than a "Wash day" to realize some of the flaw in what they were saying. Those videos had takes like: how products that don't cost a lot must be made with poor ingredients -- which in their mind is why the cost is so low -- thus, people should invest in salon grade products because the cost means they are using high quality ingredients. Which was interesting because they put Tia Mowry's haircare line in their suggested product list before I left the See Some Curls Society. As someone who is trying to basically nurse my hair back to health because of all this, it's nice to have all of this evidence laid out in one place to show how avoiding feedback and not course correcting has gotten my hair to where it is today. Since my hair was fairly healthy before, I know that it's possible to grow my hair out again but it is disappointing to see my previous efforts come to this because of hoping on a trend that was promoted as proper haircare. It's a truly humbling yet teachable moment for me.
Speak on it ! The contradictions was glaring for all to see- sad that their foot soldiers refused to see the overwhelming evidence and instead chose to ride for them at dawn at their every request 😂
Narada, it is time for you to get your trichologist certification. It will add to your already extensive hair knowledge. This series is excellent thus far. Many of these stylists are greedy, rude, unprofessional and not solution oriented. BGC/CIK downfall is their own fault because it could have been opportunity to pivot and correct the issues being presented.
Im so glad youre starting this series. I took a step back from youtube and by the time I returned it was too hard for me to tell where the mess began. But whew…
Thanks for the video. I do agree. They had a massive following, both customers and stylists, and loyal customers. They just had to listen and tweak some things. And have better customer service
I feel like when it's time for my children to get their hair done, this issue with the brand wars is going to continue over and over. Kinky Tresses was the only pre-locked brand I was able to use on my hair. All the brands I was using kept selling out/changing formulas. A lot of those cuts were great if you could rock a traditional wash and go. If you wore your hair straight/stretched sometimes abd curly other times, the cut could be weird because we usually have multiple textures in our head. (I had 4A-4C hair all over and one random spot that could pass as 3C on a good day with product.) That 4A stretched curly hair looked crazy next to my kinky 4C hair with a cut if people didn't know what they were doing. Lord forbid heat damage.
I am HERE for EVERY MINUTE of this HEH VIDEO!!! NARADA YOU ROCK BABE!!! READY with the AGENDA!!! No off-the-rip content TAAAH-DAY!!! A Man of PRINCIPLES!!!
The BGC movement left everyone like scooby doo investigators trying to figure out wth is going on. The type of damage the method causes isn't just remedied by a deep conditioner, leave in, the dryness just travels further up and up before you realize that you need a twa. The only parts of my hair that retained barely 3-4 inches or so is where there is a s-curl, all of my tight/loose coils 4a-4c were obliterated. I re-started my natural journey because of stress-induced hair loss only for professionals to mess it up even further with miseducation. As a medic professional, the amount of cases I've seen where people have developed worsened seborrheic dermatitis or alopecia triggered by irritants because of their aggressive wash your dam hair campaign. I'm all for supporting black-owned business but don't let being ethical be thrown out of the window. I'm so happy I caught on the train whilst people with integrity could speak directly and not try it dampen it down to remain politically correct and just make the root of the cause to be even more muddied.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 After one year I quit the program and stopped going to the curl stylist. My hair hard, crunchie and dry and too tangly. The #washndry wasn’t even worth all this. Yes, I paid for ALL the things, handbook, access to the website, a curly stylist and hundreds of products. And loc’ed my dry azz hair up, it was already a Brillo pad on the ends.
THANK YOU for this very detailed video. I did not know all of the tidbits surrounding this issue. Yet and still, there is still a community here screaming no oils and butters, but I keep saying it works for me 🤷🏽♀️. I love a good wash and go, but I also like twists and braids with my own hair. It’s refreshing to hear not just about the drama that was going on, but also topics and haircare practices that could affect my hair. I know a lotttt of stylists who only wear wash and go styles, and preach the no butters and oils.. But I know MY HAIR and she loves it. Again, I can’t thank you enough for this timely and relatable conversation and education. 🎀🎀🎀
CiK / BGC was a response to client demand with few professionals to meet it. I just wish it was you and Henny heading this sharing of practices with other cosmetolgists, since the work speaks for itself. But thank you for the great resource, we need to keep archives of this history so we don't repeat mistakes.
That song is a banger idc idc idc Also as soon as I heard one of the first youtubers I saw mention no oils no butters use an analogy comparing hair to a puddle on the street I knew that these ppl didn’t know wtf they were talking about🤷🏽♀️ I can’t remember exactly who it was but Ik “throwing oil on a puddle in the street” had very little to no relation to our hair & completely turned me off even more than I was when I first heard of the method. They were profiting off the fact that so many of us were still confused on how to moisturize our hair but I wasn’t that damn confused 🤣
They lost me at oil is meant for frying only as if it doesn’t literally have so many versatile uses outside of skin and hair and when they said you wouldn’t use oil in your skincare and some people actually do… just 0 sense.
Thank you for all of the work you're doing to educate and inform. I was taken aback when the stylist seemed to imply that cutting hair straight will somehow 'ruin' a curly style. Recently, my stylist cut about 3 inches of of my hair (straight) because it was unhealthy. The style I chose looks good if I choose to wear it curly or if I choose to straighten it. It's that part of what I stylist does, create styles that work for their client's hair, not just the stylist's methodology & hair philosophy?
I loved this video essay format for you so much! I felt so educated and was able to follow along. It was not only a chronology of the BGC space but its obituary as well - love how it came full circle! Keep up the good work❤
I love your channel I have learned so much from you. I have been watching you from the very beginning when you had your two strand twist. Thank you so much for always keeping it sooo real with us and keep up the good work. Thank you for caring for black womens hair ❤
So I do wear wash n go's 85 percent of the time. I go back and forth between curly cuts and blow out trims. Has anybody used the Aphogee Leave in under a gel or foam? And I want to add that I didnt have any damage from the curly cuts except uneven ends like stated in the video. I will say I didnt use the BGC suggested products. I used a leave in, deep condition and did protein treatments. I agree with everything in the video, you have to use products for your "hair".
i’ve used it under gels and it works very well for me since it’s a lightweight spray (i’m assuming you mean the pro-vitamin leave-in?) it also is nice for prepping the hair for the stylers since it has good slip from the amodimethicone
I have to have a moisturizer with it. But the moisturizer interferes with these ‘1-step-glycerin-for-the-second-ingredient’ stylers that brands just love to make these days. So I’m still at the drawing board for that one. Gonna try the pro-vitamin, oil/butter-heavy spray leave-in, and bee girl custard when the school year is over. Doing weekly twists atm. So the interference doesn’t really matter.
Looking at their hair, idk where they are in their journeys but for the lady that always has her hair own curly with the blonde dye, her shape is constantly changing and from video to video, it looks shorter and shorter. Then for them to talk so much about influencers, I have never seen anyone who goes “no oils, no butters” reach past bra strap length unless their hair is never out. None of the women that I’ve seen that had waist length hair before the curly cuts, have ever reached waist length again after, because of having to constantly having get more cuts to correct the damage. Influencers who live by oils and butter, plenty of them have reached waist length and beyond. Hell, even plenty of women who use grease. After going to cosmetology school and my teacher used me as a demo to do a curly cut on my hair almost 2 years ago now and I’m still correcting the damage she did. My hair was already dyed, but she cut over half my length off and it took me forever to realize what was going on so my hair kept getting worse.
Thank You for this knowledge. I gave up on natural stylist because it was too much contradictory. Thanks to you. You brought light and truths to alot of myths ive been hearing. 💛
No one is an expert on what my hair needs. No one but me!!! I don’t follow the “experts,” and my hair has always been lush, thick, long (grows to my butt) and healthy. As I have aged . . . My hair still remains healthy. The only difference is that it is grey now.
I did not get curly cuts and still ended up with very super dry hair after I started using the product inner sense. I only did wash n goes for 5 years and mostly used kinky curly leave in and gel.
The BGC ladies, who stand by curly cuts, probably didn't want people to make the connection that severe splitting/damage was potentially happening to their own clients since Rosie and Shelly V hair had setbacks due to curly cuts. Even if the BGC girls were not outright blamed, they wanted to avoid having to explain how curly cuts are not the best way to remove damage. Admitting that would mean they can't make their bread because I don't believe them two know how to properly assess hair if all they know is curly cuts. No one would want to book with them or any stylists trained under CIK if it was (and has been) revealed that curly cuts are just not suitable for hair maintenance or length retention. Further down in the comments of this video Rosie stated that the dodging and nasty behavior from the BGC ladies and any stylist who backs them up boils down to greed monetarily wise. I wholeheartedly agree; refusing to give some insight, take blame, and refusing to rectify the problem just screams unprofessional and unethical. Unfortunately, their clients and anyone who follows them and have questions or concerns are gaslit into believing that they are not doing something right in their routine or not following the methodology properly, when really it's the way CIK stylists go about cutting or "maintaining" hair. As Shelly touched on, it doesn't make sense how one can invest in the recommended products, follow the CIK methods, get curly cuts for each salon visit - all of which is supposed to yield beautiful healthy hair - but it looks like the hair was severely neglected when blown out or straightened? 🤔 Anyhow, they simply don't know how to achieve shape and cut off damage when the hair is blown out/straightened on their clients' head. They need to go back to school or watch some videos on RUclips. Them having a business is laughable because they are so inept at their job. Like, I'm blown away at how ignorant the ladies actually are about natural haircare. It's almost on par with how ignorant and stubborn Cyndoll a.k.a "Cynthia" was (and still is in my opinion).
I don't follow them. I've never even heard of any of this. But this makes me nervous for my 10 yr old's hair. She's so tenderheaded because of webbing and tangling so I leave it alone a lot. But your video makes me think there's damage to her lipid layer. Wish I could bring her to you for assessment, but she's so tenderheaded. I'm definitely booking appointments for my 18 and 21 yr olds, and maybe for myself too! I want all our hair to be healthy! Thanks for the education.
Chile every time I watch one of these videos from u, I feel like I need to go get a blow out and a haircut. I have been using kinky curly for over a decade for my wash n gos. I can get 7 days with it. The only time I started having problems with my wash n go was when I used diva curl and my hair fell out. I tried the I create hold, but the dryness is insane!! And that’s after a deep conditioner AND using a leave in. I do get curly cuts but not as often, but I will just do a blow out n trim and see if there are any difference in my hair. Thanks for taking the time to put all of this together!!
@@NaturallyHigh of course! You're video was pivotal in us linking the importance of oil along with the lipid layer deprivation and how that ultimately impacted everyone's hair. I have to make sure you get your 💐
The way they treated Latoya was all I needed to know. I followed Latoya and learned quickly to never follow those unprofessional people. Being mean to people who are positive and uplifting is never a good look.
This just goes to show about the delicate balance that's needed not only in hair but in all things. Like you said going to far to the left of the right ain't going to cut it. First it was too much water and moisture now it's not enough oil. Just gotta find that perfect balance.
I went 2 a consultation with a curly cut wash n go specialist b4 I got locs....she kept telling me how dry my hair was n the expensive products I needed. I told her the cuts I've seen were ugly and she said it was the process. Needless 2 say I never went thru with it. Too much trouble. They make natural hair difficult and 2 many steps 4 no reason
Can they show you anyone who has grown their hair long using their methods? Nobody is trying to walk around looking like a mushroom for the rest of their life. Thier methods were all about getting products to "work" that weren't meant for afro textured hair in the first place, not hair health.
1:38:53 the problem then is the damage from no oils and butters is not just at the ends, its all the way up the strand! Lol Also i have a question about damage. Narada, is it fair to say that split ends are worse than thinning and the sequence is usually breakage leads->thinning->split ends or are they separate processes?
Thanks so much for putting this together! You are an amazing stylist with a caring nature and it shows in your expertise and passion. I've learned a lot from watching your videos and lives. Keep up the informative work! ❤
I am taking my locs of 30 yrs out by comb out method. Yes it's going to take a minute! What to maintain length but more importantly have healthy hair. Do you recommend a blow out of my hair after taking my hair out to have a proper cutting of hair?@@AfrikanHairGod
Thank you for the video! I'm loc'd now, but I still think about how this impacts me as a future mother, despite it not having a direct impact currently.
ALL i have seen similar with all these curly cuts women is that they don't tell you the truth about curly cuts and the damages associated with it and now sadly they are all having big chops 😢😢😢
I cannot lie, I came here preparing to be mad at you, but you made very valid points with evidence to back it up; thanks for reminding me to always critique our sources. Nobody is beyond stumbling.
@@BiscuitsandLemonade yeah I figured. But there's always a reason for my distaste for people. I'm not someone that just hates on people. I give everyone the same respect even if I don't care for them that much. Thanks for sharing that with me.
This was very informative. I've worn the braids once for two months. It was a beautiful change but I was itching all the time. Isaw commercials about relaxing hair and the consequences. I'm going natural with a lot of gel.❤ Thanks 🎉🎉🎉
No offense, and this could be seen as" self hating "/ anti black but whatever: as someone with naturally dull hair, the fact that the curl mix products dont produce much sheen and tend to make a lot of kinky coily naturals washngos look ashy, made me alway not want to buy them...especially since they are kind of pricey. Ive found product combos that make my hair shinier and just as defined so....
@@smokeyfan basically any botanical gel and the doux mousse. I like mielle curling custurd since by its self it, it already produces lots of sheen. Uncle funkys with the doux (a favorite of BGC tbh) is another good one. Also, mielle custurd with wetline extreme gel; just make sure you use the leavein under too cause the wetline. If you want to avoid the no oils/butters damage, maybe at least use a spray leave in conditioners (aphogee vitamin water, alikay naturals, or texture ID) under the other combos I mentioned. Lol At least if you're going to do WnG often.
I had one of them as a stylist but once I told her what was going on with my hair and she didn't believe me and said that doesn't exist. I stopped going to her, I just refused to deal with stylist anymore.
Thank you for all the knowledge you shared with us about hair damage, splits ends and thinning. I did trim my hai on my own as i took down my natural braids during summer and it's only now that i have to cut my hair again. I would like to know if the brush that you swar by in an hard brush of a soft one ? Also, i would like to know if you recommend prepooing ? Like, is it necessary ?
Why come we all can’t get along together and try to help each other? The natural hair movement was the best and greatest thing for me. I just wish I would see more of us wear are giving god hair that was provided to us and make it happen because we are beautiful women with our own hair.
No I'm not making any more videos on her. She's weird and she might even be a little off but it would just be redundant and just be a breeding ground for people to say terrible things about. That all that people seem to do in the comments anytime someone mentions her. Stop watching her and stop giving her fuel for her antics.
I really thought the deva cut made sense the way they picked up every loose curl, examined it, then cut it. I paid from $90-$150. But when I saw CIK cutting through curls for shape only, looking like barber cutting, charging $400 plus, talking nasty rude to clients, I didn’t think it would work for me. My stylist cuts curly, but like the deva cut. After all of this drama though, I’ve just had her cut it blown out. I cannot imagine that Abena and Untwisted would ruin their businesses for CIK and BGC, etc, but to each their own. Abena needs to do better because she has a good product in Enbba. However, I can do without it with the flakes when pairing it with other products. But with Untwisted-I can order my Trepadora from the owner in the UK and just wait for it. Lastly, Curl Mix is also a no for me. It made my hair like straw-like Aiesha’s (I know I spelled it wrong, lol).
I love me a good documentary! I can tell you worked hard on this. I’ll be waiting with my popcorn for parts 2 and 3 ❤
This is also a lesson in business. The moment you have an unsatisfied customer, address it. Defensiveness is the worst PR and a missed opportunity to improve your product or service.
So many hairstylists are such bullies to their customers. It’s why I haven’t gone to a stylist in over a decade.
@@rachelesmith3342Beautifully articulated, my love!
You doing the Lord's work! ❤
Yes. The digital salon was cool at first, but it became toxic. I took what I needed and left the rest.
@@NamaGVidafrom hip length to all the way up to the neck *is* a big chop!
@@lalaland2107 You’re right. I guess I always saw people referring to a cut as a “big chop” when they cut all their hair off or cut it to a low hair cut.
I didn't fall this "no oils, no butter" nonsense . Don't change what works for you simply because "an expert" says so.

No one is an expert on what my hair needs. No one but me!!! I don’t follow the “experts,” and my hair has always been lush, thick, long (grows to my butt) and healthy. As I have aged . . . My hair still remains healthy. The only difference is that it is grey now.
Styled didn't even look any good with that process. Don't know how anyone fell for it.
I saw people being ridiculed for still using what worked for them (oils, Shea butter, etc) smh
Exactly, like not all of us are so lost to the point we don’t know some of the most basic natural hair stuff
The first time I ever saw anything like this was on a Rab
I missed most of the live. Replay gang. Thanks for putting all this together ❤❤
Much love 💫

Urghhhh, time zone woes. I wish I'd caught this live. Either way, I'm tuning in for the replay😊🫶🏾
Please tell me when do you use the oils after leave in before gels? Thank you for your help
I’m happy they normalized people washing their hair more often because that co washing nonsense irked me from a hygiene perspective.
I have had a curly cut, blown out cut, and blown out and straightened cut. I primarily wear my hair curly. Hands down the blown out cut was THE BEST.
That part....If you don't want to retain length keep following them🙌🏿😂!!!!
If you want all the worst possible just stay in touch with them 😭
@@lilady04hey thats fair, not everyone wants long hair anyway 😂 they are fine with their angular bob from having to cut several inches of their hair every 3 months due to all the damage.

One of the worst parts about this mess is the way the BGC owners reacted to people’s issues. Just rude and nasty asf for no reason sigh. Vile
Both of ‘em got the worst attitude and are huge bs artist.

Yep! I couldn’t believe how condescending they were!
They've been mean since Day 1. They were rude when I went to their salon before they even hit RUclips. So rude, that I left before receiving a single service. Their abrasive approach was the main reason that I could never, even, consider taking them seriously about anything, let alone my hair.

@@fashionwithoutlabels that’s why I said “I love having long hair” ….she simply showed me that I was in the wrong course with the statement she made.
Very informative, very well presented. Thank you for taking the time. 😊
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for this live narada. ❤
Thank you! My pleasure
I’ve been keeping up with this but still appreciated this live. Thanks and looking forward to part 2 🙂
Did you know it's actually possible to get a PHD in cosmetology?
Nice to have everything all in one place with all the receipts. 👍🏼
Im so glad youre starting this series. I took a step back from youtube and by the time I returned it was too hard for me to tell where the mess began. But whew…
Well done! The conclusion starts here: 02:43:28

Thanks for the video. I do agree. They had a massive following, both customers and stylists, and loyal customers. They just had to listen and tweak some things. And have better customer service
I m so glad I never followed trends or listened to them! I always washed my hair every two weeks and deep conditioning is apart of that routine!
"My Hair...It Don't Move." That's the jam 😂😂
I’m so happy the popularity of BGC & cut it kinky nonsense is coming to an end. From the jump I clocked it was a load of bull.

After one year I quit the program and stopped going to the curl stylist.
This why i just stick to what my mom did to my hair as a child
CiK / BGC was a response to client demand with few professionals to meet it. Also as soon as I heard one of the first youtubers I saw mention no oils no butters use an analogy comparing hair to a puddle on the street I knew that these ppl didn’t know wtf they were talking about🤷🏽♀️ I can’t remember exactly who it was but Ik “throwing oil on a puddle in the street” had very little to no relation to our hair & completely turned me off even more than I was when I first heard of the method. They were profiting off the fact that so many of us were still confused on how to moisturize our hair but I wasn’t that damn confused 🤣
I saw that video lmao

I agree with everything in the video, you have to use products for your "hair".
i’ve used it under gels and it works very well for me since it’s a lightweight spray (i’m assuming you mean the pro-vitamin leave-in?)
it also is nice for prepping the hair for the stylers since it has good slip from the amodimethicone
Your passion , dedication, knowledge and expertise in hair care is unmatched. You are phenomenal!
Thank you so much 🤗
Looking at their hair, idk where they are in their journeys but for the lady that always has her hair own curly with the blonde dye, her shape is constantly changing and from video to video, it looks shorter and shorter.
I'm back working with my former hairstylist to correct the damage from my CIK cuts.
The no oils no butter trend is one of the dumbest things i have ever seen😂😂😂😂😂
Yes, that part!!😀
I'm glad those scammers are finally exposed. It was long overdue.

What is your routine?
Anyhow, they simply don't know how to achieve shape and cut off damage when the hair is blown out/straightened on their clients' head.

Oh, also, I never completely avoided oils and butters to the degree that I saw some people do.
Trepadora has a US website now!
@@TatianaJ16 Yeah I know.
I think cut it kinky has become more of style then a method 😂
